add vitamins

Are foods with vitamins added extraneously nutritionally beneficial?

I’ve read studies regarding taking vitamins versus eating foods naturally high in vitamins, but what about foods where vitamins are added, such as Calcium, etc.?

That is called “fortification.” Do you actually believe the manufacturers care about your health? They add the cheapest thing they can to processed foods, primarily, to sell it as a marketing gimmick, nothing more. The “B” vitamins they add, for instance, is a petroleum distillate, derivative of COAL TAR. That’s not a vitamin, but a chemical activator. That junk damages your DNA of each of your cells.

Why would anyone want to fortify anything? Because they take out the good vitamins to preserve it so bugs and other living things won’t eat it. So, let’s see, they take out the nutrition and add the chemicals. Does that make sense? It is NOT for your benefit, but theirs and then they try to sell you on how good it is for you. Please!

The calcium they add is typically calcium carbonate. That is a rock and causes the body to develop cataracts, bone spurs, etc. NOT a good choice for any food.

good luck to you

Have You Tried Herbal Supplements for Adhd?

When a child is diagnosed with ADHD, it can be a confusing and devastating blow. Prescription drugs are often the first line of defense for the disorder. Common side effects such as insomnia, restlessness, anxiety, decreased appetite, allergic reactions, and unforeseen long-term complications lead many people to seek alternative therapies.

Luckily, there are many herbal supplements for ADHD that can balance the brain chemistry without the unwanted side effects of prescription medication. Studies performed on the psychological effects of herbs have revealed benefits for many brain and performance parameters. These benefits also extend to ADHD patients as they have natural stimulating properties and positive effects on the nervous system.

Some of the most effective herbal supplements for treating ADHD include Ginkgo Biloba, American Ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Grape Seed Extract, and Pine Bark (Pycnogenol). These herbal supplements for ADHD have been reported effective time and again by children and adults diagnosed with the disorder, and most have been validated by scientific studies.

Ginkgo Biloba is one of the most effective herbal supplements for treating ADHD. It improves blood flow, brain function, memory, and concentration. Studies have shown that combining Ginkgo with American Ginseng can treat symptoms of ADHD in many children.

St. John’s Wort is one of the classic herbal supplements for ADHD. It has been used for years to increase serotonin availability in the brain. Not only is it the most popular alternative anti-depressant prescribed, it is also very effective in the treatment of ADHD. St. John’s Wort is particularly useful in the treatment of the limbic system sub-type of Attention Deficit Disorder.

Grape Seed Extract is another of the most frequently used herbal supplements for treating ADHD. It is becoming increasingly common for physicians to prescribe this extract instead of prescription medication as a first line of defense. Although the exact mechanism that makes grape seed extract so effective is unknown, it is believed to inhibit the breakdown of dopamine in the brain, which happens faster than normal in ADHD patients.

Pine Bark is also an up and comer in the world of herbal supplements for ADHD. Also known as Pycnogenol, this supplement is a complex of flavanoids from the French maritime pine tree. It is a powerful antioxidant that increases circulation, improves capillary health, and reduces free radicals. These properties combine to increase duration and effectiveness of the brain’s neurotransmitters. Pycnogenol can cross the brain’s blood barrier, which almost no other substance can do. It has been found especially helpful in treating children with ADHD.

Diet, exercise, and herbal supplements for treating ADHD may be the answer to your prayers if you are searching for an alternative to drug therapy. These are just some of the many herbal supplements for ADHD that have been proven effective. Find what works best for your child and speak to your doctor about any changes in medication or the addition of herbal supplements for treating ADHD.

Child with ADHD, has anyone used natural remedies for their children? and have they worked??

My daughter is 6 years old now but since she started school the teachers have been telling me she has adhd. The first year I didn’t do anythign about it. The second year The teacher still pushed it so I brought her to a pediatrician who sjust basically medicated her right away without any testing. I took her off the drug because things were not improving after a few months. I recently went to see a different pediatrician and received the same diagnosis that she has adhd. I have been researching it as much as I can but I still have mixed feelings. I went today to see a naturopath to get her blood analyzed. I was amazed at what she told me, without me even telling her why I brought her there in the first place. She was able to tell me what was going on in her body and what would be affected by it. she recomended some supplements and a body cleanse. has anyone else tried this for their child and has it helped???

This will be a bit long, but I’ll try to give you my best understanding on the problem since it seems like information would be appreciated 😛
Hope you find this helpful!

ADD is a relatively recent phenomena that has been getting progressively worse. Those critical of the conventional approach towards the condition believe the following may be true;
The condition is overdiagnosed by zealous psycologist (the reasons for this are debated, they include payments from drug companies)
A lot of previously normal behavior (ie. boys naturally don’t like to sit down at a desk all day long), is now considered a mental problem. Some people claim this is linked to the fact the new model of schooling wants to process students into mindless workers for an industrial system, hence previous indepenedent habits that prevent toiling in a factory all day long are not acceptable.
Environmental pollution causes it (ie. food additives were shown irrefutably by a UK government study to cause learning problems including ADD).
The nature of our current society creates it. For instance the rapidly changing stimuli on TV (one thing is only focused on for a few seconds before the next one is jumped to) causes a child’s attention span to be conditioned to be very short.

Regardless of the cause though, the biggest opposition towards the ritalin treatment is the fact that the stuff is an amphetamine (ie. think of methamphetamine aka crystal meth). A lot of the effects of ritalin mirror those of fairly bad drugs, and I know quite a few people raised on ritalin, who are for lack of a better term fucked up and disfunctional.
An old tactic (I never did it but I had friends that did) for doing well on important exams which were not primarily memory based and timed was to take cocaine or speed before the test. Ritalin has now become a much popular drug for this approach. The state of mind you go into can be useful occasionaly for situations like that, but forcing continually on the nervous system just messes it up, strains it, makes you completely dependent on the drugs, and puts you into a completely unnatural/abnormal state of mind.

I have heard of a few people who have seen naturopaths successfully (as another poster mentioned, naturopaths only count in states that accredit them, in other places the title is almost worthless) to treat it. I would advise looking into that before you tried anything else.

Quick aside on Kalos.
He goes on here, and gives a brief flame (slander) to anything to do with an alternative medicine practice. Once that flame has been made, some responds and points out why it’s false, and then Kalos edits his post to write a long tirade and flaming whoever claimed that.
I would estimate this has happened over 100 times, just ignore him.

Need a strong supplement to add to my workout stack?

Ive got my whey and soy protein, I ve been using some creatine which is ok but not amazing. I heard that nitric oxide boosters are quite good for giving the extra pump. Any tips lads?

Yeah there are many pre workout supps on the market, too many count, ive tried about 11 different ones in my years of bodybuilding and to be honest the best one ive had was a natural NO booster supp called 60% icariin extract, it’s basically the pure extract of the main ingredient found in well known supps like NO xplode, blue gene etc etc

These 60% icariin caps are defo for pre workout as they do boost your energy and endurance levels and in turn your testosterone levels rise steadily. Personally ive had some amazing muscle mass gains and the pump feel is really dam good too. Ive done 3 cycles on it so far and have not had ant bad sides at all yet either so its defo one that Ive been recommending to the lads.

What is the optimal RAW meat for my dogs?

I currently feed my dogs half Nature’s Logic and half raw. ONLY half raw because raw is a bit pricey. The kibble I use has no synthesized vitamins/minerals added. It is all an all natural food. BUT I would like to go to a butcher and buy the family size package of meat to freeze and give to them with the kibble. I use Nature’s Variety frozen raw but am not above trying Primal or someone else’s. I just use the pre-made because it is sooo much easier than grinding/mixing myself.
O BTW they LOVE frozen turkey necks!!!

Optimal raw meat. I read somewhere that beef (buffalo, red meat) has the highest quality of digestible protein. Eggs are the perfect protein, but necks are great! My dog loves duck necks. We visit ethnic groceries for good deals.

I make vegicubes, keep a tub of flora in the fridge, or disguise her plants in chopped meat with eggs, powdered eggshells, liver, and fresh mackerel.

We keep a log of the proportions in our mixes, but we aren’t rigid. We feed a variety of whatever is in season, and on sale, balancing her nutritional requirements. We strive to supply her with meaty bones. We don’t grind. We try to keep her food simple. She usually gets a some sort of meat, bone in, some days her percentage of liver. Throughout the day, we treat with tablespoons of supplementary food.

We bring her chopped mixes with us when we leave town for a few days. It’s cheaper to assemble her food than to purchase from supply houses, unless we buy in bulk and pack a second freezer.

I feed my fish frozen brine shrimp all the time. I’d like to add vitamins to it so it’s more nutritious, but I don’t know which one to get? Searching Out Natural Cures for Adhd

Whether you are concerned for a child who has been recently diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or you are slowly realizing that you may be an adult who suffers from the same, you will find that there is a lot of information out there on natural cures for ADHD. Not terribly long ago, Ritalin and other drugs in that family were prescribed almost unilaterally across the board for this condition, but given the fact that the long term results of the drugs are not known, more and more people are looking for natural treatments for ADHD.

When you are thinking about finding natural cures for ADHD, you’ll find that one of the first factors that you are going to need to address is diet. Recent research has shown that people with ADHD respond very well to changes in their diet, and the younger the person suffering from the disorder, the better they do. Essentially, though there are many specific diets that are meant to treat ADHD specifically, you will find that you can do quite well simply eating more whole grains, fresh greens, fruits and lean meats. There is a fair amount of research that states that preservatives in foods and too much complex carbohydrates are not necessarily good for people who suffer from ADHD.

One important factor of looking into diet when searching for natural treatments for ADHD would be essential fatty acids. For some people, this is the main factor that they need to address when they are looking to cure ADHD naturally. You will find that you can eat foods that contain these acids or you can find good supplements that will provide you with the same.

Among the natural cures for ADHD, you’ll discover that one that is mentioned repeatedly is the elimination of excessive sugars from the diet. The truth is that sugars, specifically ones that have been over processed, can make ADHD worse. The problem with too much refined sugar in the diet is that it will give the sufferer a burst of energy that abruptly tapers off. The highs that the sugars provide contrast strongly with the lows that happen afterwards, and this can put a great deal of stress on the body.

If you are curious about finding natural treatments for ADHD, you’ll discover that there are also certain deficiencies that can go with this disorder and which can make it worse. One such deficiency is magnesium, and along with ADHD, you’ll find that symptoms include restlessness, anxiety, irritability, and depression. These are all symptoms that you are likely to see in people who suffer from ADHD as well, and treating a magnesium deficiency through supplements and diet is an important thing to consider.

Finding natural cures for ADHD that will work for you or your child can be a little time consuming, but the truth is that many people find it rewarding. Take some time and really consider what your options are going to be; chances are, you can relieve the symptoms of ADHD or even get rid of them entirely through a little bit of experimentation and observation.

Studies have proven that more than 30% of brain is made is made of polyunsaturated DHA omega3 fat. It is also proven that deficiency of essential DHA fat could result in various conditions like Autism, Dyslexia, Bipolar disorder, ADHD, Alzheimer’s disease, memory loss, etc.

Since, body cannot produce DHA on its own, omega 3 brain nutritional supplements are absolutely necessary for each one of us to keep our brain healthy.

Like any other product, there are tons of omega-3 brain nutritional supplements available in the market. With each claiming to be best, it is very hard to find one that is most effective. Below are two parameters, you can use to lay your hands on the best.

1. DHA content As we just saw, brain constitutes of large amount of DHA. Therefore, for proper growth and development of brain, the supplement should have high amount of DHA present in it. Fish is the rich source of DHA; therefore, fish oil supplements are better than other omega3 supplements like flaxseed.

It is recommended that 1000mg of fish oil should at least have 250 mg of DHA.

2. Purity Think for yourself that what good a product is if it is full of toxins. Nobody wants to have any supplement if it has harmful chemicals like mercury, arsenic, lead, etc. Therefore, purity of the oil is the most important criteria. Fish oil can have impurities because of fish caught from polluted ocean water. Therefore, oil should undergo proper refining processes to filter out all the unwanted and harmful chemicals. Impure oil can result in upset stomach, nausea, diarrhea, etc.

Molecular distilled supplements are the purest and of pharmaceutical grade quality.

Now, that you know how to judge the quality of omega 3 brain nutritional supplements, picking up the best will be a piece of cake for you. Protection of heart from heart attacks and strokes, increased immunity levels, prevention of breast, colon and prostate cancer, low cholesterol and blood pressure are few other added advantages of taking omega3 brain supplement. This supplement also helps in reducing inflammation and pain in conditions like Arthritis, Psoriasis, etc.

Are there any natural treatments for ADD or ADHD?

I suspect I may have a minor case of ADD, but I don’t have health insurance so I can’t get checked out by an MD. Are there any safe nutritional supplements, mental exercises, or other remedies that can assist with symptoms? Thanks.

Yes; check out sections 22 – 25, on ADD/ADHD, at Take 4 Omega 3 fish oil supplements, daily: (certified free of mercury) it is best if consumed with an antioxidant, such as an orange, or grapefruit, or their FRESHLY SQUEEZED juice. If vitamin E is added, it should be certified as being 100% from natural sources, or it may be synthetic: avoid it. Minimise sugar & highly processed grains. I don’t recommend homeopathy; section 81 refers.

Is Diet A Main ADHD Cause ? Recent Research On Other Causes

Just imagine if there was one main ADHD cause! That would make life simpler if it were due to genetic factors, or diet, or the environment or conditions during pregnancy. It could have something to do with the structure of the brain and the chemical imbalances involved in the neurotransmitters. Actually, it is a combination of all the above, just to make life more complicated and no main ADHD cause has ever been identified.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has done research on diet and it seems that certain dietary supplements can be a help in lessening the symptoms of ADHD. Omega 3 fatty acids and Vitamin B, plus fewer processed foods all seems to help although the NIH estimate that only about 5% of ADHD children are actually helped by diet and they seem to fall into the food allergy category. One study actually showed that certain dietary supplements were just as effective as Ritalin in easing ADHD symptoms. Diet cannot therefore be a main ADHD cause but it can and does affect a child and can exacerbate or alleviate symptoms. Too much sugar can cause a ‘crash’ and that can lead to temper tantrums or irritability and restlessness.

Recent research shows that the main ADHD cause is more than likely to be an imbalance in the neurotransmitters such as dopamine which are closely connected to the feelings of reward and motivation. This research was carried out at the Brookhaven National Laboratory on Long Island and it is certainly very interesting to note that this could be the reason why ADHD children can never finish a task as they cannot see the long term benefits or rewards. Yet,when they are involved in computer games or video games, they do much better as the rewards are evident and immediate. There are lessons here for both parents and teachers in that they can try to make tasks at home and at school much more appealing and rewarding. It may be as simple as breaking down tasks into smaller units. It could also explain why ADHD kids are more likely to suffer from being overweight and also drug abuse as these are directly linked to reward and motivation.

There are other ways in which a child can be calmed and helped to focus without subjecting him or her to very doubtful amphetamine like drugs which are losing credibility as the major health authorities are worried about the long term effects and the paucity of complementary treatments for ADHD. That is why ADHD homeopathic remedies rarely get enough attention and yet they can help a ADHD child to remain calm and to suffer less from fidgeting. Looking at these remedies and trying to find a reputable supplier can be quite a task. If the facility is FDA approved, the purity of the ingredients are guaranteed and the manufacture is under the supervision of qualified homeopaths, then there is an excellent chance that you can find a product of superior quality.

What Vitamins Can Increase Memory And Help Relieve Symptoms Of Add And Adhd

For the last two decades research has shown that nutrition has a dramatic effect on the function of the brain. Proper nutrition and supplementation can not only increase memory, focus and concentration but can also be effective in helping individuals with ADD and ADHD as well as reduce the future risk of Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease and Dementia.

Many people realize as they age they slow down. We can no longer do some of the physical things such as climb a flight of stairs, walk as fast or as far as we used to or play sports with the intensity that we did when we were younger. This is also true of our mental capacity. We have our so called “Senior Moments” when we may forget where we left our keys, miss an appointment that we forgot about or have trouble remembering someone’s name that is an acquaintance of ours.

The good news is as we know the physical aspects of aging can be reduced with exercise, healthy diet and the proper nutritional supplements, so can our mental health. The same factors, along with participating in regular mental exercises, can increase mental endurance, improve our memory and optimize our ability to focus and concentrate.

While we all know what types of exercise regimen we are most likely to benefit from and stay with and what the proper foods we need to consume to maintain a healthy diet, it is not so clear what we need to be looking for in a dietary supplement to achieve our goals in increasing our mental capacity. There have been numerous studies done on the different compounds in vitamins as they pertain to improving our mental capacity. Some of the more important ingredients that you want to make sure are in the vitamins and supplements that you take are discussed below.

Vitamin C is easily absorbed into the digestive system. This is a very important antioxidant and is critical to overall good health. As it enters the blood stream and tissues it moves into the blood cells and stays in the body tissues.

Calcium is vital for the transmission of nerve impulses, maintains proper cell membrane permeability, and aids in neurotransmitter activity.

Tyrosine and Taurine are both important amino acids that are vital to brain health. Taurine has a protective effect on the brain and is found in concentrations up to four times higher in children than adults. Tyrosine is a building block for several important brain chemicals.

GABA (Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid) is a powerful amino acid and is required as an inhibiting neurotransmitter. GABA is believed to help bring about tranquility in individuals with a high activity of manic behavior and acute agitation.

DMAE (2-dimethylaminoetanol bitartrate) has been shown in studies to increase vigilance and alertness. DMAE is reported to have nootropic effects (boosting human function and capacities of the brain).

Vitamin B-complex helps maintain healthy nerves. The B-complex works synergistically with other nutrients for maximum effectiveness.

In conclusion, while most of us are aware of the benefits that regular exercise along with proper diet and supplementation has on our physical health we are not always looking at the benefits that it has on our mental health and capacity. Today we hear about the increases and concerns of such diseases as ADD, ADHD, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s we also need to be aware that the things that we do in our younger years to avoid these serious diseases are going to aid us in having a healthier and more productive life as we age.

Adhd Vitamin Supplements Help for Parents With Adhd Children

The UK Minister for Health states that it is a scandal that many childhood disorders and illnesses are a result of poor nutrition and nothing else! ADHD is no exception. Where can parents get ADHD vitamin supplements help? Are vitamins really going to make a difference? It should be pointed out immediately that ADHD has to be treated on many different fronts: medication, behavioural therapy, diet and nutrition and supportive parents and teachers.

ADHD is a behavioural disorder as a result of the brain’s malfunctioning. Anything we eat affects our brain – just think of caffeine, alcohol, carbohydrates etc. In order for our children’s brains to function optimally, we have to make sure that they are given a high protein and low carbohydrate diet and give propriety to fruit and vegetables That may not always be possible so ADHD vitamin supplements will be required.

Vitamin C is a great ally for all sorts of ailments. One study has shown that by giving ADHD children a mixture of flaxseed oil and Vitamin C there was a marked improvement in impulsivity and hyperactivity. The second great Vitamin group is the B complex one which includes Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin and Folic Acid among others. Why is Vitamin B so important? It plays a vital role in helping us to extract energy from any food we consume. Taking a good B complex vitamin is recommended.

The Frankfurt (Germany) Consumer Protection Office wants to ban food colourings and additives which tend to make children hyperactive. Tartrazine, carmoisine and quinoline yellow are used in a lot of kids’ candy. The European Union will insist that all sweets and candy using these food dyes, will carry a warning from 2010.

Supplementing kids’ diets with the above vitamins will be beneficial if they have ADHD and will also do them and ourselves a lot of good even if we do not suffer from ADHD. Making sure processed foods are avoided and that small regular meals are planned, will go a long way to treating hyperactivity in children.

The next decision will be to decide on ADHD medication and pyschostimulant drugs have had a very bad press and not without good reason! There are some risks – not least insomnia and retarded growth not to mention playing havoc with the child’s appetite. What if there was a 100% safe ADHD Alternative therapy which makes use of natural homeopathic remedies and which can be used in conjunction with ADHD vitamin supplements mentioned above? The reason you may not know about this is quite simply because the pharmaceutical companies are pushing their own risky drugs for very obvious economic reasons! You can find out about a much cheaper option which will not put your child at risk from the link below.

How do you treat your ADD/ADHD Child?

My daughter has ADHD, but is on no prescriptions. Through diet, supplements, homeschooling and behavior management she is fuctioning fabulously!

We see a Natriopath for most all of our health needs. Why aren’t kids allowed to be kids anymore?

Watch this video.

I used to say that the REAL wording behind the acronym for ADD was “Adults Don’t Discipline.” And with that as my mindset, my oldest child suffered miserably. I verbally beat him into submission — he didn’t REALLY submit, rather he just gave up. We’d been warned of the severe side effects of drugs being prescribed and opted to pull him from public schools and begin various regimens of diets. My wife and I are both well educated and thought ourselves up to the task of home school. He fell behind several grade levels and finally quit at the nineth grade. We put him on Strattera and put him to work. He went through jobs like most people go through underwear. At nineteen, he took himself off the medication and is currently enrolled in Job Corps.
Our youngest son, we held off slightly — not wanting to jump the gun. School went from being his favorite passtime to being something he absolutely hated and dreaded. So, with the mindset of not witholding medication for a diabetic, we had him tested and medicated. He’s in the fourth grade now. He’s in the advanced math program, working three grade levels above his fellow class mates and is reading four grade levels above the others. Still, he is teased mercilessly and there is a definite difference in his behavior when he misses his dosage. But clearly, it was and is the right thing for us to do. I now look back at My oldest son’s life, my life (and that of my father’s) and wonder how things might have been different. My IQ is just below genius and yet, I’ve always been the geek and underacheiver. My father never graduated from high school. Instead was given a certificate of attendence. He taught himself to read when he was in his forties.
As for videos, they can be made to tell whatever story you wish.

How to Find the Perfect Vitamin Supplement For Your Unique Body

Consumers are being bombarded with advertising, medical studies and word-of-mouth wisdom about vitamins and mineral supplements. Almost every week a new scientific study proclaims the virtues of vitamin this or that.

RDAs are “Grossly Oversimplified” For Vitamins and Supplements

RDA’s (Recommended Daily Allowance) are also used to set standards in many programs. But many nutritional scientists consider them to be out of sync with the needs of many Americans. The RDA takes the stand of the mythical “average” that was created from a lot of scientific and mathematical “averages” computed from a group of people somewhere on the planet. Averages have become grossly oversimplified, where fixed but arbitrary set points have been established for a variety of factors.

So, many consumers today take vitamins and minerals in amounts that far exceed the recommended doses to prevent chronic illnesses, like heart disease, and they rarely have reliable sources for direction.

Can You Really Get The Nutrition You Need Without Taking A Vitamin or Supplement?

The fact is food alone cannot supply some nutrients in amounts sufficient to prevent disease. For example, vitamin E at levels considerably higher than the current RDA has been linked by a number of researchers with the prevention of heart disease and improved immune function.

Calcium-fortified orange juice, Vitamin-enhanced waters, Fortified cereals and energy bars. Everywhere you turn, new products are showing up on supermarket shelves touting added vitamins and minerals.

If you already take a multi-vitamin and mineral tablet, add a calcium or vitamin E supplement on top of that, and eat a few fortified food products along with a fairly healthy diet, you are now out of balance with too many vitamins and minerals.

Is More Really Better When It Comes To Taking Vitamins and Supplements?

Americans tend to think that more is better, or that if it’s natural, it can’t harm you, and that is particularly true when it comes to vitamins and minerals. But that’s not always the case. Some people habitually overdo it with vitamins and minerals and suffer the consequences.

Serious Consequences For Over Doing Vitamins and Supplements

Here are a few examples. Most people think if they take too many water soluble vitamins (like B vitamins and vitamin C) they will just get washed out in the urine, this is true, but it can put extra stress on the kidneys and liver. A more serious problem with water soluble vitamin B6, is that, over time, it can cause nerve damage if taken in excessive amounts.

Vitamin C is another that people tend to take in large quantities, mainly in the form of supplements, and often in an attempt to stave off colds and illness. But at 2,000 milligrams or greater, it can cause digestive upset, and people don’t typically associate stomach upset with the fact that they are taking vitamin C. Vitamin C enhances iron absorption and research has shown excess amounts may increase the risk of liver cancer and heart disease in people with iron overload.

Here Comes The Vitamin Deficiency

By continuing to follow established dietary patterns, an individual or an entire family soon develops long term deficiencies and excesses. Most people repeat basically the same diet over months and years, often extending to generations.

The balanced diet one size fits all is a myth. There is only biochemical individual balanced diets. So we are back to genetics. Our genes determine the chromosomes, and the latter are responsible for the presence and efficiency of the body’s enzyme systems. If the enzymes do not function, one will develop a diagnosable disease, usually one that is lurking in the family background. If we could discover the weak enzyme then we could be more specific in the application of the appropriate vitamin or mineral to make that enzyme function more efficiently.

An Easy CURE to the Vitamin and Supplement Debate: It’s Based On Person’s Smell & Taste

The olfactory or smelling sense helps to indicate deficiencies or excesses. John L. Kitkoski spent considerable time and effort to find the key to a spectrum for dietary supplementation selection system and a methodology following human olfactory (smell). When you open a bottle of smell sensitive dietary supplement, what you smell is what is on the label. What you smell is what you get. Many people like the smell of a particular vitamin or mineral and yet they have no symptoms suggesting a deficiency. It suggests, however, that some problem is on its way.

As biochemical individuals there is no “one symptom means one deficiency” method. Illness is not a particular vitamin or mineral deficiency but a complex relationship between ratios.

The Perfect Vitamin and Supplement Program On Earth!

Life Balances is the only self directed health program in America today. The program was built around the biochemical individual.

Many people are concerned about the source of their vitamins. There are really a few things that the best vitamin supplement has. The first is that the vitamin supplement is volatile, which means its made so that it is broken down correctly in the body. The second is that the vitamin supplement is smell sensitive. Unfortunately, no other vitamin supplement on the market is smell sensitive.

Life Balances patented smell sensitive vitamins (available at ensure that each person can correctly guide themselves through their nutritional needs by smell and that each vitamin is volatile, so it is correctly absorbed. They have the two most important vitamin benefits of any vitamin supplement on the market.

Once you discover them, you’ll never have to guess which vitamins and supplements you need.

Why Would IRON Ever Be Added to ANY Supplement, Containing Vitamin E ?

Those Compounds “Inhibit” each others’ Absorption.

Wouldn’t it be more beneficial if These were taken at different times of the day ??

Unfortunately, there is no Biochemistry Section on this Site.

Because it looks good on the label and supplements are of no value anyway, and because the folks who buy them don’t understand the difference anyway. By the way, the combination of Fe and Vitamin C is worse, and quite common.

Will all these vitamins for my acne and such be good for me?

I am taking green tea extract 500 mg twice a day and drinking 4 cups of green tea a day to help acne. I also take 3 ALA supplements a day too. will I be okay if I add 2 50mg zinc supplements and vitamin e also? I’m hoping that this will stop breakouts and clear it up.

It’s so good that you’re willing to take supplements to treat your acne instead of going from product to product. I mean your not deficient in Clearasil or Proactive are you? I don’t know about the supps your taking now for acne, but I know vitamin A could help your skin A LOT. Zinc also helps the skin and has shown to in many studies but this is because it is involved in vitamin A utilization, retention and metabolism. So taking the two is a good idea just in case you’re deficient in one or the other, or both!

“Zinc and vitamin A interact in several ways. Zinc is a component of retinol-binding protein, a protein necessary for transporting vitamin A in the blood. Zinc is also required for the enzyme that converts retinol (vitamin A) to retinal. This latter form of vitamin A is necessary for the synthesis of rhodopsin, a protein in the eye that absorbs light and thus is involved in dark adaptation. Zinc deficiency is associated with decreased release of vitamin A from the liver, which may contribute to symptoms of night blindness that are seen with zinc deficiency (14, 15).

Taking large quantities of zinc (50 mg/day or more) over a period of weeks can interfere with copper bioavailability. High intake of zinc induces the intestinal synthesis of a copper-binding protein called metallothionein. Metallothionein traps copper within intestinal cells and prevents its systemic absorption (see Copper). More typical intakes of zinc do not affect copper absorption and high copper intakes do not affect zinc absorption.”

Taking zinc in a multimineral formula would be better than taking it alone because of the above situation. Also you want to be taking the right vitamin A. Only vitamin a from fish oil is as RETINOL and this is the natural vitamin A that only causes toxicity at VERY HIGH doses compared with the synthetic versions that are toxic even in smaller amounts. All vitamin A in multivitamin preparations are SYNTHETIC. According to the study below, doses between 300,000 and 500,000 IU are only effective for acne but also caused a little overdose which only caused dry skin and chapped lips. I would suggest possibly 100,000 IU each day for a few months and look out for hypervitaminosis A (too much vitamin A). But please do your research. Also vitamin C reduces the toxicity and vitamin D should also be taken with vitamin A and is usually found together in fish oil caps. Vitamin E is very important also because it also extends the life of vitamin A in the body. Without enough vitamin E, vitamin A is destroyed by oxygen. See it’s complicated every nutrient interacts with another so it’s always best to get a bit of everything.

It’s very important to get your vitamin D levels checked BEFORE you take supps of it. Hope this helps.

Oh one more thing, you will only absorb vitamins A, D and E if you take them with some sort of fat (butter, crieeam, cheese, oilive oil) otherwise you’re just wasting your money. When you eat fat, bile is released which is ESSENTIAL for absorbing these nutrients. If there’s no fat they are not absorbed and you will think they aren’t working. Good luck

Adhd Symptoms Can Confuse Experts

It is shocking to find that a large number of professionals do not recognize ADHD symptoms in children. Even worse is that the percentage of teachers and educators that can correctly identify many of the signs of ADHD. Many of them even display a somewhat warped perception about what ADHD really involves. Most schools and pediatric offices have pamphlets available with descriptions of the most common ADHD symptoms, but all too often people lump all behavior problems under this heading.

Thousands of parents have described episodes of schoolteachers, principals, or even medical professionals who cheerily toss out suggestions that they use ADHD medications to treat any perceived signs of ADHD. It is as though they believe that the pills offer some type of miracle cure for a condition that is all too real. What these drugs do is introduce risky chemicals into your child’s body. These medications can sometimes quickly decrease certain hyper behaviors but they are only acting as a camouflage for signs of ADHD.

ADHD symptoms are usually easy to spot because of the hyperactivity component. Although many of these students may fidget and squirm in their seats, or lose their train of thought, it does not mean that they are behavior problems or unable to learn. Sometimes the ADHD symptoms can be displayed as withdrawn behavior and nervous tics. Trying to steer parents and their kids to prescription medications because a child shows signs of ADHD is hardly the healthiest and safest way to offer help. All professionals who work with children should be made aware of what the real signs and symptoms of this condition are.

Children who have ADHD symptoms may show one or more of the following behaviors:

• Often interrupt others

• Find it hard to wait their turn

• Sometimes act impulsively

• Have trouble sitting still

• Often talk frequently and loudly

• Sometimes fail to see the consequences before they act

• Have difficulty concentrating

• Show difficulty with organization

• Forget rules, tests, and homework assignments

• Lose focus frequently

• Daydream

• Tune in to something that they find more interesting, like a picture or a tree outside a window.

• Become bored easily

• Focus on one small object intently while losing track of other things around them

• Almost always be extremely intelligent

• Have larger than normal personal space boundaries

• Have difficulty maintaining eye contact with others

• Be able to listen and understand information and lessons while possibly fiddling with a pencil.

• Have to be reminded of deadlines and assignments

Children with signs of ADHD can benefit from having a treatment plan developed that utilizes natural ADHD supplements instead of prescription drugs. There should also be a more structured environment that includes fewer distractions and is non-punitive. There are a number of safe, organic products that can help improve a child’s ability to focus and stay on task. These ingredients have no associated side effects and can minimize or alleviate the signs and symptoms of ADHD.

Liquid Vitamins And Minerals Basics

Liquid vitamins and minerals have been talked about more and more over the last few years as medical research has shown standard hard vitamins to be less effective in getting the needed nutrients to the body. This article discusses the basic information on what liquid vitamins and minerals are and how they are important to you.

To start with, liquid vitamins and minerals are a superior nutrition supplement that includes all of the vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants associated with any vitamin. They are superior because they provide a much more effective means for the body to receive those nutrients, and are therefore much healthier than your common chewable vitamin.

The medical community has been announcing for years that people are not getting enough vitamins and minerals. A recent study shows that only 2 in 5 people in America take any sort of vitamin on a regular basis. Its no wonder that scientists estimate over 99 percent of the world population has some sort of mineral, vitamin, or general dietary deficiency.

To add to this issue, recent research has shown that the typical vitamin is nearly useless in delivering the addition nutrients the body requires. This means that even the 40 percent of people in the US who do add vitamins to their daily diet are still not getting the full amount of nutrients.

Why are vitamin takers not getting the nutrients they need? It is because your typical vitamin, whether chewable or meant to be swallowed, is not easily digestible. Instead of breaking down and getting taken into the blood stream, the hard vitamins are flushed through the intestinal system before the body has a chance to absorb.

It is estimated that less than 15 percent of a vitamins nutrients are actually absorbed into the body. While this means that the vitamins are not completely worthless, it is staggering how little effect they have on improving an individuals health. When you consider that many people use vitamins as an excuse to continue eating unhealthy and over processed food, it becomes painfully obvious that a better source of nutrients is needed.

This is why liquid vitamins and minerals were developed. We need vitamin supplements that work, and liquid supplements are easy to break down and absorb into the blood stream. Not only that, but they are made from organic natural ingredients, which means you are absorb the exact kind of nutrients your body wants.

We hope this basic information on liquid vitamins and minerals has helped you in your research on health and nutrition and strongly encourage you to join the many new liquid vitamin fans. To your health.

Are there any natural ways to curb ADD and improve concentration?

I mean like specific foods to eat, or vitamins, as well as things to avoid. I have a terrible time concentrating, and I’m on enough meds right now as it is so I don’t want to go on adderal.

I’ll tell you a few things that I have found, from my own personal experience, that have helped improve my ADHD symptoms. I do not take any medication to help my concentration, I have always used natural strategies to deal with my attention problems.

One of the most important things for me is to eat as healthy and balanced of a diet as I can. Make sure you get the following every day:

– Fresh fruits and vegetables. Fruit in a can that is soaked in sugary syrup does not count. Chopping up fruit beforehand and keeping it in a Tupperware container makes it an easy snack. The vitamins and minerals in fresh produce help your brain and body work to their ultimate potential, which helps you stay focused.

– Protein! I personally will eat any source of protein, but some people prefer to stick to only the lean meats like chicken and turkey. I’ve never had a weight or cholesterol problem so I eat whatever I want, your own dietary choices might be different. I like to cook up chicken, chop it up, and mix it with mayonnaise and curry powder for a delicious, fast curry chicken salad. (Can you tell that I like quick, easy food?) Protein is an important building block of amino acids, which are important throughout our entire body but especially the brain. If your brain is lacking in amino acids, then it won’t function as well, leading to poorer concentration.

– Dairy. You should be getting 3 servings a day.

– Complex carbs. Do not eat simple carbs like white bread, non-whole wheat crackers, cakes, cookies, etc. except as special snacks. Simple sugars make your blood sugar spike, then drop, which makes you mentally foggy and makes it even harder to concentrate and pay attention. Complex carbs like whole grains stabilize your blood sugar which helps you stay alert and focused.

It’s also important to make sure you’re getting enough essential fatty acids (the omegas) in your diet, because they are important for healthy brain function. They are also good for mood, and when your mood is good, your attention improves greatly. There are natural sources of omega 3’s like olive oil, flaxseeds, avocados, etc. so try to incorporate those into your diet. I cook everything in extra virgin olive oil instead of butter, that way I can fit some of those omega fatty acids into my diet without having to buy supplements. I fry eggs, meat, etc. in the oil and not only is it healthier than butter, but I honestly think it tastes better.

You can also take dietary supplements like fish or flaxseed oil (mentioned above) to help improve brain function, if you don’t think you’re getting enough omega fatty acids in your diet. Some people say that supplements like ginko help with memory and concentration, I’ve never personally tried them so I can’t say from experience. But I do know that the more balanced and varied my diet is, the sharper I feel mentally.

I’ve also found that sometimes you just have to listen to your brain and work with it, instead of against it. For example, when you’re studying, don’t try to sit down and study for 2 hours straight – your attention span simply can’t handle it, and you will only end up frying yourself out and getting anxious about it. Study for 30 minutes, then take a 15 minute break to get up and do something else. Then come back and study for 30 more minutes, then take another break. This is how I’ve always studied and it helps me retain information better because it works WITH my attention span, instead of against it.

I hope some of that helps. Good luck!

Why Herbal Remedies For ADHD Can Be More Effective Than Drugs

You may have heard about herbal remedies for ADHD. Perhaps you have also done some research. In this article, you will learn why some parents and professionals believe that these supplements are much more effective than drugs and what to look for in a good quality product.

An herbal ADHD remedy contains natural ingredients that reduce the symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, but what makes them different or even better than drugs? In order to answer this question, let’s first take a look at the pros and cons of prescription drugs.

Prescription drugs have been on the market for decades and new drugs are being developed all the time. You are probably most familiar with the stimulant, Ritalin, which is used to curb the symptoms of ADHD, and today, you can there are other stimulants as well as non-stimulating drugs. The idea behind using a stimulant to suppress symptoms like hyperactivity, impulsivity and aggression is that kids have paradoxical symptoms: what would increase these symptoms in adults works the opposite in kids.

While prescription drugs can be faster acting than herbal remedies for ADHD, they may not be nearly as effective in the long run when you consider all the negatives of giving your children drugs. First of all, drugs have side effects. Some kids are just more sensitive to them than others. Another important finding of long term studies is that ADHD drugs make some kids’ symptoms better, while it makes other kids much worse. If you’ve spent any time on ADHD forums, you know that you can usually find a parent worrying about how a prescription drug has increased her child’s symptoms. Of course, finally there are the concerns about addiction. After all, if you give your child drugs, you may be giving him a stimulant and stimulants can be addictive. There is also the concern that this sets up a pattern of coping with problems by using drugs. Of course the jury is still out on this one, but it is certainly something to think about.

By contrast, a good herbal ADHD remedy has none of these concerns. Yes, it might take a couple of weeks to build up in the system before you start seeing a reduction in symptoms, but when you learn about all the benefits of this type of treatment, you’ll realize that the wait is worth it. While drugs only suppress the symptoms, natural remedies actually give the brain the nutrients it needs to improve its function. Obviously, there are no concerns about addiction or side effects. If your child is currently taking a drug and you want to try a natural remedy, you can reduce the drug while adding a natural supplement without any drug interaction worries. Of course, you should always consult your physician when making a change in your child’s medication.

There are many ADHD natural supplements on the market today. Since you want to help your child get better fast before he gets even further behind in school and his social circle, you need to know that all supplements are not all created equal. To find a good formulation look for one that has been FDA-approved, has clinically proven ingredients such as Arsen Iod, Verta Alb and Tuberculinum and has a money back guarantee. Supplements that meet these guidelines are among the best, most effective herbal remedies for ADHD.

Realize that a good supplement is just part of a program to turn around Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. A sound diet, lots of fresh water, and daily exercise will boost the effectiveness of the supplement, getting your child quickly and firmly back on track and improving the quality of life for everyone in your family.

Herbal supplement for ADHD?

I have a 5 year old son who has been diagonosed with ADHD as of yesterday. The Dr. has prescribed Focalin XR 5mg once a day. I am stressing so much over giving him drugs. He is having a hard time concentrating in school and he may be held back if he doesn’t do better. I purchased a bottle of Focus Formula for ADHD and I REALLY want to try it,but I’m curious as to if anyone has tried an herbal remedy for ADHD. Anyone have any opinions??

* Herbal and Homeopathic Remedies – A number of parents have tried natural remedies as an alternative to psycho-stimulants and other drugs. Small trials have found some agents, such as oral flower essence, Ginkgo biloba, Panax ginseng, and melatonin may possibly have benefits for ADHD.

There are homeopathic remedies which effectively target some of the disruptive symptoms of ADHD and allow the child to concentrate more easily. Natural remedies should be considered as a first step ahead of prescription psychiatric drugs. When combined with strong dietary control, counseling as necessary, and a healthy lifestyle, natural remedies have been show to be effective in helping to alleviate the symptoms of ADHD.

* Dietary Approaches. A number of diets have been suggested for people with ADHD. Various studies have reported behavioral improvement with diets that restrict possible allergens in the diet.

u may want to discuss with their health care professional, homeopath, or naturopath regarding implementing an elimination diet of certain foods or adding supplements that might help. This is a very individualized approach and would differ from child to child. Always consult a nutritional expert before restricting the diet of any child.

* Feedback approaches. A technique that uses auditory (sound) feedback may prove to be an effective tool for increasing children’s attention.

* Neurofeedback. This technique uses electronic devices to help the child control their own brain wave activity.

* Interactive metronome and musical therapy. Feedback from sound is used to improve attention, motor control, and certain academic skills.

* Massage and relaxation techniques. Massage therapy can help ADHD children to feel more relaxed, fidget less, be less hyperactive, and focus on tasks. Other methods include reflexology, relaxation training, meditation, and music therapy.

Behavioral Therapy

For parents worried about over-medicating children who have attention problems, behavioral therapy may be a welcome addition to treatment. This type of therapy, carried out under the supervision of a psychologist, helps someone with ADHD alter their behavior and thought patterns to learn how to relate to others and succeed.

Other forms of treatment that may benefit the child with ADHD include:

* Social skills training. This can help a child with ADHD learn behaviors that will help them develop and maintain social relationships.

* Support groups and parenting skills training. Education and support for the parents can be an integral part of treating ADHD in children.

Adhd Supplements And Vitamins Treatment – The Benefits Of Nutrition For Adhd Patients

If you are parent of an ADHD child or you have ADHD yourself it is likely that you have already tried a number of ADHD therapies. Medications may have been your first option and although these tend to work, the benefits are short lived and there are number of controversies surrounding them in relation to side effects. There are other alternative solutions to ADHD such as biofeedback, sensory integrative therapy, behavioral therapy, individual therapy, herbal remedies and nutritional intervention. The latter advocates that with the proper consumption of supplements and vitamins, ADHD symptoms can be improved.

All of these methods are effective and while they may be used as stand alone treatments, many health professionals believe that combining the different modes of treatment simultaneously create far better results than using only medications or behavioral therapy or any one of the others.

ADHD Vitamin One treatment that is gaining in popularity is nutritional intervention through the adoption of a diet and vitamin supplements that supplies all the essential nutrients required for optimal brain functioning.

Researches agree that ensuring the recommended daily intake of vitamins is reached could help both in the general health of an ADHD patient and in moderating some symptoms of ADHD. While there are plenty of vitamins available in food, we don’t always get enough. This can be due to making the wrong food choices and relying on fast or processed foods or only having a limited diet with little fresh fruits and vegetables.

The theory behind vitamin treatment is that replenishing or supplying vitamins that are deficient in the body could help improve the symptoms of ADHD.

Among the handful vitamins that are thought to alleviate the symptoms of ADHD are those that promote neurochemical development in the brain that control behavior. These neurochemicals are serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine.

ADHD VitaminsVitamin B6 for example is among the vitamins that help the brain develop. It is vital to ensure the nervous system functions correctly and controls excitable behavior. Therefore a deficiency in B6 may lead to hyperactive behavior. In a clinical study researchers took 52 hyperexcitable children and gave them vitamin B6, along with magnesium for 3 – 24 weeks. The results showed a reduction of excitable behavior in all the children after 1 – 6 months treatment.

Sticking with the B vitamins, methyl-B12 (a form of vitamin B 12) has shown to improve attention and focus.

Moving onto supplements, magnesium is a mineral that some children with ADHD lack. Magnesium deficiencies can be accompanied by light or restless sleep and can lead to hyperactivity. Magnesium acts as a relaxant for nerve impulses as well as muscle contractions. It also encourages a reduction in hyperactivity and could induce deeper sleep.

Zinc is another mineral where a number of children with ADHD have a deficiency. According to a study carried out in 1996 ADHD children’s level of zinc are 2/3 the level of children without ADHD. Zinc is essential for memory and the ability to think clearly. Supplementing with zinc has also shown to improve IQ.

Although a ‘cure’ for ADHD does not exist, there are many anecdotal reports of children being able to stop or reduce medication after following a program of receiving proper nutrition, which includes vitamins and minerals along with diet modifications and behavioral therapy. Introducing supplement and vitamins ADHD treatment should be safe to do alongside medications, however, it is best to speak to your doctor to ensure there will be no adverse reactions.

Would there be any harmful effects in taking a one-a-day vitamin supplement twice in a 24-hour period?

I am wondering if taking a Centrum One-a-day multivitamin twice a day for added vitamins would be harmful, or just more beneficial. The bottle says it contains 100% of the daily values of 11 different vitamins and minerals, but would there be harm in getting 200% of the daily recommended amount of some of these? Thank you.

Your body wont absorb it all… so you will be wasting money.

Adhd Natural Products – What Reviews Have Been Done?

If you have just seen the price tag on prescription medication for ADHD such as Ritalin, Risperdal or Concerta, then you may start having legitimate doubts about whether this is really the way to treat ADHD. Then, when you read the FDA warnings on the packets about possible side effects which range from drug dependency to heart problems and even sudden death, you may ask yourself if there are natural products for ADHD and what the reviews on these products are.

Research has been done on the effectiveness of ADHD natural products and they score just as well as the psychostimulant drugs, but without all the nasty side effects. In one test, the natural products did as well, if not better than the drugs in helping the kids to focus and in improving their self control.

Natural Products?

If your child has been defined as a ‘brat’ or ‘disruptive’ or a ‘space-cadet’ or ‘lazy’ by his or her teacher, you may be concerned that ADHD is a possibility. That will have to be diagnosed by a doctor or paediatrician. The main cause of ADHD is that the front part of the brain is only working at minimum efficiency – just ticking over. This is what causes the child to be fidgety, restless and lacking in concentration. So the brain needs stimulation but by giving kids psychostimulant drugs, there are some serious risks. But natural products can also stimulate the brain. You may be curious to know what is in these products. Omega3 fatty oils, Gingko Biloba and essential minerals like zinc an magnesium are in some natural products. But many of these substances can be found in a well balanced diet.

A Homeopathic Remedy?

Friends of mine with hyperactive children have opted for a homeopathic medicine and they have had excellent results. The ingredients are Hyoscyamus, Verta alb and Arsen iod. These remedies help to calm restlessness, temper outbursts and generally calm kids down. They are also effective in bringing emotional stability and have a soothing effect on the children’s nerves. You have to make sure that they are made by a company which is registered by the FDA.

Parents Over The Moon!

I found parents were enthusiastic. Some used to dread the school reports but after their kids were on this natural ADHD product, even for a short while, they were getting great grades and excellent reports. Kids are quieter and easier to manage and even loveable again!

Other parents were at their wits’ end and feared for the stability of their marriage as disruptive kids ran amok in the house- so much so that there was constant screaming and shouting. Now that they are on this natural product, calm has been restored and one of the children ,once labelled as a ‘disruptive brat’ by his teachers, will sit quietly and read a book. Bliss!

If you want to check out natural products for ADHD which will not make you bankrupt and above all are safe for your child’s health, visit the site below for more information.

I am very concerned about putting a 7 yr old on a stimulant. I would like to know if there are any other homeopathic methods to assist in treatment of ADD/ADHD

My brother has this too & my parents didn’t want to do the drug thing either. Changing the diet does wonders. If possible cut out sugary products. If you bake use honey & also check the labels. Fructose Corn Syrup can really wire kids that are susceptible with ADD. Another huge change should be cut out all foods with red food dye. Hot dogs are filled with this. No soda pop or diet pop. Nutrasweet also seems to stimulate many children with ADD.

Here’s the official diet:

While science has yet to fully embrace the diet-behavior connection, there is sound evidence from physicians, parents, and researchers that diet does play a role in the condition. In 1975, Dr. Feingold published his diet as a direct link to the minimization of ADD/ADHD symptoms. His #1 culprit: Food additives in the form of artificial preservatives and colorings. Other leaders in diet therapy have similar theories. Common dietary guidelines for people suffering with ADD/ADHD include:

Avoidance of food colorings and dyes listed as FD&C Yellow #5, Red #40, Blue #1

Avoidance of three main food preservatives BHA, BHT and TBHQ. These are not often listed on food labels, but check for the term “antioxidants” or call the food manufacturer
directly. These are made from petroleum.

Avoidance of additional preservatives, such as monosodium glutamate, nitrates, sodium benzoate, and sulfites.

Avoidance of aspirin-like chemicals and salicylates. (70 % of people showed improved learning and behavior)

Elimination of dairy products

Avoidance of yellow foods

Decreased amount of sugar in diet with no more than 10%, if

Elimination of fruit juice (mostly sugar or high fructose corn syrup)

Avoidance of processed meats

Avoidance of all junk food (packaged foods)

A really good book “Parenting Children with ADHD” by Vincent J. Monstra, PhD

Also “Ritalin-Free Kids” is a great book, here’s the link on amazon:

Make breakfast protein based (15-20 Gms. suggested) instead of the usual carbohydrate-loaded breakfast .

I would also suggest getting your son food allergy tested

Also, they make a chewable Omega 3 for kids that is great to get extra neurologic support

3 Steps to Treating ADHD Naturally and Effectively

Treating ADHD naturally without drugs is a safe and effective way to minimize symptoms, so your child can learn to focus in school and at home, get back on track and catch up with other kids. In this article, you’ll learn three simple ways to help your child that will make a big difference in his life.

But first a few words about prescription drugs. While drugs are effective for some kids (especially those who have severe ADHD), they are not the best possible solution. This is because all drugs have side effects and some can be quite severe. Others can stunt your child’s development, especially when the side effects include symptoms like an inability to sleep or stomach issues that make your child not want to eat. You’re probably already worried about your child’s development anyway and it doesn’t help that drugs can make things worse. This is just one of the reasons more and more parents are treating ADHD without meds.

Other reasons include worries about addiction and unknown long term side effects on the developing brain. These are big concerns in and of themselves.

Treating ADHD naturally begins with a good diet. Although there are many good supplements for ADHD on the market today, they work best when your child is eating a balanced diet and getting lots of nutrients from his food. Focus on feeding your child lean meat like turkey, chicken and buffalo and lots of fresh vegetables, especially leafy greens which are packed with phytonutrients. Stay away from sugary sodas and processed junk food. If your child craves sweets, serve a fresh fruit salad with a dollop of real, whipped cream. If your child is used to eating a junk food diet, you will have to make healthy changes slowly over time.

While you’re making changes in your child’s diet, get him on a supplement. There are many supplements on the market and some are better than others. Look for one that has been FDA-approved and contains clinically proven ingredients like Verta Alb, Arsen Iod, Hyoscyamus and Tuberculinum. These are herbs that have been standardized and formulated for treating ADHD naturally and are gentle, highly effective and with regular use, can actually restore proper function to the brain. The ingredients will soothe your child’s mind, so he can concentrate, stay on task and curb outbursts, hyperactivity and impulsivity. Best of all, you don’t have to worry about side effects at all.

The third step in treating ADHD without meds is to make sure your child gets daily exercise. Exercise rejuvenates the mind and body and eliminates the stress that causes hyperactivity, tantrums and outbursts. The exercise should be fun, even something that you do together, like playing catch in the backyard, shooting some hoops or going on a bike ride in the park. Playing team sports is also another good way to go because it helps your child be active with other kids within a given structure.

So there you have it: a simple, but effective program for treating ADHD naturally that will minimize your child’s symptoms, heal dysfunction in the brain and help your child enjoy a normal childhood. Resolve to get started today. Your child’s health and future depend on it.

Way are some natural ways to treat ADHD that WORK, significantly if possible?

What are some natural supplements or something I can do to help without prescriptions. I’m tired of all of these shady answers online and just want to get to the core of the issue. Thank you

Smoking weed wouldn’t help. If THC would help at all it would be in smaller doses than smoking it would get you. I have ADHD and smoking weed does not help, it just makes me even more lazy.

Not sure of anything natural that works myself. I’d like to know as well.

What can be used to add enzymes to your diet?

I’ve heard that enzymes can help bad breath, digestion, heartburn, and a number of other things. What is a good source of enzymes? I’m looking for a food that can be added into my diet, or a natural organic vitamin or supplement. And what are all the health benifits of drinking vinager daily?
Our bodies produce enzymes naturally, but they aid in digestion and the other things that I posted in my question. Also drinking Vinager burns fat in the body. We get ulcers from other things we eat. I thought this was the Alternative Medicine Board!

The source of enzymes that you are looking for to aid digestion and hearburn is pineapple and papayas. You can buy papaya enzymes at Wal-mart. They are very inexpensive and taste delicous. I use them all the time for heartburn. If I’m out I eat pineapple or drink pineapple juice. You can also eat fresh papaya. Papaya contains the enzyme papain which is beneficial in many ways. If you want to research this further go to your search bar and type in “benefits of papaya” and “benefits of pineapple”. Hope this explains it for you! Good Luck!

Choosing the Proper Supplements: Where Do I Begin?

If you are starting to enhance your diet with additional vitamins, herbs, minerals or other supplements, you are probably wondering whether you are hitting all the key areas. Or perhaps you have not started to supplement your diet yet, and you aren’t quite sure where to begin. There is a huge body of information out there, and it can be overwhelming. Take a look at this simple supplement overview and find out how to get started.

You should probably begin by examining your individual dietary deficiencies.

For example, if you are a strict “meat and potatoes” eater, you may not be getting enough nutrients from fresh vegetables or fruits. In this case, you would likely want to supplement your diet with a multi-vitamin and perhaps even some additional vitamin C.

If you are a vegetarian, and consume no meat whatsoever, you may want to supplement with a B-complex as well as Zinc and other minerals, amino acids, and vitamins found predominately in beef and other meat sources.

If you find yourself occasionally eating chicken, but do not enjoy the taste of fish, you could supplement with fish oils, which are great for your cardiovascular health, your brain, and even your skin and temperament.

After carefully considering your diet and the nutritional holes it may have, you will have a basic understanding of where to start. Perhaps you already have the basics down, you know all of this information, and you are looking to branch out from here? Let’s take a look at the next steps.

First, it’s very important to make sure your body can tolerate any of the supplements you are about to ingest on a regular basis. If you are already taking any other drug, herb or supplement for some ailment or other reason, be sure that it is compatible with the new supplements you are proposing to take. The best way to be certain of this is to check with your doctor.

If you are a woman, you will want to start at half of the indicated dosage on the label. You need to take into account your size and frame, since many of the directions printed on supplement labels are for an average adult male. For example, if the label indicates that you should be taking four capsules daily and you are a 5’1, 100 lb woman, you may want to start with one or two capsules and work your way up if your body seems to tolerate the supplement well. Of course, if you are pregnant or nursing, the supplement should clearly indicate on the label whether or not it is safe. In the case of pregnancy or nursing, your doctor will know best.

If you are a man who is about to embark on a new supplement regimen, and your doctor gives you the go-ahead, you most likely won’t have these issues to worry about and you can take the supplements as directed on the label.

Once you have the dosage down, you may stay on the basic vitamin supplements for a few weeks to see how you feel. Often, people think they need to re-work all of their dietary habits or restructure their supplements completely, and they are happy to find that this is not the case. A little tweaking of their current regimen can and sometimes put them into a healthier state without having to go through an entire dietary upheaval.

If after a few weeks you do not really notice a difference in your health, stamina, energy, or fatigue levels, you should reevaluate what you are taking. You may need to increase the dosage, try a new regimen, or add additional supplements to what you are already taking. If after a few weeks you still do notice a marked improvement — say, to your energy levels — you may still want to add supplements so that other areas of your body function at a higher level.

For instance, perhaps your fatigue levels decrease after adding a B-complex to your diet. That is wonderful! Now you may have the energy to get those daily workouts in that you kept missing because you were just too tired. If this sounds familiar, those new workouts are indeed a wonderful addition to your life, but they will definitely cause stress on the body. Although it is a “good stress,” it is stress nonetheless. You may want to include a recovery or post-workout drink to your supplement routine now. It will help you replace electrolytes lost in your workout, as well as hydrate you and give you back crucial nutrients that were lost during perspiration and exertion. It can even help you to preserve the lean muscle mass your body is building.

There are so many ways to healthfully supplement your diet and your life. You just need a couple of good, solid building blocks to start with. The more you learn as you go, the more ability you have to create a healthy new you.
