adhd eeg

My son is 5 yrs. old. We are trying to get him evaluated for adhd. The doctor ordered an EEg and it came back?

an EEG and it came back abnormal. He has had no seizure activity but the EEG shows seizure activity. I don’t really understand. Can this be the reason for the EXTREME hyperactivity in my son. He’s getting kicked out of class everyday. I do’nt know what to do. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks so much!

ADHD is a controversial disorder. See, www.Cchrint.org/2009/09/15/no_more_adhd/, for a video with Dr. Mary Ann Block deploring the diagnosis of ADHD in children and giving them stimulant drugs. She suggests alternative treatment.

Good luck!

attention deficit hyperactivity disorder news

what are the similarities and differences between NLD and asperger’s syndrome?

what are the similarities and differences between NLD and ADHD?

Nonnverbal learning disorders (NLD) frequently manifest disturbances in spatial orientation, body image, facial recognition, visual-motor organization, social interaction, handwriting, mathematics and problem-solving abilities (Keller, 1998). The individual with a NLD exhibits superior language ability (left hemisphere performance), but weak nonverbal performance (right hemisphere performance). Hence the child with a NLD will be analytical, and gifted in understanding details, but unable to master the ‘whole picture’. Math and nonverbal activities are weak areas, as are social interactions, because the child is unable to utilize information from facial expressions or gestures. The NLD psychological profile is often confused with the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) profile, as hyperactivity is a behavior seen in either disorder (Keller, 1998).

ADHD is a neurological disorder with hallmark symptoms of inattention, impulsivity and distractibility (Barkley, 1990). Children with ADHD manifest poor handwriting, weak expressive language skills, weak sequencing ability, require repetition with directions, act as if they have a hearing loss, display low tolerance to noise, misunderstand the spoken message, and weak reading comprehension skills (Barkley, 1990). Individuals with ADHD are at risk for auditory processing disorders (APD) in the areas of Tolerance-Fading Memory (TFM) and Organization categories (Katz and Smith, 1991; Keller, 1998).

For a lot of sites with information try a Yahoo search for “NLD and ADHD”

How to help a compulsive liar?

I have recently figured out the root problem of my relationship problems: My boyfriend is a compulsive liar. He has all the symptoms, from ADHD, to addictions, to problems facing reality. I know that this is not an easy fix. How could I talk to him about it, and eventually work on it to get over it? I do not wish to simply break it off immediately. I want to try to work it out, and then end it if things do not change.
Edit: I want to fix him because he’s hurting out relationship, not for some other crazy reason.

Rule 1: You can’t change people.

Rule 2: You can’t change people.

Seriously, you can’t rid people of their personality disorders, all you can do is be there for them when they need it. You can suggest therapy to help him get better but he won’t ever change, not for you. He has to want to change himself.

99.99999% of the time, people don’t want to change themselves, especially not for others.

My son has been diagnosed with epilepsy to the general, he would be eligible. SSI?

My son has been in phenobarbatrol. About a year, he was already in the Depakote. For Lamotragin, keppra, and now he is. 6 We are currently having problems with his own behavior in school and at home. I know that most of the behavioral problems of his drug addiction. The school sent home a journal about his behavior. One day he will be under the table and jump to another day. To sleep, he was bouncing off the walls of his letarally have trouble focusing on work that has been. addgitated a recent blood work shows his white blood cell count is way down and his liver functions are really high. What does this mean for my son to do. I have been told we are entitled to. SSI, how do I know? Children with epilepsy may remain in what is often treated by the school as a child with a disability or not? The school my son had to pull him out of regular classes for his safety. pined a note on his shirt, and since that date. One of them out for my son's epilepsy, they have been treated at a different him. I should have a test for me for ADHD, Dyslexia, or?

I do not know how he is. The seizure, but he should see a neurologist and psychiatrist. It does not hurt to get a second opinion if you have any questions. If your doctor recommends medication too. But the two are not so bad. It is a common problem with the drug. Side effects can be very scary, especially with children. He sleepy because of the drug, which is very normal and natural. It is very difficult to focus on those drugs. Mood swings after the seizures are not uncommon either. Often, patients with epilepsy experience depression. It is a very painful experience in the human body. The brain may be going through the "Shift" or any kind of significant change. One that is jam-packed neurologist, described a "cycle" of electrical signals. When there is a "shortage" path that can not be used. However, the human body that the brain is designed to find alternative routes. I will soon be able to find a new path. Thus, tissue damage, it seems that quite a few children and they seem perfectly normal. Depending on how it affects the brain differently to chemicals in the body that The result is a mood or the other. Of the brain such as memory. I've seen it happen to some of the memory, and while some of the decline in the ability of memory. At least (long term). It's a strange thing. There are lots of traditional and stigma might be teachers who may not want to put in the effort. I do not think that the "label", he is good for the mind of a child and I will discuss with the doctor. It may seem that some of the drugs that have the potential too. Perhaps the doctors who have over medicating. He wanted to hold him to be free or not. I will fight for the quality of his life since he can not do for myself right now. They want to live without a firm yes. But at what cost? So, talk to your neurologist and lead you to a child psychiatrist. It is a chemical in the brain. Psychologists to deal with "problems" and can not prescribe medications. But a psychiatrist and They will not ask you in detail about the "problem". It's not a shame to have epilepsy. But it's also your business. It is up to you to tell if you have it. The label as well. Safety pins are not cool. I'm sure your doctor will write a letter to the school to tell them that it's not politically correct. I was surprised not to sue the district.

ADHD self-assesment?

I took a self-assessment of ADHD, it says I have a higher chance of having ADHD. I want to get the diagnosis and treatment of this They suggest 'print and apply your results to your doctor. What physicians think of this or not. What do you think will help or harm my case for drugs such as Adderal or Ritalin?

You only have to have those drugs if you are young and out of control for hypertext. ADHD is the second issue I want to put together, they are kept apart. Add as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It causes people to lose their focus and think something else. That about a lot. The only way to control the work to maintain your interest. I have found that deep breathing. It helps to have people put too are Good spellers are not afraid to be put to remember what they put for the rest of the documents and books are often out in the table to remind them of them. And they will be more overlap. ADHD is just that if you are mature enough at what you have to do is decide to control yourself and control yourself and your short attention span will be faster. This will be lost.

adhd high iq

I think I have Adult ADHD and would like to tested?

I have done my research as well as several online evaluations for Adult ADHD. Every “test” I have taken suggests a proffessional evaluates me. I have a fairly high IQ and consider myself a pretty smart guy. The problem is that I have never been able to concentrate, and it seem that there are 100 thoughts bouncing around in my head at all times. I gave up reading b/c my mind wanders so much that I read the paragraphs 3 or 4 times before I can move on. It affected my college and High school years and defiantly my career. I have read up on ADHD and have discovered that almost every “symptom” discussed is a symptom that I have. However, I cannot seem to find where to start. I live in Ocala FL and would like some help with this. Thanks

I studied a lot about ADD/ADHD (same thing) in college and by what your saying I do believe you have it. But of course make sure you see a trained specialist and not diagnosis yourself. Most people with ADD are very smart people, they just don’t know how to apply there knowledge when they need too. Nothing wrong with that because your probably really creative and have a lot of great ideas, A great trait to have. ADD has nothing to do with how smart you are so don’t let that bother you.

You’ll just get medication to help you focus which most ADD people see the first day they take it (I did!). It will really help you in life trust me.

Most people describe it by putting on glasses on for the first time and that is true.

Good luck!

Adhd Is A Myth

Saturday, April 23rd, 2011

adhd is a myth

adhd is a myth

Does classical music really have a calming/soothing effect, or is this just a myth?

My dad, who is mentally ill with ADHD, OCD and severe depression, spends most of his entire waking hours pacing around the house and humming incessantly. To fight this, I blast classical music through the computer’s speakers. I do this mostly to drown out the sound of his humming (which is absolutely insufferable, and which borders on psychological torture) but also because I feel/hope that the classical music could have a calming effect on him.

But it doesn’t work. Every time I turn on the music, he turns it back off again. He says he can’t stand it.

I have seen no evidence whatsoever that piping classical music into the rooms of our home has any effect on his disgusting behavior and habits.

I would at least like to be able to drown out the sound, but even when I’m wearing headphones, I can still hear him. Besides, by wearing headphones and listening to music at loud volumes, I’m unncessarily risking hearing damage.

Your father simply doesn’t want to be calmed or soothed, which explains why he can’t put up with the music. Too bad you have to put up with his humming though.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Nutritional

attention deficit hyperactivity disorder nutritional

attention deficit hyperactivity disorder nutritional

Can someone explain to what is tension deficit disorder and attention deficit disorder?

My son 7 yrs old has problems in the school and family doctor suspects that he may have something like this and I am waiting for the pediatrician’s appoinment. Does anyone has these problems and explain what are these and how to cope up with these?

Hi G

Here are some ideas to heal the issue.

Causes of ADHD/ADD-like Behavior
A variety of factors can cause the hyperactivity symptoms that can lead to a diagnosis of ADHD or ADD. They include undetected learning disabilities, food and environmental allergies, gastrointestinal disorders such as leaky gut syndrome, systemic yeast overgrowth, known as Candidiasis, heavy metal toxicity, poor diet, nutritional imbalances, and emotional upsets such as those caused by family problems. In some cases, the problem can also be due to undetected vision problems, such as the need for eyeglasses for reading. The overuse of antibiotics, as well as vaccines and immunization, can also cause symptoms of hyperactivity and/or ASDHD/ADD. Antibiotics can trigger allergic reactions and cause the gastrointestinal tract to become depleted of healthy bacteria, leading to candidiasis, while vaccines can severely compromise a child’s still- developing immune system, and cause other serious health problems, including neurological damage.

Quick Action Plan for ADHD/ADD-like Symptoms

1. Avoid the use of dangerous pharmaceutical drugs, such as Ritalin and Adderal.

2. Recognize that the majority of ADHD/ADD diagnoses are inaccurate, and can be based on little or no scientific evidence.

3. If you, your child or teen suffer from ADHD/ADD-like symptoms, be sure to explore all possible factors that may be causing hyperactivity. Essential to consider is poor diet, nutritional imbalances, undiagnosed learning disabilities and/or vision problems, lack of emotional support, heavy metal toxicity, and food and environmental allergies, all of which should be screened for.

4. Avoid all sugars, wheat products, refined carbohydrates, sodas, processed foods, preservatives, artificial sweeteners, corn syrup, alcohol, and hydrogenated and trans-fatty oils.

5. Avoid foods high in salicylates such as apples, almonds, oranges, peppers, and tomatoes.

6. Emphasize organic fresh fruits and vegetables, organic whole grains such as amaranth and quinoa, organic free-range meats, poultry, and wild-caught fish, and drink plenty of pure, filtered water.

7. Nutritional supplements include vitamin B-complex, vitamin B3, vitamin B6, folic acid, essential fatty acids (EFAs), omega-3 oils, digestive enzymes, and probiotic supplements such as acidophilus and bifidus bacterium, tinctured zeolite and chlorella.

8. Chamomile, linden flower, milk thistle, and red clover may be useful herbs.

9. If heavy metal toxicity is a factor, consider working with a physician trained in the use of chelation therapy.

10. Many excellent books on healing ADHD are available; recommend “Children with Starving Brains” by Jaquelyn McCandless, M.D., and “A Path to Success” by Lawrence Weathers, Ph.D.

Best of health to you

Questions for parents / teachers to children with ADHD?

Hi! I am a final year student at the University. This year, as part of the thesis, I have to. Completed research on the topic of my choice in the beginning. (Age 3-8 years), I have chosen as ADHD (Attention. Lack of attention deficit disorders), I'm not sure. Whether you're a parent, I have something to say about meditation and study. How do you think your child is treated within their school. They included like other children. Other or not, and teachers how to make you think that children with ADHD will be in the education system? They are or not Thanks a lot! xx.

My son has ADHD. It had been a struggle for him socially, he has always been a problem for the big dance c,. Speak out of turn, etc. So he was sort of saying that the problem maker. Other children, he is annoying. veiwed so they didn't put a lot of time with him. But he is the only school to do more just to "fit." As far as the school staff itself over the years, he has some teachers. Just didn't get it if the child did something wrong, it is my son right away who did it. It was all because of this that I decided to poisoned him. Now he will get most, and since he just changed. To middle school. (Middle school starts in the elementary years. 5 where I live), he is not called trouble makers to the staff to be like them to be restarted. He joined football and making friends. How does ADHD affect the brain???

I’m doing a project and I cannot find anything on how ADHD affect the brain somone plz help!!

Brain Functioning in ADHD
ADHD is not the result of laziness, poor motivation, low intelligence, disobedience, poor upbringing or selfishness—to name a few. Although having ADHD doesn’t exclude you from having some of these difficulties, these problems do not cause chronic inattention, hyperactivity and impulsiveness—the core symptoms of ADHD. ADHD is a medical disorder, and it can be caused by a number of factors that affect how the brain develops and functions.

Current research indicates the frontal lobe, basal ganglia, caudate nucleus, cerebellum, as well as other areas of the brain, play a significant role in ADHD because they are involved in complex processes that regulate behavior. These higher order processes are referred to as executive functions. Executive functions include such processes as inhibition, working memory, planning, self-monitoring, verbal regulation, motor control, maintaining and changing mental set and emotional regulation. According to a current model of ADHD developed by Dr. Russell Barkley, problems in response inhibition is the core deficit in ADHD. This has a cascading effect on the other executive functions listed above.

What factors could account for neurological differences in brain development and functioning that could contribute to ADHD? The main factors studied to date have been: fetal exposure to toxic substances (e.g., alcohol and tobacco) during pregnancy, exposure to lead, trauma to the brain from head injury or illness and differences that could be attributed to heredity.

Please visit the site listed below…it should be of some help!

adhd barkley

Russell Barkley is the preeminent world power in ADHD. He gave the address recently. This issue CHADD (Children and Adults with ADHD). Meeting that he has for many years. When it comes Barkley, ADHD world to listen, he was instrumental in the research, outline what we know about ADHD. But he is near retirement and he is committed to making the diagnosis. Of ADHD is associated with a combined type of ADHD, and no one

Text of his keynote address. CHADD was that he wanted to lack of inhibition of behavior or mood dysregulation. Medical Center is a symptom of waiting to see when they diagnose and treat ADHD. He went to great length in his lecture explained. dysregulation. Emotion is a home and life. Destroyers' of ADHD.

People with ADHD and dysregulation. Mood is more like a go. .

  • Get divorced.
  • Get Fired from work
  • Involved in motor accidents.
  • Drugs and alcohol
  • Problems in enforcing the law.
  • Be in prison.

He spent a great deal of time explaining that. dysregulation. Emotion is not included in the definition of ADHD and that this is a major problem that needed. Integration, I do not think anyone will argue that emotional control problems with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Researchers all agree that this is part of the problem of management control seen in this condition and that this Lack of emotional control is not something different from what we call behavior impulsive

Issues do dysregulation. Emotional (or behavioral unripe). The main problem of ADHD so many people who have ADHD do not have emotions. DYSREGULATION! Yes, I shouted because Russell Barkley เพื่อให้แน่ใจว่าของตัวเองเกี่ยวกับเรื่องนี้ว่าน่าคลั่ง! I am not alone in dissent Barkley, Dr. Thomas Brown of Yale SOB has researched extensively ADHD and concluded that the theory of Barkley will be used together with the type of ADHD. Leaves and other subtypes of ADHD find 'home' diagnosis

I like to think of dysregulation. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, emotional as well as brittle diabetes. Patients with brittle diabetes. Sometimes referred to as diabetic patients are unstable and likely to have blood sugar that are either hazardous or dangerous high and low blood sugar, they will not be difficult to control. These very high. Brown has no control leads to better health outcomes for many patients with this type of diabetes.

Fortunately for those of us in health care and for people with diabetes,. Most diabetic patients can not Patients with brittle diabetes. Some diabetics are controlled well in the food and more. Will be well on drug control. But most of the diabetic patients we see have achieved control of their blood sugar in some Keeping all Diabetic patients as if they are diabetic or make people vulnerable to a poster child for diabetes, brittle diabetes will not make people feel the same way that a diabetic diet. Poster child makes no sense. Diabetes mellitus is a medical condition with a variety of people with diabetes and no one represents all people with diabetes.

ADHD is a medical Conditions are different kinds of snakes. Adder are certain to incite, some accidentally,. Some weak and some of the hyperactive. Temperament types, but only because the poorest live. And health outcomes does not mean that this type of position will be front and center in this condition.

Most people who do not intend. ADHD (ADHD – PI) did not have emotions. dysregulation. They may have a chance to grieve But they're not the type of ADHD that they will lose their emotions or can not control the emotions themselves. Many types of combination of ADHD (ADHD – C) is not emotionally disturbed. dysregulation. The middle of them both. Symptoms of behavior seems to be reduced by almost ripe age, just as the symptoms of ADHD. Decrease with age, the main symptom that you see in adults with ADHD have problems using other administrative functions. Any of these symptoms are signs that the major type of being accidentally in ADHD (ADHD – PI), and understanding of the slowdown. Tempo and they include:.

  • To organize and activate the function.
  • The focus for the work
  • Supervision Care and effort and
  • Working memory.

I had a physics professor in college who said that a genius of science that has been measured by how long. Scientists of their desperate field. What he meant was that when scientists are highly respected in their,. Other scientists would stop searching for answers, because the theory of intelligence to believe. And interesting.

I think Russell Barkley correct. dysregulation. The mood of some people with ADHD more damage to society. I do not agree with that. emotional dysregulation. Is a major problem of most people who have ADHD and I would argue that society has been damaged, although in a way. The subtler disorder, lack of focus, lack of existence and functioning of memory. Problems existing in the far larger number of people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

This does not mean that you will be less committed to work and / Or liability or a burden to colleagues without children or not? I can see the temptation for parents To leave early to get children to ease the treatment of children,. Especially in the case very much like it has been authorized by the employer in the spirit of the relationship of the work unity. But, and this is big. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and video games are a problem.

My almost 9 year old has ADHD, followed by the odd (Disorders of provoking the opposite). And PTSD (stress disorders post. tramatic) he spent XR Adderall 25mg once a day. All he needs to do is play on. PS2 or PC, or code gameboy, which will allow him out of trouble and he did not fight well with other children. Other (he is the oldest from 4) I worry that the game will hurt him because he does not want to spend more time with family I will not allow shooting or fighting game, so I knew that he was not. Behaviors that are not from them. His education will not suffer, he is actually pretty good at reading and he loves math. I worry about his behavior does not say much for his future. I have tried limited his time. In the game, but he was not playing when he is fighting with other children, or destruction. What is your advice.

While video games can certainly occupy. Your ADHD child that they can. overstimulating. My husband has ADHD and At 30, he still has a passion for video games because they give the brain to stimulate their focus. Thus, while He has lost focus on what most (I like to listen to:)) he can hyperfocus in video games because it has changed so quickly. He can take his game to play the video and in that time. It may not be the best thing for him will help him focus. As long as your children do well with his school work, it is OK to allow him to use video games to stop his work to organize his brain. He began to try to have more interest with the other kids by having them play video games with him in his first Then, try to find a board game or some other activity. That your child can do together. Participation in sports physical can help ADHD children. – Craves movement to team sports can really help. Baseball, football, basketball and more. Which requires a lot of movement and action. Can really help to organize children with ADHD.
