difference between company and corporation?

what is the differnence between company and corporation?? thanksthanks

A corporation is one of three basic ways to organize a company. A proprietorship means you own the company yourself, and you ARE the company–its debts are also your personal debts. A partnership is similar, except that profits and debts are shared among several individuals according to a written agreement. Debts are also personal, and partners must agree on decisions. A corporation is a synthetic entity–it is treated like a person, though it isn’t human. Stockholders vote on decisions, or often thee is a board of directors. The President of CEO implements those decisions and has latitude on HOW to do it–the Board usualyy elects him. In large corporations there are often Financial (CFO) and Operations (COO) officers for other functions. The responsibility for debts rests with the stockholders; no one person or group of partners is personally responsible for them. My company is a Limited Corporation–I hold all the voting stock, since I am the only investor, but bankruptcy cannot touch my personal assets. I and my appointed officers receive salaries and benefits (not much, yet), and I am President and CFO and COO all wrapped in one. Sometimes you see, instead of “Inc.,” the letters “L.L.C” for such a business. Professionals such as doctors and lawyers protect their assets with a “P.C.”–a Personal Corporation. Aha! so that’s what that alphabet soup all means. In the English system, “Inc.” is usually rendered as “Ltd.” There are also nonprofit corporations–my lady has one to treat ADHD and autistic kids. They get special tax breaks and protections of assets because of their nonprofit status. Many hospitals use such a designation, too.

Is it dangerous to take both Trileptal and amphetmines?

Trileptal is a mood stabilizer and amphetamines are used to treat ADHD. I plan on asking my psychiatrist but for a faster response, do you know if it is dangerous to take both of them together daily? I know Trileptal is bad when mixed with antidepressants, alcohol, etc but I can’t find any information on it with amphetmines. Thanks!

Trileptal is a mild anticonvulsant and has an off label use in treating bipolar mania. While it’s prescribed as a mood stabilizer, it’s a very old drug and is less prevelant than Depakote, Lamictal and Topomax.

There are no negative interactions between trileptal and antidepressants, as they are commonly prescribed together to treat bipolar depression.

There are no negative drug interactions between Trileptal and amphetamine.

Unless you are eplieptic; you will not feel anything from taking trileptal. If you are bipolar, you may or may not feel something from trileptal.

adhd checklist

Anyone out there with ADD/ADHD? Can you help me please?

I’m 22 and for the past 4 years I’ve had this strong feeling that I have attention deficit disorder. I have practically every single symptom on all the checklists and this has been going on all my life for as long as I can remember.

I spoke to an organisation called DORE who said that I sound very much like someone with ADD. However, they charge over £2,000 for their treatment, so I felt a little sceptical and wondered if they just wanted my money!

I’m reluctant to see my doctor in case he thinks I am just a typical lazy student making excuses, or in case I appear to be a hypochondriac!

Can anyone give me advice about what I should do please?

xx Emmie
P.S. I’m in the UK
Sorry, I should have said – I’ve had the symptoms all my life – but it’s only in the last 4 years since I’ve been at Uni that I found out about ADD. I knew nothing about it before, but the symptoms were definitely there! Lol!

There is a lot of controversy about ADD ADHD and the medications.

The doctors never diagnose it, except with information from the parents and relatives of the child usually.

What they call ADD ADHD, I call normal, and other people have a stupidity disorder.

For example, my son can sit and read for hours, a book that he wants to read, but a textbook is really difficult because of ADHD. Is that a disease or a boring book?

My son can play video games for hours on end, and write down and memorize all the codes he needs to win, but listen to a lecture at school, and take notes, no way! Is that a disease or a boring lecturer?

My son won’t take the medication because he says it makes him feel stupid.

Whatever your solution is, good luck to you.

adhd routine

Please make suggestions for routine- ADHD 4 yr old and infant?

4 yr old with ADHD and major sensory seeking issues(a real firecracker)
5 month old-easygoing

This is what we’ve got that’s constant now:

7am-ish 4 yr old son wakes plays and eats
8am-baby wakes eats hangs in kitchen with mom while i eat and do dishes
10am ish- baby naps- I get shower
11am ish- start preparing lunch for 4 yr old
12:15 4 yr old on bus
12:45 ish run a quick errand
1:30/2pm baby nap time
3:15 son home from school
6pm dinner
8pm baby is in bed (half the time)
8:30 4 yr old to sleep

It’s hard because school is in the midle of the day and once my 4 yr old comes home he’s tired and more uhhhh…spazzy. But engaging him in activities he likes keeps him busy which is better for everyone. What should I change or add? Thanks for helping 🙂

I’d get him activities he can complete. Like modeling clay…so that it dries into sculptures. And the Elmer’s non-messy paint brushes. My daughter’s 5 and I have a 3 year old as well. Neither have ADHD, but my 5 yr old is very active…which is just normal for the age. Very hands on. Moon Sand is great. You can even get a table cloth (plastic) to put on the floor under him, get a dish rubbermaid tub and put some water with toy boats in it. Bubbles in those non-spill containers are great…and eventually those will keep the baby entertained too. Change it up every day. Work on letters and have him doing writing or coloring of work sheets.

How can I stop procrastinating?

I have big issues with waiting to do projects and homework until the last minute. I always miss sleep because I am doing homework that I could have done earlier. I am always distracted by, the tv, my dog, computer games, food, etc. What can I do to get motivated to do my homework? And to stop getting distracted!

I have the exact same problem (plus more!). Last year, I was diagnosed with ADHD, so…that seems to answer the question “WHY?” (why I’m distracted). But I still don’t know HOW I can stop this (..from getting distracted)!

Now, I’m starting my own “daily planner”…in hopes that maybe that will help me stay in track. And of course, I’ll have to force myself from saying “a little later”. =)

Well, at least keep in mind you aren’t alone!

i think i have ADHD can someone please help me?

Hi there i’ve just realized that i might have AD HD i often get bad grades at school. one of the teachers recommended that i go to see a doctor. i also took an online test and it says i suffer from it a bit… i would just like some confirmation can someone recommend a type of doctor to go to?

^ugh, another one of those “adhd doesn’t exist” people. My brother has severe adhd, it was actually causing him to get into accidents every single week and the school playground (chipped teeth, bruises, and he even broke his ankle) because he was so hyperactive, plus didn’t pay attention to anything..but it’s not like lecturing him on paying attention would have helped him any (because I think the answer above is basically a preachy lecture) but meds definitely did. He’s on concerta now (extended release form of ritalin) and his grades went from fail fail fail in elementary school to straight A’s in high school.

but be wary of using meds as a quick fix, a lot of people who are on them and don’t need them. They are one tool to work with…other things you can do is get audio tape versions of your text books (a lot of people with adhd have much more success concentrating with listening taped versions instead of trying to read text books) or take a class on study skills, get stress ball or silly putty to bring to class so you have something to do with your hands (believe it or not, having silly putty actually helps me concentrate)

and yes go to a doctor. ADHD means that your brain has difficulty with “executive functioning” which means that you struggle with organizing information, including stimuli you see, touch hear and smell..it’s kinda like having a huge corporation that has workers in every department but no CEO to lead and organize everyone.

Tips On Finding The Best Adhd Supplements

The estimate is that around 5% of all school-aged children have ADHD and the condition is on the increase; although this may partly be due to a better understanding of the disorder and the diagnostic guidelines being clearer. There is currently no cure for ADHD and many people rely on stimulant medications to alter behavior. However, these meds can come with undesirable side effects, which leads people to look at other alternatives. However, investing your money in alternative treatments and supplements can be quite risky. Here are some tips to help you find the best ADHD supplements:

1) Consult your doctor – Before buying any sort of ADHD supplement, you should definitely speak with your doctor to check if those supplements will not have any adverse reactions to any medications currently prescribed. By doing this, you will be able to make sure that the supplements you buy are completely safe. Choosing the best supplement involves studying whether or not they will have an adverse reaction to other medications. You may find they have some suggestions on where to purchase supplements from and which ones to avoid.

Another reason for consulting with your doctor is to arrange to have your blood tested for any vitamin or mineral deficiencies. There are arguments that suggest ADHD behaviors may be helped by removing any deficiencies. This way you’ll know what supplements to buy.

Continue reading for more tips on finding the best supplements for ADHD and to sign up for the free recognizing and treating ADHD newsletter below.

2) Read reviews – You will often see various companies claiming to have the best supplement in the market for ADHD. However, you should realize the fact that companies need to market their product. Instead of checking out the company’s site to see if you are in fact getting a great product, you should check out what other people have to say. Doing a search online will usually show you pretty quickly what people think of various supplements. This will help you determine whether you really are buying an ADHD supplement that will make a difference or if you are falling victim to a company’s marketing approach.

3) More is not necessarily better – A lot of different ADHD supplements available in the market today claim to have different substances which help relieve the symptoms of ADHD. However choosing the best ADHD supplement is not the same as choosing the ADHD supplement with the most ingredients. Choosing the best ADHD supplement means choosing the ADHD supplement which is most effective in relieving symptoms. Generally, you’ll find the same sort of ingredients in most ADHD supplements, only in varying quantities.

4) Try it out before you buy in bulk – Of course, finding the best ADHD supplements requires you to try them out. Order or buy a small bottle first and follow the instructions carefully. Make a note of any changes in behavior. This will help you determine if the effects of the ADHD supplements meet the company’s claims. If you notice improvement try to buy in bulk at a discount, if not you won’t have wasted a lot of money.

Does anyone have ADHD tips?

I’m ADHD and allergic to meds, does anyone have any good tips for concentrating?

ADHD: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
A person lacks attention for things which he has no interest in.
My son was diagnosed with this, but I did not allow them to give him drugs. He would not pay attention to his teachers in class, yet he could play Warcraft on the computer for 6 hours straight. No attention deficit there! He didn’t learn how to read & write until he discovered comic books at the age of 9. Now he reads quite well. If you have trouble paying attention to something, find ways of learning it in something that holds your interest. For more information on ADHD go to www.cchr.org.

adhd information booklet

I’m worried that I have ADHD?

I’m a 16 year old male, I’m in high school, i’m really worried that i have ADHD,and i really want to do good on my tests,
I always lose track of what the teacher is explaining and i have hard time concentrating for a long period of time (probably for 2 to 3 minutes), and sometimes i forget what i’ve just been told.

You don’t have it. Students have problems you have described.

Watch few minutes video with Dr. Mary Ann Block to find answers you are looking for.

No More ADHD

Dr. Mary Ann Block
“Because of my medical training, my goal as a physician is to look for and treat the underlying conditions causing the patient’s problem, rather than just covering up those symptoms with drugs. I have seen and treated thousands of children from all over the United States, who had previously been labeled ADHD and treated with amphetamine drugs. By taking a thorough history and giving these children a complete physical exam as well as doing lab tests and allergy testing, I have consistently found that these children do not have ADHD, but instead have allergies, dietary problems, nutritional deficiencies, thyroid problems and learning difficulties that are causing their symptoms. All of these medical and educational problems can be treated, allowing the child to be successful in school and life, without being drugged.”

adhd life coaching

Can people with ADD/ADHD join the military if they get therapy?

I know you can’t if you are on medicine, but what if you get therapy or a life coach. Can you join the military?

I am thinking I want to join to defend America, but I can’t because I take medication for ADHD and General Anxiety Disorder. So if I get off the medicine and get a life coach or something could I join?
Thomas SR: Just because I have a disability doesn’t mean I am unbalanced. I may have a disorder that can affect my learning and processing but I am just like every one else I just think differently.

I am not mentally ill.

You would get better answers in Military. You could probably also google this. Or call a recruiter.

These rules aren’t there to hurt you, they are there to protect you, as well as not place you in situations where you could hurt others.

I applaud your desire to support our nation. There are many ways to do this outside the military.

Relaxed at Work

Whilst everyone likes the idea of being relaxed at work it is difficult in most companies to find the necessary support to make real change. Three excuses may be heard repeatedly: no time, no space, or the managers wouldn’t accept it.

These answers indicate a lack of understanding of the true benefits of relaxation. Any manager who really knows the difference it can make will create space, time and support throughout the workplace.

An anecdote can only suggest the potential but such stories are becoming increasingly common.

The sales teams of a well-known London company had not made a single sale for two months. One morning they happened to have organised a one hour relaxation session for the whole team. The same afternoon they made £200,000 (around $560,000). Some of them thought it was pure coincidence. Others wondered whether there was some connection.

Apple Computers, Yahoo, and Google are three major international companies that actively encourage their employees to relax or meditate, at every level from executives down. After exercise, relaxation has been shown as the number 1 factor in improving performance. A little internet research will help develop the argument supporting relaxation in the workplace. Once that’s in place it’s time to find a way to implement it.

Some organisations, such as the Ministry of Transport in New Zealand, make special breakout rooms where people can relax during the day. The logic is simple. An agitated employee is good for nothing. It’s better to spend 30 minutes calming down and then work effectively thereafter, than to spend all day quietly fuming, unable to concentrate properly.

Ideally every company would make time for employees to relax daily, simply because of the results. Trelise Cooper, top Auckland fashion designer, brings all her staff together at 9.15 each morning for a short meditation, part of the holistic approach Trelise credits it for taking her business beyond her wildest dreams. But in a world that is less than ideal it is also quite acceptable to encourage people to do it at home. It’s not only good for work. It improves health, helps relationships, gives you more energy for family and social life and cuts down the need for stimulation by alcohol, smoking and coffee.

The real key is to prove that it works. HR staff are often more open to relaxation than other parts of senior management. A small pilot programme is the simplest way to spread the message more widely. Take some key performers in the organisation, preferably including those with clearly defined performance targets (for example sales staff) and invite them to take part in a relaxation programme for one month, say 20-30 minutes daily. Results speak more than a thousand arguments.

The really wise organisation will employ a specialist, someone who is expert in relaxation and whose sole role is to support staff to become happier and more relaxed. Smaller companies can band together to share a specialist, perhaps working online. The cost of a salary will more than outweigh the benefit to the company in increased revenue and reduced sick leave alone. Dr Sven Hansen, Director of Resilience Practice for PWC, with a special interest in developing leadership teams, says “We’re firing our brains to death with a gadget infested world. This is leading to adult attention deficit disorders, similar to the ADHD which is becoming so common in children. Leaders manage attention. If you can’t control your own attention, how on earth can you control the attention and strategy of a large organisation?” Or to put it more simply, “The relaxed mind works better.”

Should Your Child Be Taking Minerals And Vitamins For Adhd?

If your child has been diagnosed with ADHD it can be a little overwhelming. There is so much to learn, and everyone has an opinion about how you should be handling things. Chances are that you want to do whatever you can to help your child cope with their new diagnosis. The truth is that there are minerals and vitamins for ADHD that will help them through their day to day activities.

Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 is one of the mineral products for ADHD kids that can be really helpful in adjusting your child’s behavior. Vitamin B6 is actually one of the most important vitamins in the development of the brain. By incorporating this into your child’s diet you will be helping with the synthesis of their brains chemicals.

Iron

In terms of mineral products for ADHD kids, Iron is quite often one that kids with ADHD are low on. If you have an iron deficiency it can actually lead to a shorter attention span as well as a lack of social interactions. However, event though iron is quite vital in a child’s system you will want to be sure to consult their physician because if your child is not iron deficient excess iron in their system can be toxic.

Magnesium

One of the most important minerals and vitamins for ADHD individuals is Magnesium. For kids who do not have enough Magnesium in their system they can display signs of irritability, anxiety, and restlessness. In fact, studies have shown that 95% of all children with ADHD actually have a Magnesium deficiency.

Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs)

Some of the best mineral products for ADHD kids are the Essential Fatty Acids. Omega 3 and Omega 6 are probably the best known Essential Fatty Acids. Our bodies do not make these so your child must depend on their diet to get them these acids. They are quite common in cold water fish and vegetable oils.

Zinc

Children with ADHD typically have less zinc in their system than other children. Often a deficiency like this will reduce your child’s systems receptiveness to their prescription medications. Each child needs to be getting at least 15 mg of zinc per day. If your child is not getting that through their diet then you may want to look at providing them with a supplement.

Niacin

Another one of the minerals and vitamins for ADHD that you are going to want to include in your child’s diet is Niacin. Your brain depends on Niacin for the production of energy and to aid your brain in functioning properly. You will want your child to have at least 25-50 mg of niacin a day.

Vitamin B1

Minerals and vitamins for ADHD are vital for your child to be able to function properly, and Vitamin B1 is one of those essential vitamins. Vitamin B1 is actually really helpful for your child because it will help to improve their concentration and focus which can be severely impacted by their ADHD.

Now minerals and vitamins for ADHD will not completely solve your ADHD worries, but when combined with other treatment options, such as herbal and homeopathic remedies, they can be quite effective. By incorporating the following mineral products for ADHD kids into your child’s lifestyle you will be helping to lay the groundwork for a happy and healthy life.

Adhd Diet Recommendations

adhd diet recommendations

adhd diet recommendations

What is the best ADHD diet?

Certain additives like tartrazine (E102), an artificial yellow dye, have been known for many years now, to send children over the top and exhibit ADHD type behaviors. Other culprits lurking in your child’s diet include aspartame (E951) the artificial sweetener which occurs in so much of our food, tempting parents who think that too much sugar is probably the reason for their child’s behaviour and turn to low sugar drinks as the solution. This is sweetener is now established as a neurotoxin and is best avoided.

However, individuals can still have sensitivities to any ingredient, be it natural or artificial, so I have included a link here to a film which gives you a very simple fun way of muscle testing for yourself to find out whether or not specific additives or foods can be a problem.

It wouldn’t matter what ADHD diet you followed, if there was an unknown sensitivity to an underlying additive for example, it wouldn’t have the desired result of improving behaviour. Trying to find out which foods caused a problem would be like looking for a needle in a haystack, as the results would never be accurate or effective if the question of additives had never been addressed.

There can be no hard and fast rule of which foods to avoid generally as everyone is different and the additive can affect them in different ways. Take for example tartrazine, the one I mentioned above. This can create headaches in some people and hyperactivity in children so it is very difficult to source the root of the problem.

Ideally, of course it is helpful to take  a full allergy test with equipment like  a galvanometer. These are able to measure the body’s micro circuitry and the system established by a Dr Voll in the 1950s proved very accurate at identifying substances that varied the resistance in the flow of the body current. This gives you a powerful understanding into what can be an underlying cause of hyperactive behaviours. However not every household has access to this piece of equipment and professionals who use this method of testing may be hard to track down in your area.

The muscle testing video that I have recommended here is simple and effective and can give you a good idea of what may be affecting your child’s behaviour. To start the process of establishing a dietary suspect it is a very good idea to monitor the foods that your child takes with a food diary.

best kind of gluten free bread?

we are just now starting a gluten-free diet for the whole family. We have twins who have been put on it one for celiacs and one to try and help out with their ADHD and depression. We have two 12 year olds, a 4 year old, and a 4 month old. We bought some gluten free bread the Ener G white rice bread but none of the kids will eat it. Do you have any better recommendations?

Also any lunch box ideas?? Thank you so much 🙂

Gluten Free Breads are getting better and better. Rudi’s or Udi’s if they are available in your stores are pretty good. It really is a matter of experimenting with the different ones and finding one you like. My favorite is a flaxseed by Glutino but I understand that probably won’t work for little ones. If they don’t like a loaf, don’t throw it out but keep it and make croutons or bread crumbs for breading meats or meat loafs.

Potato chips are mostly ok. Frito-Lay is starting to label the ones that are gluten free but I am pretty sure Lays and Ruffles are GF. Stay away from the flavored ones unless they specifically say GF on the package. Cookies– you can find GF by glutino are generally pretty good. Pamela’s cookies are outstanding and are my favorites. Pamela’s also has a pancake mix that is great. Crackers– Crunchmaster is good (Costco carries these in a good sized box) Other snacks– Cashews, peanuts etc

Good luck

Adhd Classroom Strategies – Educating The Adhd Child

Adhd Classroom Strategies

ADHD

ADHD is an affliction that affects 9% of American children to varying degrees. The letters stand for “attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder” and it is characterized by an inability to pay attention and an inability to stay still for for a while periods of time. There is no single test that doctors use to diagnose this problem, rather properties use a combination of psychological tests and anecdotal evidence from a wide variety of sources. It began to come to the public’s attention something like 25 years ago and, as a result, became a catch-all diagnosis for multiple behavioral problems. Now, teachers and parents are more cautious before suggesting the present a child be tested for ADHD. In general, a child are required to exhibit six or more specific symptoms, for a month of six months, among two or a large amount of exact episodes, to be considered ADHD. Symptoms can include; constant motion, squirming, listening problems, predicament trifling quietly, incessant talking, interrupting, making easily distracted, and suffer situation finishing tasks. Adhd Classroom Strategies

It sounds like I have just described 50% of American children, but the key is that all of these traits must be unusually excessive. That is one reason why professionals are reluctant to diagnose children under six, although it can happen. The symptoms above make it clear why educating a child with ADHD could present a challenge. Adhd Classroom Strategies

Treatment And Education

Treatment for a child with ADHD can consist of medication, behavioral therapy, or a combination of both. Studies have shown that, for the most severe cases, a combination of medication and therapy works best. Once the ADHD is under control, or at least being treated, then the focus turns to the child’s education. There are a few options that are available for such a child. One, there are special boarding schools that admit only ADHD diagnosed children and all of the school’s resources are focused on education the ADHD child. These teachers have a specific specialty and do not have to divide their energies, thus, the children are in a more suitable learning environment. Two, a parent can elect to place their child in private school where the teacher-student ratios are lower. Three, parents can elect to home-school their child, which comes with it’s own set of problems. Many times, parents are not in a position to consider these options, so they will turn to the public school system. Adhd Classroom Strategies

Within the public school system, there are a few more options. If the parents and the school administration can agree on a strategy, it will be more helpful to the child. If not, the child can be assigned an educational advocate whose only concern is the welfare of the child. Sometimes, that can turn out to be the best option. Don’t let your love ones suffer anymore! Lead them out through Adhd Classroom Strategies program now!

Drugs – the Last Alternative for Adhd in Kids

Anyone over the age of thirty who has grown up with ADHD understands that there was not much help available. In fact, there was no name for it, let alone any programs available to help people with the problems they faced. Although the purpose here is not to explain what ADHD is or to tell personal stories or struggles with it, but rather to explain briefly many people’s belief that there are alternatives to drugs, who also believe drugs should be the last alternative only under the most extreme circumstances.

Many programs, classes and courses have been offered in recent years to help cope with learning disabilities. There is a new and exciting “Brain Training” Program that has just recently been introduced.

BrainSkills is a brand-new, up scale, brain training program for enhancing mental skills, your learning and processing capabilities.

First, let us say what BrainSkills training is NOT. BrainSkills is not like schoolwork. The authors seems to have deliberately made it different than classroom and homework assignments. It doesn’t teach subjects like math and history and social studies. It works on the underlying learning skills that are necessary for success in those academic subjects and many more.

BrainSkills training has a positive impact because it’s intense, sequenced and one on one. The exercises are really like physical therapy for your brain. Like games and contests, the training exercises are stimulating and satisfying.

With success comes the desire to do it again and again. As tasks are repeated skills are rewarded and new skills are strengthened.

Society today seems to want to put labels on everything, although many believe that labels for behavioral disorders are just so drugs can be prescribed by doctors, they do seem to make it easier in discussing problems such as ADHD. Aside from what the big drug manufacturers may want us to believe, the fact is that drugs should always be the very last alternative to any problem, certainly at least second to some positive training or learning program.

What’s the teacher’s role in biophysical medication? Are ADD/ADHD kids likely to have substance abuse problems?

Teachers cannot prescribe medications themselves, of course. And they should never pressure a parent to request medication for a child. The most that a teacher should do is offer to help the parent find psychiatric resources that could help the child in question.

Are you asking if ADD/ADHD kids are likely to become addicted to ADHD medications? Stimulants like Ritalin can be habit-forming, which is why they are a controlled substance. If used as directed, your child should not become addicted.

You might also be asking whether people with ADHD are likely to be addicts in general. Because compulsive/impulsive behavior is a symptom of ADHD, people with ADHD may also have addictive personalities. But this does not mean that evey person with ADHD will become an addict by any means. It does mean that people with ADHD should receive some form of treatment/coaching to learn how to deal with their condition.

How To Learn About Controlling ADHD Without Medication

The first thing to learn about controlling ADHD without medication is that a multidisciplinary approach is by far the best way to cope with ADHD in children. In Northern Ireland, the Education Minister has granted £2.5m to the setting up of the Pupil Emotional Health and Wellbeing (PEHAW). A similar programme exists in Scotland called the Mental Health First Aid Programme. Lots of teachers and parents are aware of child protection issues but when it comes to mental health problems like autism and ADHD, there is a severe shortage of knowledge.

The second thing to learn about controlling ADHD without medication is that medication itself cannot solve ADHD problems or even treat it in an adequate way. The most commonly prescribed drug is Ritalin whose main component is methylphenidate which is a Schedule II controlled substance. That puts it in the same category as cocaine! We now know that over 7 million children consume eight tons of Ritalin every year and the alarming thing is that a lot of these kids are getting it from other kids in the schoolyard and not from their family doctor. ADHD drugs can lead to substance abuse, have serious side effects and are risky for some categories of children with heart problems or psychotic disturbances. It is just another element in the insatiable appetite in the USA for drugs, both legal and illegal.

In Australia, there are worries that ADHD children are prescribed these medications for a very short time. The main worry is that unless other supports are up and running, then the child will risk having ADHD for life. What are these supports? How can we reduce medication by psychostimulants or indeed find an alternative ADHD therapy which will calm symptoms of ADHD?

ADHD behaviour therapy is now regarded as an essential support and that means learning parenting skills which will solve a lot of the problems associated with ADHD such as inattention, hyperactivity, oppositional and defiant behaviour and so on. Behaviour therapy is now recommended as one of the best ways of controlling ADHD without medication or at least reducing it to a bare minimum.

How else can we get away from medication ? There are now natural cures for ADHD which use homeopathics and they have no side effects nor do they carry any risks for the child’s health. They restore balance in the child’s brain and soothe the nerves while calming the child. These homeopathic remedies which are in the link below are made by one of the most reputable firms in the USA, carry a one year guarantee and have a facility which is approved by the FDA.

Adhd Organizer Guide

Friday, December 4th, 2009

adhd organizer guide

Coaching the Adhd Brain

The pill and then the skill. If you are serious about changing your life, medication alone may not be sufficient. Why? If you are an adult who has grown up with an under functioning brain you probably have a distorted negative perception of yourself and the world. With your newly tuned brain you need to learn new beliefs and habits. Coaching will guide you through this apprenticeship.

People with ADHD want to change because they are desperate to escape the chaos which dominates their lives. They often have a poor idea of how the world works and where they fit in. Medication helps the brain function better, but the belief systems are acquired early in life and if they are based on a faulty attention system they may be skewed.

The powerful effect of coaching comes from the safe friendly environment and the questions your coach asks. Questions are the keys your coach offers you to unlock your hidden resources. They lead you to think about alternatives, to explore new vistas and to choose the direction which best suits you. Making choices leads to ownership instead of victimization. The result is a new awareness of self. Your coach is a cheer leader who expects you to succeed. She is a mirror which reflects your strengths.

Coaching starts with an inventory of where the client is now and where he wants to go: his values, vision, and goals and the skills he has to manage life: organizing, planning, prioritizing and time management. He will choose two or three areas that he wants to focus on in coaching. In following sessions, held once a week by telephone, your coach hears your weekly success report, helps you explore problems that have arisen and asks you to choose and commit to your next steps for the coming week.

A successful coaching relationship requires honesty and a willingness to change. You will do the work of creating new habits. It is important that this is important for you and not your spouse, parent or employer. Your coach will ask your permission to be honest with you. It may be hard, but important for you to learn how others see you.

Foster carers play a crucial role in promoting the health and well being of looked after children

Foster carers play a crucial role in promoting the health and well being of looked after children in their care. They are required under Fostering Services Regulations (National Minimum Standards) to give particular attention to the health needs of children in their care and this includes diet. A balanced diet should be the primary aim for carers hoping to boost children’s nutrition. Many local authorities are now running healthy eating schemes and family cooking projects to support foster carers in this task.

Children’s eating habits are currently a constant topic of discussion in the media with parents and carers bombarded with information and advice. It is now commonly accepted that what children eat has a direct effect on brain performance, mood and behaviour. Nutritional deficiencies early in life are associated with hyperactivity, aggression and defiance in older children. Children whose brains have experienced the stress of maltreatment and compromised attachment may be more susceptible to the ill effects of sugar. Studies carried out in juvenile detention centres showed a significant reduction in angry, defiant and violent behaviour when sugared foods were removed from the menu.

A healthy diet is important for all children but particularly for those in foster care because they often come into care in a malnourished state. It is also possible that food may be an issue for them because of the way they have been treated in the past, for example not being fed regularly or having food withdrawn. This can lead to food becoming associated with conflict and stress. Children who have been maltreated early in life feel deprived and their fear of “not getting enough” can be manifested in gorging, hoarding and stealing of food. The food itself becomes the source of comfort rather than the adults providing it.

It is important that foster carers do not make eating a source of conflict but rather try to make food fun. Allowing children an element of choice in what they eat, and encouraging them to help prepare it, will result in them being much more likely to eat it. A way of encouraging children to eat more healthily is by exposing them to lots more varieties of food, avoiding processed convenience foods and snacks that are loaded with fat, salt and sugar.

Eating together is a great way to build up friendships in a family and will help foster children feel welcome and a valid member of the household. Sitting down together for a meal is also a good opportunity to talk about all sorts of things. Children often come into foster care without having the experience of sitting at a table for meals and sometimes do not know how to use knives and forks. Foster carers want children to feel they belong but at the same time do not want them to feel they are trying to take the place of their own family. Children are separated from their families and need as many things in their lives that familiar. Food that they are used to eating will provide something that is familiar so it is not just simply a case of stopping them eating certain unhealthy foods. It will be a gradual process of introducing more nutritious food. For example many foster children may have eaten only frozen convenience foods in the past and are not used to eating fresh vegetables. Rather than criticise what they have eaten in the past, it is better to try and change their eating habits very subtly, without forcing it on them.

The benefits of good nutrition for looked after children are wide ranging including the control of obesity, behavioural problems, developmental conditions such as ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia and autism and even mental health problems. Research by Oxford University has shown that the performance of under-achieving children with physical co-ordination problems improved dramatically when their diets were supplemented by fish oils. The data revealed a significant improvement in reading, spelling, concentration and behaviour.

It is well established that good nutrition is essential for health and well being of children. Many children in foster care have significantly increased health needs compared with their peers that may affect their education and well-being for the rest of their lives. Foster carers can make a big difference to the outcomes for looked after children by improving their health whilst at the same time using food and mealtimes to build and sustain relationships with children and young people.

how many things can be wrong with my head?

I have been diagnosed for kleptomania, OCD, BPD, ADHD, and pathological hoarding and meet the symptoms for early stages of anorexia nervosa, and meet symptoms for depression and paranoid personality disorder. Is there anything that CAN’T go wrong with me???

I have been diagnosed and living with, social anxiety disorder (social phobia). Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Generalized Anxiety Disorder, GAD, Borderline personality disorder (BPD), Major Depressive Disorder (Major Depression), 2 pathological sleep disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, OCD, etc.Etc………..

I don’t see how a therapist can help us with all these illnesses, at least from my experience…UNLESS, the therapist is there to help us with self-acceptance and validation. Once one can accept self, then the forces are not so relentless…it brings a feeling of…I am okay…. I am a unique individual and it is okay to be me. If you can accept that, then life becomes more rewarding, and that inner sufferer becomes loved. Each needs their own time. One should not starve the other, or put guilt on the other… We are what we are.

Take care always.

….”key” behaviors which made you or your pediatrician suspect ADD. I want what is and what isn’t on the typical ADD checklist. No questions of why, just please tell me the “key” behaviors.

First, start with the age of the child, a lot of the symptoms overlap with development stages and poor parenting techniques. For add/adhd you cant even come close to an accurate diagnoses until the child is at least 5, but some do it anyways,

Adhd New Medication: is it Really Better?

It’s unbelievable how many medications there are out there for the treatment of ADHD. Most ADHD medication has a bad rap because it is associated with risky side effects. Many parents wonder if ADHD new medication is better. In order to decide what treatment option is best for your child, it’s important to understand the pros and cons of ADHD medications, both new and old.

The best medication for ADHD is not going to be the same for everyone since each child reacts differently to each drug. Stimulants are the most common type of medication to treat ADHD. The older stimulants were of the short-acting variety and had to be taken a few times a day in order to remain effective throughout the course of the day. The new versions of stimulants are sustained-release drugs. The obvious perk is that your child doesn’t have to take any pills at school and the effects will last all day.

The latest ADHD new medication to come out is Vyavanse. It is a long-acting stimulant similar to Adderall. The only difference it has with the older stimulants is the fact that its effects last for a longer period of time. As for side effects, it is equally as dangerous as stimulants like Ritalin and Adderall. Some side effects associated with taking Vyavanse include diarrhea, shortness of breath, hallucinations, and heart palpitations.

Some parents searching for the best medication for ADHD may consider non-stimulants in order to avoid the harsh side effects that stimulants can have on their child. Non-stimulants that are approved for the treatment of ADHD include Strattera and Wellbutrin. These medications are helpful for children who suffer from anxiety and depression in addition to ADHD but they do not treat all of the symptoms of ADHD so their effectiveness is limited. Furthermore, they also have dangerous side effects.

While you may feel eager to get rid of your child’s ADHD quickly, remember that most ADHD new medication that comes out is really no better than the last. If you want to help your child achieve permanent recovery and not just suppress the symptoms of the illness, you need to treat the problem holistically.

The best medication for ADHD simply doesn’t exist because every child is different. Instead of searching aimlessly for the best medication out there, help your child live a healthier lifestyle. Make sure he gets enough sleep and exercise and feed him a healthy diet. Give him a homeopathic remedy every day to alleviate the symptoms of ADHD without any risk of side effects. If you follow these simple steps, you will see a huge improvement in your child’s behavior and realize that it isn’t always necessary to resort to drugs.

Now that you are armed with this information, weigh your options carefully. Don’t let anyone, even your doctor force you into the decision to give your child drugs. Giving your child drugs can have serious consequences so it’s important to look at the pros and cons of the situation. Many parents see a lot of success with homeopathy and lifestyle change. Why not give it a shot? You have nothing to lose and you may save your child a lot of unnecessary suffering.

adhd forms

Introduction To ADHD – Facts That Everybody Must Know

ADHD has many forms and numerous slightly differing manifestations. There are already more than five recorded and documented forms of ADHD.

And although sometimes questioned, it is widely acknowledged that this is a medical condition which is carried through the genes, and therefore often manifests itself as certain disorders of the nervous system (of which there are many).

The DSM-IV Manual of Diagnosis reports that any type, form or kind of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder should be grouped under the category of ADHD. This main central list is subsequently broken into ADHD types;

– ADHD Combined Type
– Impulsive-Hyperactive Type or
– ADHD Inattentive Type

Some time ago, the phrases attention deficit disorder “with” or “without” hyperactivity were also coigned and widely used. There can be many combinations so that different sufferers will show different symptoms.

Generally Attention Deficit Hyperactivity affects numerous sections of the brain, often more than four unique parts of the brain. Because of this, it results in many unique “profiles” and “styles” of young people, so having a ‘standard set of behavior and monitoring against that for any child and possibly even adults with ADHD or ADD doesn’t always work.

There are four main spheres:

1) Inability to attend
2) Difficulties with Impulse Control
3) Problems associated with motor restlessness and/or hyperactivity
4) An increased propensity to become bored – A condition yet to be “officially” declared in manuals of diagnosis

Here are a few more important elements of this condition:

a. When you know what to look for, this disorder and its effects are observable and can be monitored in most circumstances, but this should be done both at school and at home. If a child shows symptoms only in one place then possibly there is a reason for this which should be investigated.

b. often, the disorder becomes more noticeable before the child reaches seven years of age. Since ADHD is caused at least in part by neurological problems, it may be from a head injury or may have been carried in the genetics itself.

If ADHD is going to occur normally it will be apparent by the age of seven.

Bible Verses That Relate to ADHD?

I have to write a health paper on ADHD. I’m supposed to include 2-3 verses from scripture that relate or apply to it. This is very general but I can’t really think of anything. So, what are some verses from the Bible that relate to ADHD in any way, shape or form?

Proverbs 23:13
“Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.”

Adhd Focus Formula

adhd focus formula

Healing Attention Deficit Disorder Naturally Without Ritalin and Dangerous Drugs

In the US more than 5 million children are treated every year with brain disabling narcotics for this mental disorder. Ritalin is the drug most often used but the problem is that it can stunt grwoth, brain atrophy, decrease muscle control, loss of welf regard and/or depression. Dr Fred Baughman, a leading critic and expert of this drug states that rht FDA reported 2,993 adverse reactions to Ritalin in 1990 alone. Of these, 160 were deaths and 567 had to be hospitalized. It also can cause hypertension and rapid heartbeat. Then if the drug is taken from the child they often feel lost or depressed. So the prescription is often worse than the problem!

A growing amount of experts beleive that ADHD and ADD was “made up” by the mental health communtiy and that these symptoms are really creative minds, gifted inventors, scientists and artists of the future therefore many gifted children are being drugged and  and detroyed.
The symptoms of these so called illnesses should be treated as a nutrional issue. Food allergies often trigger hyperactiveness. Eliminate red dye foods and drinks completely. The other most common triggers are milk, eggs, peanuts, wheat, chocolate, oranges and sugar.NEVER used substitute sugar! Unless it is stevia or Xlylitol, these are the only safe ones.PROTEIN is good!!
Also environmental toxins can be a factor such as, pesticides and cleaning products.
Another cause could be heavy metal poisoning from mercury or lead. These metal can be introduced into the body through vaccinations and other pollutants. Mercury or silver fillings in the teeth for example.
Look at your childs pupils, if they are enlarged then this signals an excess of sympathetic nervous system  activity so you need calming herbs and vitamins/minerals. STRESS J is a good stress supplement.  Lavendar Oil is also very good for them to smell or rub on the wrists and bottom of feet.
Children that have deficient vitamin Bs have behavioral problems such as mood swings,  temper tantrums, depression, anger, fear, withdrawal and inability to concentrate.
So B COMPLEX is extrememly important to supplement with.
If the pupils are small and contracted then there is an excess of parasymphatetic nervous system activity so stimulants will have a calming effect.

MAGNESIUM is another nutrient that is almost always deficient in children with behavioral problems. It is a nerve tonic and  muscle relaxant. Necessary for brain function and it is used up fast during stress. Important to every cell in the body!

Natures Sunshine has an alternative to Ritalin and other dangerous medications. This formula is 100% natural and safe for your child.
FOCUS ATTENTION
This formula helps to reduce overactivity in the brains neurotransmitter system and provides nutrients much needed. Also protects the brain from toxic chemicals. Supports blood circulation and neurotransitter levels in the brain.Encourages restful and balanced brain activity. It is best to take with Flaxseed oil or omega 3 needed for essential brain function.  Comes in capsule or powder to mix in juice or water.

Hi, I am a natures sunshine manager and herb specialist. I love to help people and that is why I got into natural healing 21 yrs ago. I started with just myself, family members and friends and with much success I want to share my knowledge and reach more people,

does any one know if nautral medicine for adhd works?

i have 8 year old son which diagnoised with adhd borderline.i was wondering if any one tried natural remidy focus formula for that.i am looking for any remedy that work so i donot have to give meicine.

with my son I cut out all stimulants from his diet. No caffeine (soda) no sugar, etc. I also cut out all artificial ingredients like preservatives, artificial flavors, dyes, etc…. it made a big difference and for years he was able to function well enough without meds. When he entered middle school we decided to go the medication route because having 6 teachers and classes to deal with was more than he could handle. Adderall was really wonderful and I was a bit upset at myself that I had resisted it for so long. It did not change his personality, did not make him a zombie…. only let him concentrate, focus, and remember. He’s 19 now and still uses adderall during classes (at college). On days that he doesn’t take his adderall he gets nothing done unless I bug him and bug him and bug him….. On days that he does take his adderall I come home and his chores are done, his school work is done it’s almost like a “responsibility” pill. without it he wold not have done as well as he has. Even with the special diet and all the extra work we put into organizing etc….. he still got mostly c’s… Enter adderall and he went immediately to straight A’s and was moved to all advanced classes….. Give the meds a chance. I understand your concerns.. I resisted it for 6 years…. but in the end the right thing to do was to enable my son to achieve as much as he could….. not having the meds really held him back.

Why a Diet for Adhd Kids Can Make a Difference

Did you know that restriction of certain foods for ADHD kids can make a huge difference? Dietary control is one of the major components of alternative treatment for ADHD because it will help in reducing the symptoms.

A diet for ADHD kids is really just feeding your kids nutritious, balanced foods instead of junk food. Junk food is a major player in the role of ADHD.

Here are some dietary restrictions that are essential:

Sugar: A decrease in the amount of sugar will decrease ADHD symptoms, such as hyperactivity. A high intake of sugar (which every kid loves!) will cause the blood sugar levels in the body to fluctuate. That’s not good because this can leave your kid (or anyone for that matter) feeling irritable and moody. It actually sounds like my PMS week! In addition to these symptoms, foods for ADHD kids with high sugar content can lead to aggressive behavior and sudden hyperactive behavior. A high-sugar diet for ADHD kids will only make matters worse.

Refined Carbs: In order to reduce this, you should eliminate white bread, white sugar, all processed foods (especially junk food) from a diet for ADHD kids. Refined carbs will cause the blood sugar levels in the body to fluctuate, and we already know what that does. It worsens ADHD symptoms. Switch to wheat bread and organic or natural sugar. Now this is a tough one for parents. Get your kid to eat more fruits a veggies. They contain complex carbohydrates that will keep blood sugar levels in the body from fluctuating.

Processed foods: Studies have shown that certain processed foods that contain preservatives, additives (MSG), artificial coloring, artificial flavoring and artificial sweeteners can and will cause ADHD symptoms to worsen. Keep them out of your home and don’t go thru the fast food drive-thru (at least not with your ADHD child in the car). Switch natural and organic foods with no preservatives or artificial anything. Some foods for ADHD kids can lead to allergies. These include dairy products and orange juice among others. Eliminating these foods from their diet will also reduce ADHD symptoms.

Natural medicine: One of the best natural supplements you can include in a diet for ADHD kids is an Omega-3. You can find this in fish oil and thank goodness you can also find it in pill form. I doubt if your child would want to take a spoonful of cod liver oil willingly. Studies have shown that this remarkable supplement will improve brain function and decrease hyperactivity. The essential fatty acid can also be found in flax seed oil. Vitamin B-6 is another supplement to use for similar results.

A restricted diet for ADHD kids will definitely help in reducing symptoms but, if you want to take total control of the symptoms, you must combine a diet with behavioral therapy, herbal and homeopathic remedies. The combination of the different alternative therapies will be much safer and just as effective as conventional therapies.

You don’t have it. You are like millions of other teenagers around the world and like I was years ago. I liked physics at primary school and was good at it and just one physics teacher at high school made me sleep during his classes for 3 years. What people don’t realize is that teachers and textbooks play often a big role too. Not all teachers are perfect teachers, not all text books are perfect and the educational system is far from being perfect too.

Though, this booklet may help you.

“Consider this for a moment: In all your schooling, did anyone ever teach you how to study something?

Today, people are graduating school unable to read or write at a level adequate to hold a job or deal with life. It is a huge problem. It is not that subjects cannot be learned; what isn’t taught is how to learn. It is the missing step in all education.”
