difference between company and corporation?

what is the differnence between company and corporation?? thanksthanks

A corporation is one of three basic ways to organize a company. A proprietorship means you own the company yourself, and you ARE the company–its debts are also your personal debts. A partnership is similar, except that profits and debts are shared among several individuals according to a written agreement. Debts are also personal, and partners must agree on decisions. A corporation is a synthetic entity–it is treated like a person, though it isn’t human. Stockholders vote on decisions, or often thee is a board of directors. The President of CEO implements those decisions and has latitude on HOW to do it–the Board usualyy elects him. In large corporations there are often Financial (CFO) and Operations (COO) officers for other functions. The responsibility for debts rests with the stockholders; no one person or group of partners is personally responsible for them. My company is a Limited Corporation–I hold all the voting stock, since I am the only investor, but bankruptcy cannot touch my personal assets. I and my appointed officers receive salaries and benefits (not much, yet), and I am President and CFO and COO all wrapped in one. Sometimes you see, instead of “Inc.,” the letters “L.L.C” for such a business. Professionals such as doctors and lawyers protect their assets with a “P.C.”–a Personal Corporation. Aha! so that’s what that alphabet soup all means. In the English system, “Inc.” is usually rendered as “Ltd.” There are also nonprofit corporations–my lady has one to treat ADHD and autistic kids. They get special tax breaks and protections of assets because of their nonprofit status. Many hospitals use such a designation, too.

Am i Bi polar or just having a bad run?

im 23 yr old male. experianced my first episode of major depression
while studying abroad. the stress of moving obvioulsy triggered it.
i cam home 2 months later went onto anti depressants was better the 7 months later another depression came abt got better 11 months later another episode. bak on A.Ds got better now all im on is ritalin and it seems to be working well. thoughts have slowed down. so thats 3 episodes. do i just battkle with depression and my tghinkin or am i bi polar??dont think iv experianced mania i mean obv i am alot happier and grteful when not depreseed but no 1 can notic or has ever said anythng abt me being overly happy

As has been said, only a trained professional such as a psychiatrist can say for sure if you have bipolar or not.

It may be worth checking with a psychiatrist because racing thoughts are a symptom of bipolar. On the other hand, if you have ADHD, it may simply be that. (I’m assuming that’s why you’re taking the Ritalin) If you are entirely happy with the speed of your thinking then I personally wouldn’t worry about whether I might be bipolar. But I found that the only thing that truly worked to sort out my racing thoughts was a mood stabilizer. And that worked like a dream – one day there, next day gone and they very rarely reappear. If the medication works though, for me it doesn’t matter what my disorder happens to be labelled.

As far as the depression goes, it seems that you have a tendency to depression. There are lots of forms of mood disorder and you don’t have to have bipolar to have one. There are other ways of treating depression besides medication and it would definitely be worth your while to explore them. Of course you should take medication as well, whenever a period of clinical depression sets in, but learning to follow lifestyle tips for overcoming depression and learning Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques for managing a mood disorder can all help you to either prevent the onset of depression or counteract it and get treatment promptly so it doesn’t have a chance to get really enbedded.

For tips on self care for depression see There are many free online courses for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy such as the one at If that one doesn’t suit your needs just search for another. Eventually you’ll get a toolkit together to manage your condition and that will make it feel a lot less like you’re constantly battling depression and racing thoughts.

How accurate are IQ tests for people with ADHD?

My very first IQ test, I scored a 130. I was about 8 years old so I don’t vividly remember all of the details. All I can remember was zoning out on the shapes and math problems. For lack of a better term, it felt like there was a “translation barrier” in my head that wasn’t allowing my mind to process these things fully. My score was so high because my verbal IQ was in the top 2% of the population. I also used my fingers for the math part because I had never attempted mental math because of all of my “laziness”, if that makes sense. After training myself to do mental math, my second test came out as a 151. A 21 point difference all because of one tweak made me question if the test was biased towards people with “inattentive ADHD”.

All IQ tests are different. If you want consistent results, do one of the widely recognised ones, like cattel-b or culture fair.

ADHD makes absolutely no difference to IQ. If you didn’t actually do the test properly (if you were able to use your fingers it wasn’t a very good test anyway) then yes, you’re going to score higher.

Is it dangerous to take both Trileptal and amphetmines?

Trileptal is a mood stabilizer and amphetamines are used to treat ADHD. I plan on asking my psychiatrist but for a faster response, do you know if it is dangerous to take both of them together daily? I know Trileptal is bad when mixed with antidepressants, alcohol, etc but I can’t find any information on it with amphetmines. Thanks!

Trileptal is a mild anticonvulsant and has an off label use in treating bipolar mania. While it’s prescribed as a mood stabilizer, it’s a very old drug and is less prevelant than Depakote, Lamictal and Topomax.

There are no negative interactions between trileptal and antidepressants, as they are commonly prescribed together to treat bipolar depression.

There are no negative drug interactions between Trileptal and amphetamine.

Unless you are eplieptic; you will not feel anything from taking trileptal. If you are bipolar, you may or may not feel something from trileptal.

You think I have ADD / ADHD?

I cannot concentrate on something special at school, I just want to space out and start thinking about random things about life. Also, I used to play football, and whenever the coach explained that I would not know how to practice and I did not pay attention, and even when I watch TV I can not pay attention to it. I then go to the doctor and I tested my mother had to fill out the form with a bunch of questions, and teacher of all I have to do the same. The thing is, I think your mom is not real, and their mental and She gets all her conclusions, as if "you will get good grades in your school, then just slide it out. !!!!" And she does not want me using drugs because she said it would make me. To be able to play the guitar and other drugs.i I taught myself to them. shes always like to add you if you have not been able to do that. What's your opinion?

I have increased the severity and my parents always told me that I should just suck it up and deal with it. "More attention and you will. OK ", but I will try really hard. but I still can not really affected my life and I wish my parents had gotten me to the doctor when I really needed it. When I was later treated as an adult, and it really helped a lot and explains. Many of the problems I have. I do not know if you have been added. You should explain to your mother that this is really serious and you should see a doctor just to be. Be safe, I think it is misleading to say that the increase will lead to other drugs. I will not do any other drugs. Ritalin, and even then I do not get caught. Ritalin, my doctor, I always try to get me to take more time. Go to the doctor and get treatment before you really need to find out more.

Adhd Checklist

adhd checklist

Anyone out there with ADD/ADHD? Can you help me please?

I’m 22 and for the past 4 years I’ve had this strong feeling that I have attention deficit disorder. I have practically every single symptom on all the checklists and this has been going on all my life for as long as I can remember.

I spoke to an organisation called DORE who said that I sound very much like someone with ADD. However, they charge over £2,000 for their treatment, so I felt a little sceptical and wondered if they just wanted my money!

I’m reluctant to see my doctor in case he thinks I am just a typical lazy student making excuses, or in case I appear to be a hypochondriac!

Can anyone give me advice about what I should do please?

xx Emmie
P.S. I’m in the UK
Sorry, I should have said – I’ve had the symptoms all my life – but it’s only in the last 4 years since I’ve been at Uni that I found out about ADD. I knew nothing about it before, but the symptoms were definitely there! Lol!

There is a lot of controversy about ADD ADHD and the medications.

The doctors never diagnose it, except with information from the parents and relatives of the child usually.

What they call ADD ADHD, I call normal, and other people have a stupidity disorder.

For example, my son can sit and read for hours, a book that he wants to read, but a textbook is really difficult because of ADHD. Is that a disease or a boring book?

My son can play video games for hours on end, and write down and memorize all the codes he needs to win, but listen to a lecture at school, and take notes, no way! Is that a disease or a boring lecturer?

My son won’t take the medication because he says it makes him feel stupid.

Whatever your solution is, good luck to you.

Can people who have learning disabilities still have good jobs?

What exactly is being special ed? Can people tell? I know that some people who are but you cannot tell why is that? Please be honest and explain no rude comments. Thanks!

I see the TD fairy has visited, Catlin is right, at she tried to answer the question

My daughter and I both have a learning disorder, we have dyslexia and ADHD (not that I admit the ADHD often).

My daughter & I are both qualified Disability support workers, and Allied Health assistant (I just have to do my work placement) I am also a qualified Youth worker, and I have been teaching for the past five years. My employers are aware of the Dyslexia, and I am fairly certain they know I have ADHD, because of my strict routine, odd way of doing things (not odd to me, its how I mange to get things done & keep things in order) and I have been told a few times I am pedantic in how I do things.

A close family friend who is a trades teacher has dyslexia, another teacher I know has dyslexia too, but he is also an well known Aussie author and motivational speaker.

Walt Disney, Alexander Graham Bell, and Winston Churchill all had learning disabilities.

If a LD is picked up early enough and the correct supports & strategies put into place, and have great support from family and friends, then many students with LD can achieve a great education and get good jobs.

Edit; forgot to add What is special ed?
Special education is for students with a disability that can impact on their ability to learn, and the curriculum has been adapted to help support and teach people with disabilities, to get an education. By following the goals or aims set out in the IEP or 504 plan.

How can I stop procrastinating?

I have the exact same problem (plus more!). Last year, I was diagnosed with ADHD, so…that seems to answer the question “WHY?” (why I’m distracted). But I still don’t know HOW I can stop this (..from getting distracted)!

Now, I’m starting my own “daily planner”…in hopes that maybe that will help me stay in track. And of course, I’ll have to force myself from saying “a little later”. =)

i think i have ADHD can someone please help me?

Hi there i’ve just realized that i might have AD HD i often get bad grades at school. one of the teachers recommended that i go to see a doctor. i also took an online test and it says i suffer from it a bit… i would just like some confirmation can someone recommend a type of doctor to go to?

^ugh, another one of those “adhd doesn’t exist” people. My brother has severe adhd, it was actually causing him to get into accidents every single week and the school playground (chipped teeth, bruises, and he even broke his ankle) because he was so hyperactive, plus didn’t pay attention to anything..but it’s not like lecturing him on paying attention would have helped him any (because I think the answer above is basically a preachy lecture) but meds definitely did. He’s on concerta now (extended release form of ritalin) and his grades went from fail fail fail in elementary school to straight A’s in high school.

but be wary of using meds as a quick fix, a lot of people who are on them and don’t need them. They are one tool to work with…other things you can do is get audio tape versions of your text books (a lot of people with adhd have much more success concentrating with listening taped versions instead of trying to read text books) or take a class on study skills, get stress ball or silly putty to bring to class so you have something to do with your hands (believe it or not, having silly putty actually helps me concentrate)

and yes go to a doctor. ADHD means that your brain has difficulty with “executive functioning” which means that you struggle with organizing information, including stimuli you see, touch hear and’s kinda like having a huge corporation that has workers in every department but no CEO to lead and organize everyone.

Tips On Finding The Best Adhd Supplements

The estimate is that around 5% of all school-aged children have ADHD and the condition is on the increase; although this may partly be due to a better understanding of the disorder and the diagnostic guidelines being clearer. There is currently no cure for ADHD and many people rely on stimulant medications to alter behavior. However, these meds can come with undesirable side effects, which leads people to look at other alternatives. However, investing your money in alternative treatments and supplements can be quite risky. Here are some tips to help you find the best ADHD supplements:

1) Consult your doctor – Before buying any sort of ADHD supplement, you should definitely speak with your doctor to check if those supplements will not have any adverse reactions to any medications currently prescribed. By doing this, you will be able to make sure that the supplements you buy are completely safe. Choosing the best supplement involves studying whether or not they will have an adverse reaction to other medications. You may find they have some suggestions on where to purchase supplements from and which ones to avoid.

Another reason for consulting with your doctor is to arrange to have your blood tested for any vitamin or mineral deficiencies. There are arguments that suggest ADHD behaviors may be helped by removing any deficiencies. This way you’ll know what supplements to buy.

Continue reading for more tips on finding the best supplements for ADHD and to sign up for the free recognizing and treating ADHD newsletter below.

2) Read reviews – You will often see various companies claiming to have the best supplement in the market for ADHD. However, you should realize the fact that companies need to market their product. Instead of checking out the company’s site to see if you are in fact getting a great product, you should check out what other people have to say. Doing a search online will usually show you pretty quickly what people think of various supplements. This will help you determine whether you really are buying an ADHD supplement that will make a difference or if you are falling victim to a company’s marketing approach.

3) More is not necessarily better – A lot of different ADHD supplements available in the market today claim to have different substances which help relieve the symptoms of ADHD. However choosing the best ADHD supplement is not the same as choosing the ADHD supplement with the most ingredients. Choosing the best ADHD supplement means choosing the ADHD supplement which is most effective in relieving symptoms. Generally, you’ll find the same sort of ingredients in most ADHD supplements, only in varying quantities.

4) Try it out before you buy in bulk – Of course, finding the best ADHD supplements requires you to try them out. Order or buy a small bottle first and follow the instructions carefully. Make a note of any changes in behavior. This will help you determine if the effects of the ADHD supplements meet the company’s claims. If you notice improvement try to buy in bulk at a discount, if not you won’t have wasted a lot of money.

Does anyone have ADHD tips?

I’m ADHD and allergic to meds, does anyone have any good tips for concentrating?

ADHD: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
A person lacks attention for things which he has no interest in.
My son was diagnosed with this, but I did not allow them to give him drugs. He would not pay attention to his teachers in class, yet he could play Warcraft on the computer for 6 hours straight. No attention deficit there! He didn’t learn how to read & write until he discovered comic books at the age of 9. Now he reads quite well. If you have trouble paying attention to something, find ways of learning it in something that holds your interest. For more information on ADHD go to

adhd information booklet

I’m worried that I have ADHD?

I’m a 16 year old male, I’m in high school, i’m really worried that i have ADHD,and i really want to do good on my tests,
I always lose track of what the teacher is explaining and i have hard time concentrating for a long period of time (probably for 2 to 3 minutes), and sometimes i forget what i’ve just been told.

You don’t have it. Students have problems you have described.

Watch few minutes video with Dr. Mary Ann Block to find answers you are looking for.

No More ADHD

Dr. Mary Ann Block
“Because of my medical training, my goal as a physician is to look for and treat the underlying conditions causing the patient’s problem, rather than just covering up those symptoms with drugs. I have seen and treated thousands of children from all over the United States, who had previously been labeled ADHD and treated with amphetamine drugs. By taking a thorough history and giving these children a complete physical exam as well as doing lab tests and allergy testing, I have consistently found that these children do not have ADHD, but instead have allergies, dietary problems, nutritional deficiencies, thyroid problems and learning difficulties that are causing their symptoms. All of these medical and educational problems can be treated, allowing the child to be successful in school and life, without being drugged.”

I would recommend you reading following booklet for parents

and following less than 2 minutes video about psychiatry diagnosis like ADHD/ADD

You can find facts about Ritalin in this booklet which is available on-line.
It is the fifth booklet from left…

“Even when Ritalin is used as prescription drug, it may have severe side effects including nervousness, insomnia, anorexia (eating disorder), pulse changes, heart problems and weight loss. The manufacturer says it is a drug of dependency.
In June 2005, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a series of public health advisories warning that Ritalin and drugs like it may cause visual hallucinations, suicidal thoughts, psychotic behavior, as well aggression and violence behavior.”

Can people with ADD/ADHD join the military if they get therapy?

I know you can’t if you are on medicine, but what if you get therapy or a life coach. Can you join the military?

I am thinking I want to join to defend America, but I can’t because I take medication for ADHD and General Anxiety Disorder. So if I get off the medicine and get a life coach or something could I join?
Thomas SR: Just because I have a disability doesn’t mean I am unbalanced. I may have a disorder that can affect my learning and processing but I am just like every one else I just think differently.

I am not mentally ill.

You would get better answers in Military. You could probably also google this. Or call a recruiter.

These rules aren’t there to hurt you, they are there to protect you, as well as not place you in situations where you could hurt others.

I applaud your desire to support our nation. There are many ways to do this outside the military.

adhd management

I have an ADHD, aggressive, manipulative, immature employee?

When he’s good; he’s REAL good. But when he’s bad…!
He challenges everything I ask; he gossips; he plays manager against manager; he shows favoritism. He’s good at head games, & sides with female management to pit them against male management. My female manager does not witness the discrepancy.
Any ideas, short of firing him?
Anything I share with him, he turns into a game & tries using it against management.

Find something that uses him up doing his own management. If he’s good enough to keep , a turnaround on a non-productive section or managing a really difficult project might make those qualities you mentioned intraprenurial assets instead of drawbacks. Of course, if he can’t hack, it gives him the opportunity to pee off enough people that nobody will mind if you fire him.

The Use Of Vitamins For Treating ADHD

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder known as ADHD has enabled scientists and doctors for a detailed study and discovery of medicines that has proved to be 80-90% successful cure of ADHD. There are various medications that are given to an ADHD patient. The patient may require allopathic or naturopathic methods to reduce this disorder.

That’s not all. Depending on the individual, different methods and medicines are prescribed by health care specialists in order to take care of this disorder. You need natural supplements that stimulate certain hormonal activities that can reduce the stress levels, depression, increase memory and promote the growth to pay attention.

Vitamins to boost your child
There can be many deficiencies in your child that can lead to slow down your child’s progress. These deficiencies need to be compensated by taking in nutrients that are rich in vitamins and other acids. Children are often lazy to consume good amount of food. In today’s century, it’s a world of fast food. That does not supply enough energy levels to your child. You need to give your child a proper vitamin that best suits him prescribed by your doctor to avoid him suffering from ADHD.

What are ADHD vitamins?
These are natural supplements and vitamins that can increase functioning of memory, reduce stress level and promote the performance of an individual. Depending on the sickness, your health care specialist prescribes certain vitamin tablets or supplements that will help you cure ADHD. Excess stress harms many other activities and functioning of our organs which can be a cause of ADHD due to lack of energy. To maintain certain nutrient levels in our body, it is essential to take these vitamin rich supplements that can reduce the risk of ADHD.

Types of vitamins for ADHD patients:
There is a list of vitamins that are prescribed by your doctor. You get B vitamins in different combinations and strength. For example: vitamin B12, folic acid and vitamin B12. You get different milligrams available like 500mg, 250 mg, etc.

Your doctor will prescribe the correct vitamin that will compensate the needed vitamin to control ADHD level. Also deficient levels of vitamin B6 have been found in a lot of ADHD patients. Vitamin B6 combined with other minerals can supply necessary nutrients to cure ADHD. This is not recommended to take on your own. Your doctor will diagnose the ADHD factor and accordingly suggest a suitable vitamin for you.

Fighting Adhd – Lots Of Treatment Options To Help Your Child

There are now several ways of fighting ADHD. The only problem is that not everybody is in agreement about them! This is particularly true about fringe treatments such as equine therapy, biofeedback, meditation, yoga and dietary supplements.

As regards mainstream treatments in curing ADHD, there is more or less general agreement. In recent years, more and more paediatricians are now recommending some sort of behavior therapy combined with some sort of medication as the best way forward. That is great progress.

Just a few years ago, the most popular way of fighting ADHD was to just use medication with psychostimulants alone and this has been very controversial. At least nowadays, it is regarded as just one tool in the treatment of ADHD and that is definitely a step in the right direction.

There is also some other good news on fighting ADHD on the diagnostic front although we will have to wait another few years for the DSM Manual, V edition to be published. That should offer new guidelines and they may just split the condition into two sub types such as AD, attention deficit and HD, hyperactivity disorder.

Latest research is also pointing to the fact that the initial age of diagnosis should be raised to 7, as lots of children start displaying ADHD symptoms around then. Certainly, three or four year olds are too young to be labelled with such a challenge at such a tender age.

Why? First because the effects of these amphetamine drugs on young child’s brain is extremely controversial and there are concerns voiced by the FDA, the CDC and other medical authorities.

It is no accident that these drugs are still classed as Class II drugs with all the risks of addiction that could bring. In addition there are health risks as outlined on the FDA site. Last but not least, there are worries about the long term effects which has never been really addressed in fighting ADHD.

Fortunately, thanks to the Internet, parents are becoming much more savvy and are beginning to be more aware of the problems and challenges faced by their ADHD children.

Certainly homeopathic remedies for ADHD have gained enormous respect compared to about twenty years ago. This is because they have been shown in many trials to be equally as effective as the ADHD conventional psychostimulants. The fact that homeopathy treats the whole person and stimulates a balance between the mind and body, helps ADHD children to calm down, reduce hyperactivity and increase concentration span.

Now that you know there are many different ways of curing ADHD, why not click through and discover more about a very gentle treatment which is also extremely effective.

Is ADHD Being Over Diagnosed?

Many people are starting to question the rise in diagnosed cases of ADHD in this country. Some people question if the condition actually exists. The United States is one of the only countries that think this is even a problem. In many other nations it is considered normal childhood behavior and is first treated by natural means and not the drugs that we use to address the problem. Of all the Ritalin used in the world the U.S. is responsible for consuming 90% of it while we account for only 5% of the world’s population.

For people that do have ADHD proper diagnosis and treatment can have profound effects on their lives. They do better in school, at work and get along better with their peers. These drugs have been shown to help these people. The problem is that these drugs have the same type of affect on people that do not have ADHD. Diagnosis is sometimes a blurry area. There is no biological test that tells us if a person has it or not. It is more objective than scientific. If a person becomes well versed in the symptoms they can fake it. The positive affects of these treatments can only be obtained by a diagnosis of ADHD and a prescription for these drugs.

Many times parents and teachers do not feel like dealing with a child that is out of control. Diagnosis and treatment is a quick fix to change any negative behavior. A positive diagnosis is seen as an aid to general parenting. It solves the problem of an unruly child. The problem is that treatment usually takes one form and that is to medicate them.

It is much easier when a problem child just stops being a problem. This solves the problem for parents that do not have the time to parent and teachers that feel they do not have the time to teach. What it does not do is address the underlying problem that the child has.

The problem is not the manufacturers of these medications it is the people that use them as the only or primary way to treat ADHD. Even in children that are not a problem it has become all too easy to call them a problem and subject them with unneeded treatments.

Abuse of ADHD medications

These drugs have become noticed by students, professional athletes and teenagers. They are looked at by these people as performance enhancers. They can provide several hours of intense focus that can help get a student through the next test or assist an athlete with their performance in an important upcoming event. This may be something that is too hard to resist for some.

Use as a recreational drug

Many teenagers are buying them from their friends to get high. They consume these in large amounts and may be setting themselves up for some serious consequences. These drugs have side effects such as suicidal tendencies, insomnia, stunted growth and liver and heart damage. Because they are taking many times the recommended dosages these side effects can be magnified.

Adults that are looking for an advantage in the workplace

If you have adult ADHD a correct diagnosis and treatment can assist in better performance and a better life. The problem is that diagnosis in adults is very difficult. It requires one to look back on their childhood for information which will assist in the diagnosis. An adult with knowledge of the symptoms may be able to answer questions in a way to obtain the desired diagnosis. The business aspect

An entire industry has been spawned by the increase in ADHD diagnosis. Some of these are legitimate and bring value to people lives while others are only designed to benefit the business owner.

We have coaches and councilors, programs for parents, software, websites and books. All of these companies depend on treating people that have been positively diagnosed and may contribute to the over diagnosis.

It is the job of these companies to keep the topic of ADHD in people’s minds through news media and advertising. They do this under the pretense of educating people when in fact there is little education behind the sales pitch. You should not confuse this with objective education.

People need to understand that this is business and not to believe everything they hear.

In conclusion, if you feel that your life is negatively affected by ADHD by all means get tested. But remember that medication is not the answer to everything. Look at diet, exercise and natural remedies. In other words educate yourself to your options.

Adhd and being taken seriously by people?

Well im 17, a girl. i have adhd. im not hyperactive the only effect i have is that i sometimes cant pay attention in class. I understand the material ushually. English used to be my worst subject since i would read a book and forget everything i just read. I am in the higher stream of english and currently have a 92% average. Im also a figure skating coach and soccer coach. If parents find out i have adhd will they not trust me as much or not think im suitable enough? How do i get taken seriously?

How is it that your parents don’t know that you have this condition? ADHD is a medical condition and the only way to know that you have it is to be diagnosed by a medical professional.

If you really do suffer from ADHD then you will have struggled with concentration and learning your whole life. This is not just a problem that appears in your teen years, your parents would have seen a significant problem with concentration and learning right from your first year of school. It is also not a learning disability but a pervavsive disorder, your parents will have seen your attention deficits at home and in all area’s of your life. If they only exsist in school then you don’t have ADHD.

Finally many people have different problems that affect their attention and learning, in fact everyone does. There is a line that tells the difference between what are learning problems and what is a true disorder. A disorder is not a disorder unless it causes significant life problems. For some who has ADHD without hyperactivity that basically includes failure at school. It sounds like you are doing well.

Secrets of Good Adhd Money Management

Good intentions aren’t enough. ADHD money management systems, on the other hand, can help you prepare now for a better tomorrow. Smart (and ultimately successful) people use systems to increase productivity, improve efficiency and to save their sanity. One of the ADHD side effects I always look for is poor money management.

You have ambitions, a vision for your future and important goals. Your dreams might include owning your own home, buying a revenue property, retiring early or starting your own business. These dreams all demand money, probably more than you have right now.

Of course, you’ll need to make some choices, prioritize your objectives and define exactly what you’re trying to accomplish, but once you do that, you’ll need more than good intentions to make your dreams come true.

Successful adults with ADHD will tell you that the key to success is not relying on your own abilities to get things done. The real secret is using your abilities to set up systems. ADHD systems for money management are particularly powerful. These systems take over the mundane, repetitive tasks you are unable to do (and that would be a waste of your intelligence, creativity and energy.)

The most common money management and retirement planning solutions used by adults with ADHD include:

  • doing nothing (spending every penny you make just to get by and not putting any money away for a rainy day falls into this category), hoping you’ll either win the lottery or be able to move in with your kids when you retire.
  • using credit cards, “easy” payment plans and debt consolidation to keep digging a deeper hole you plan to “magically” get out of when you finally strike it rich.
  • relying on someone else (your spouse is usually stuck with this task, although if you’re single, this option is usually replaced by one of the first two.)
  • swearing that this year will be better, you vow to prepare a budget, pay yourself at least 10% of your income first, plan for your taxes by making smart investments, charitable donations and wise business moves (this plan typically lasts until the credit card bills come in and you revert back to one of the previous three options.)

There is no magic solution for having enough money to make your dreams come true. While you are young, working and earning, you must save money for the future. One of the most common symptoms of ADHD in adults is lower earnings and poor financial “health.” That’s because promises, intentions and hopes won’t cut it. ADHD money management systems, however, can enable you to have a very successful financial future.

In fact, do it right and this is one of those occasions where ADHD works to your advantage. Every personal finance guru will tell you to set yourself up for “automatic” success by using systems to save and manage your money. They know systems work much better than relying on discipline or good intentions, and your ADHD habit of relying on systems to handle things you cannot or don’t want to puts you ahead of the game. All you need to do is set those ADHD money management systems properly.

If money management is presenting a special challenge for you, you may want to consider ADHD coaching to ensure you’re working with someone who can help you set up systems that will meet your special ADHD needs.
ADHD Money Management Coaching
programs can help you put the right ADHD money management systems in place while you maintain control over your financial future.

Nutrition and Adhd – a Must Know Guide for Parents

Are Nutrition and ADHD really linked? Is there a proven connection? The answer is yes.

In the UK, the Food Standards Agency has taken action and asked food producers to voluntarily remove the following ‘dirty six’ colourings from their products. They are asking them to phase out :- Tartazine (E102), Quinoline Yellow (E104), Sunset Yellow (E110), Carmoisine (E122), Pomceau 4R (E124) and Allura Red (E129). Members of the European Parliament have also taken action and now food products containing the above colourings must be labelled “may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children.”

If you are living in the UK, you will be glad to know that the following food products have removed the guilty food colourings and have replaced them with alternatives. Some of the popular food products are :-Heinz, Weight Watchers from Heinz, Vimto drinks, Sunkist drinks, Green Bay products, Lea and Perrins. McDonald’s have confirmed that they are now applying the ban on their food products. The big food chains are also complying :- Marks and Spencer, Tesco, Asda and Iceland. Nestle’ who produce Smarties sweets had a job to find a substitute for the blue colour and all the blue Smartes disappeared and became white ! They then found spirulina which is an accepted alternative. The fact that the government has taken action means that there is more than sufficient evidence to support the ADHD and nutrition connection.

Sugar has recently been exonerated in some studies as NOT causing hyperactivity in children.

This is true to a certain extent. It depends on what ELSE the children are eating. If they are gulping down lots of confectionery, fizzy drinks and snacks and no fibre which will absorb all the glucose, then there will be an imbalance resulting in blood sugar levels going up and down. The result is that there will be erratic levels of concentration, activity and focus and behaviour problems will surface.

These are the classic symptoms of ADHD.

Nutrition and ADHD ARE linked as we have seen from the two examples above. What else do we need to be careful about when deciding what our children can or cannot eat? Very often children with ADHD show symptoms such as dry skin, always thirsty and eczema. This means that they are not getting enough of the EFA (essential fatty Acids) which are found in fish. If you cannot serve fish, try an Omega 3 or 6 supplement. A shortage of zinc and magnesium levels have been found in ADHD children so it is wise to add these to supplements unless you are giving your children a very balanced diet.

Now that we have looked at the ADHD and nutrition connection, it is time to look at other treatment options in conjunction with the above. Parents will want to avoid the ADHD psychostimulants which have rather nasty side effects and will place your child in a risky social and medical environment which is really not the ideal solution. Is there a natural cure for ADHD which is not addictive? Can it be used in conjunction with a nutrition and ADHD plan? You may want to ask questions about safety, cost and how and where these products are produced. The link below will give you all the information you need.

The Truth About ADHD and Bedwetting

Have you ever wondered if there was a correlation between ADHD and bedwetting? Even though there seems to be a tendency for ADHD and bedwetting to occur together in the same children, Dr. Joseph Biederman, a pediatric psychopharmacologist from Harvard University says that no definitive link between the two has been found. So then why do the two so often occur together?

One thought says that children with ADHD are often so distracted that they don’t pay attention to the body’s signals to void. There is also a school of thought that says there might be an environmental link or a genetic predisposition that causes both ADHD and bedwetting.

Traditional medicine tends to treat ADHD and bedwetting separately, but alternative therapies tend to be based on the theory that ADHD and bedwetting are often both symptoms of another underlying cause.

Some believe that chemicals in food or food allergies can cause both ADHD type of symptoms and bedwetting. By changing a child’s diet and eliminating the foods to which the child is sensitive, it is often found that ADHD symptoms and bedwetting are often much improved or eliminated altogether. Parents interested in this type of treatment should contact the Feingold Association, which supports a dietary approach developed by the chief of allergy medicine at Kaiser-Permanente Medical Center in San Francisco, California.

Another alternative therapy claims a deep sleep disorder is the primary cause of ADHD-like symptoms and bedwetting in some people. According to Shelly Morris, director of the Enuresis Treatment Center, “The inherited deep sleep disorder that causes bedwetting also causes people to spend most, if not all of their nights in stage 4 of sleep.” “Stage 4 is the deepest stage in the sleep cycle. It is the stage where the whole body slows down and rests. It is when the cells rejuvenate, the pulse slows down and the oxygen levels are low. When one spends the whole night not getting enough oxygen, the symptoms are going to be identical to ADD/ADHD … lack of focus, staring out in space, easily distracted, etc.”

This type of treatment therapy focuses on biofeedback and conditioning to adjust sleep patterns. Successful treatment eliminates bedwetting problems and either eliminates or reduces ADHD symptoms. According to Morris, even children who have both ADHD and the sleep disorder usually see marked improvement in their ADHD symptoms.

Although there are no clear cut answers, there are some things a parent can do to help.

First, find out if there is an underlying issue, such as a bladder infection or stress. Then try eliminating drinks an hour before bedtime. Try waking your child to go to the bathroom before you turn in for the night. While working on the bedwetting issue, you can put a plastic liner underneath the child’s bedsheets – something like an old shower curtain – so the mattress won’t be ruined. Whatever you do, don’t yell, be patient. The child needs to learn to feel.

So there you have it. There is no definite correlation between ADHD and bedwetting, only different schools of thought, a variety of treatment alternatives, and some useful tips for parents that can make this time more bearable.

At what age can ADD/ADHD be diagnosed?

My aunt read a pamphlet and she believes it said that both ADD and ADHD can be diagnosed in children as young as two years old. What brought it up was that my two year old daughter, Brianna, does not listen and is a little hellraiser – more so than any of her brothers or sister were at any age. My 1 year old son listens better than Brianna does. She doesn’t throw tantrums or act rude to people, she just doesn’t listen and she’ll get into stuff no matter how many times she’s told not to. She’s more impulsive than any toddler I’ve ever met. She won’t hold her attention on anything for more than a few minutes. She has two older brothers, and an older sister that by Brianna’s age listened and behaved. I know not listening and getting into stuff is part of being a toddler but it’s just ridiculously extreme with Brianna. The daycare my kids, and my nephews attend told me that after the next billing cycle they don’t want Brianna to come back, apparently she’s hard to handle.

I don’t think you can diagnose ADD/ADHD effectively until kids are in school, but that is just me. Some kids are just hyperactive, literally. They have antz in their pants all the time…does not mean they have ADD/ADHD.

It’s been a LONG time since I sat down with a dr and talked about ADD/ADHD but that last time I did there was no “easy” test to check for either of them. The “test” is mostly a LONG list of questions for teachers and parents and if you answer “yes” to a certain number of the questions they go further in depth in an attempt to make a diagnosis.

If it does eventually turn out to be ADD/ADHD, don’t worry, there are ways to work with it…I should know, I have it. It will take oooodles of patience on your part, but if you find a rythm that will work for your daughter it will work out beautifully for both you and her.

Coaching the Adhd Brain

The pill and then the skill. If you are serious about changing your life, medication alone may not be sufficient. Why? If you are an adult who has grown up with an under functioning brain you probably have a distorted negative perception of yourself and the world. With your newly tuned brain you need to learn new beliefs and habits. Coaching will guide you through this apprenticeship.

People with ADHD want to change because they are desperate to escape the chaos which dominates their lives. They often have a poor idea of how the world works and where they fit in. Medication helps the brain function better, but the belief systems are acquired early in life and if they are based on a faulty attention system they may be skewed.

The powerful effect of coaching comes from the safe friendly environment and the questions your coach asks. Questions are the keys your coach offers you to unlock your hidden resources. They lead you to think about alternatives, to explore new vistas and to choose the direction which best suits you. Making choices leads to ownership instead of victimization. The result is a new awareness of self. Your coach is a cheer leader who expects you to succeed. She is a mirror which reflects your strengths.

Coaching starts with an inventory of where the client is now and where he wants to go: his values, vision, and goals and the skills he has to manage life: organizing, planning, prioritizing and time management. He will choose two or three areas that he wants to focus on in coaching. In following sessions, held once a week by telephone, your coach hears your weekly success report, helps you explore problems that have arisen and asks you to choose and commit to your next steps for the coming week.

A successful coaching relationship requires honesty and a willingness to change. You will do the work of creating new habits. It is important that this is important for you and not your spouse, parent or employer. Your coach will ask your permission to be honest with you. It may be hard, but important for you to learn how others see you.

Is there a way to treat ADD in Adults without Medication?

I have recently been diagnosed with Adult ADD. Is there a way to treat it without drugs?

Alternative solutions for ADD and ADHD including being proactive and taking initiative to find the best possible treatment plan. Be positive. Here are a few tips.

Tips for you as an ADD Adult:

Set aside a few minutes each night to schedule the following day’s events
Organize needed everyday items so you know where things are
Use diaries and notebook organizers
Don’t be too hard on yourself or set unrealistic goals

Activities to Pursue:

While there is no single activity that guarantees teens with ADD instant success, certain types of activities tend to reap more positive results.
Look for activities with a singular focus, such as sports that center attention
Consider activities that involve movement, providing an appropriate and controlled physical outlet
Learn to play a musical instrument
Seek activities that offer individualized instruction
Explore activities that result in tangible rewards

While there is a place for prescription medication in certain cases of ADD, careful consideration should be taken regarding possible side effects and cautions.

There are also alternative solutions for ADD and ADHD available. Making simple changes in diet, sleep, exercise, and routine can help. Even trying more involved approaches like incorporating relaxation therapies such as guided imagery, meditation techniques, or yoga can be beneficial.

There are also many herbal and homeopathic remedies which can help maintain harmony, health, and systemic balance in the brain and nervous system, without side effects or sedation. These products are known for their supportive function in maintaining brain, nervous system and circulatory health, and well-being.
