adhd evaluation for adults

How fast does Adderall wear off?

My psychiatrist just prescribed Adderall at a low dosage (10mg) to help with me with focus and severe lack of motivation in my everyday life. (For background info, I have had an adult ADD/ADHD evaluation, which was non-conclusive, and I’ve also seen a sleep specialist to address daytime fatigue due to frequent night awakenings, for which I take another medication.) I’ve been on Adderall for only a few days.

I was wondering among those who have taken it for short or long periods, about how long does the affect last? Does it last all day, or only 8 hours, or 6 hours, etc? I have noticed that it’s MUCH different from caffeine, from which I’ll feel adrenaline-pumping hyper for a few hours, then get fuzzy. Adderall seems to help me merely feel awake… which is an amazing feeling when you’re used to walking around in a fog most of the time.

There are two types. XR, and IR — Extended Release, and Instant Release. I will assume you are referring to the Instant Release.

In this case you would have an overall noticeable therapeutic effect for roughly 6 hours, though can be perceived to last longer in those with little to no tolerance, or high sensitivity to amphetamines.

No, instant release is not designed to last all day,.. though it is often prescribed to be used once daily despite this fact.

You will become tolerant to the effects in time,.. the longer you take it, like most other medications, the body will adapt and the duration may decrease. The perceived effectiveness is likely to lessen, though this might take quite some time. It has a high risk profile, meaning that abuse potential and/or dependency is likely over a long enough period of time. Though if it is a medication you need to function and improve your quality of life, then there is nothing wrong with this. It is just the nature of medicine in general, and these things have to be dealt with in ongoing consultations with your doctor over the ‘years’ so to speak.

Adderrall is nothing like Caffeine — It is like comparing apples and oranges to be honest.

Caffeine works as an Adenosine Antagonist (which plays a role in neural blood flow, CNS stimulation, etc) — Due to this mechanism of action the method in which is works and the results are substantially different than Adderall…

Adderall is an amphetamine — Which works on the dopamine and nor-epinephrine in the brain. These two chemicals produce a much stronger stimulant, cognitive clarity, and CNS both sympathetic and parasympathetic response.

In other words, the Adderall works in a completely different way … think of it like a key that goes into different locks in your brain to unlock the effects. These effects produce what you have already experienced subjectively, and usually creates a greater stimulation of the CNS.

You report that you don’t feel much more than the desired effects from this amphetamine — which is great. Although it has a greater “body-load” than caffeine.. even though caffeine feels , for you, more distressing on your body.

For example, if you were to take your heart rate after about 2-3 hours of taking the Adderall it would be elevated and your blood pressure would likely have increased to some degree. Though, if you are otherwise healthy.. the level of this increase is well within tolerable limits at proper, therapeutic, doses.

Keep in mind, none of this information is to discourage your use, or to cause concern. It is a useful medication.. and continue taking it as prescribed by your doctor — I am merely pointing out the differences in your perceived effect.

Just for completeness — The “Extended Release” is designed to last for about 12-14 hours. Though again this is subjective (In some people it will last for less, and other longer.) Also there is a definite ‘curve’ in Adderall’s potency after ingestion. It will slowly and steadily increase until it peaks after roughly 3 hours and then start tapering off the other way (in the IR).

So it should feel the most ‘energizing’ about halfway through the perceived effects.

Glad it is helping your situation,

Adhd Rating Scale 4

adhd rating scale 4

adhd rating scale 4

How would u rate the following 15 drugs?

on a scale from 1-10 (1-least dangerous; 10-most hard core)

weed
coke
crack
acid
x
heroin
angel dust
speed
meth
ludes
mescaline
shrooms
roofies
DMT
GHB

In order to quantify the danger of a given drug it is necessary to give a context. Drugs are only as hardcore as their users. Take meth for example, a notoriously ‘dangerous’ drug, which is tactually administered safely in a medical setting as a treatment for ADHD (brand name Desoxyn).

That said, based on the trends of their users, I made some generalizations and compared their various qualities. You’ll notice that all drugs have their different risks. It’s up to the user to recognize them and take the proper precautions accordingly. Always do your research before trying something new.

Health issues – Cannabis 2, cocaine salt (‘coke’) 9, cocaine freebase (‘crack’) 9, LSD (‘acid’) 1, Ecstasy tablets 7, MDMA (pure Ecstasy ingredient) 3, heroin 10, PCP (‘angel dust’) 5, methamphetamine (‘meth’) 5, methaqualone (‘ludes’) 7, mescaline 1, psilocybin mushrooms 1, Flunitrazepam (‘roofies’) 7, DMT 1, GHB 7.

Addiction potential – Cannabis 4, cocaine salt 9, cocaine freebase 10, LSD 1, Ecstasy tablets 2, MDMA 2, heroin 9, PCP 3, methamphetamine 8, methaqualone 6, mescaline 1, psilocybin mushrooms 1, Flunitrazepam 6, DMT 1, GHB 4.

Dysfunction of effects – Cannabis 3, cocaine salt 2, freebase cocaine 2, LSD 8, Ecstasy tablets 4, MDMA 4, heroin 6, PCP 10, methamphetamine 1, methaqualone 4, mescaline , psilocybin mushrooms 8, Flunitrazepam 5, DMT 10, GHB 3.

Psychological impact – Cannabis 5, cocaine salt 4, freebase cocaine 5, LSD 10, Ecstasy tablets 7, MDMA 6, heroin 3, PCP 4, methamphetamine 4, methaqualone 2, mescaline 8, psilocybin mushrooms 8, Flunitrazepam 2, DMT 8, GHB 1.

ADHD drugs while I can breastfeeding?

I will get back to school soon. And this I suspect that if there is any ADHD drug that I can use to help me out. I am breastfeeding and I do not want anything serious because it might upset my child. Anybody has any suggestions I will try not to use drugs while I was in school before I got pregnant. And I ended up completely failed most of my classes. After I had put Adderall, and it really helps out a lot.

Due to changes in hormones after you. In fact, your child may have symptoms of ADHD, you are. milder as do a lot of women have a short attention span. med that I know that you can use without risk. But have you ever try to use essential oils do not? If lavender oil. Great for helping you stay calm and relaxed. They have a lot of different oils for different things that you can burn spray Etc / You can look into essential oils to wire.

adhd pills names

This is a good idea to do with How can my meds.

I am 16 and in medicine for ADHD. The name of the meds are really Intuniv & Strattera, I tried to pull them out. Because I thought I was really happy with my performance on not using it and know that I can work without it. But my parents do not think I can do it and I will strive to live in When I am off, I have same problem as when I'm in it. But worse in the eyes of my parents. As a result, there is a bit of bias when testing out the behavior of me. meds meds I did some research and found that since they were created in your system will be cold turkey side effects make the least. What I want to do is to stop using. meds, but it seems to hide the pills that I take. It after a few weeks, I'll tell my parents, so the least bias. This is a good idea to do with How can my meds.

It is difficult to determine drug behavior. Working on your own, I was put on Prozac and are open to me as a monster. I do not understand it. But even working with my friends, my mother get me out of it. However, it is your body, so if you think you do not. Is it necessary to talk with your doctor. I think going to the gym is the way they are thinking in comparison to more nutrients and weight program.

parents with toddlers who are on a gluten free diet?

I have a 15 month old who may need to be put on a gluten free diet, and after reading website after website I don”t really understand what she can eat. It just seems like everything has gluten in it.

So my question is: If your child has this problem, how do you deal with it, and is it hard to find things to eat for your child.

There is an awesome cookbook, The Kid Friendly Autism and ADHD Cookbook. We went GF/CF for over 8 months after my son’s autism diagnosis. There is gluten in practically everything, and it has hidden names. Stick with fruits, veggies, and un processed meats. Rice bread is pretty awful tasting, but you are starting your kiddo young. Good luck. We were giving my son tofu in his smoothies etc to get extra protein in.

adhd society of canada

im searching for the adverse effect of detergnt in shampoo on the skin?

including sodium lauryl sulphate

sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), is an ionic surfactant that is used in household products such as toothpastes, shampoos, shaving foams and bubble baths for its thickening effect and its ability to create a lather. The molecule has a tail of 12 carbon atoms, attached to a sulfate group, giving the molecule the amphiphilic properties required of a detergent.

An EPA survey concluded that indoor air was 3 to 70 times more polluted than outdoor air. Another EPA study stated that the toxic chemicals in household cleaners are 3 times more likely to cause cancer than outdoor air. CMHC reports that houses today are so energy efficient that “out-gassing” of chemicals has no where to go, so it builds up inside the home. We spend 90% of our time indoors, and 65% of that time at home. Moms, infants and the elderly spend 90% of their time in the home. National Cancer Association released results of a 15-year study concluding that women who work in the home are at a 54% higher risk of developing cancer than women who work outside the home. Cancer rates have almost doubled since 1960.. Cancer is the Number ONE cause of death for children.

There has been a 26% increase in breast cancer since 1982. Breast cancer is the Number ONE killer of women between the ages of 35 and 54. Primary suspects are laundry detergents, household cleaners and pesticides. There has been a call from the U.S./ Canadian Commission to ban bleach in North America. Bleach is being linked to the rising rates of breast cancer in women, reproductive problems in men and learning and behavioral problems in children. Chemicals get into our body through inhalation, ingestion and absorption. We breathe 10 to 20 thousand liters of air per day. There are more than 3 million poisonings every year. Household cleaners are the Number ONE cause of poisoning of children.

Since 1980, asthma has increased by 600%. The Canadian Lung Association and the Asthma Society of Canada identify common household cleaners and cosmetics as triggers. ADD/ADHD are epidemic in schools today. Behavioral problems have long been linked to exposure to toxic chemicals and molds. Chemical and environmental sensitivities are known to cause all types of headaches. Labeling laws do not protect the consumer – they protect big business. The New York Poison Control Center reports that 85% of product warning labels were either inadequate or incorrect for identifying a poison, and for first aid instructions. Formaldehyde, phenol, benzene, toluene, xylene are found in common household cleaners, cosmetics, beverages, fabrics and cigarette smoke. These chemicals are cancer causing and toxic to the immune system.

Chemicals are attracted to, and stored in fatty tissue. The brain is a prime target for these destructive organics because of its high fat content and very rich blood supply. The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health has found more than 2500 chemicals in cosmetics that are toxic, cause tumors, reproductive complications, biological mutations and skin and eye irritations. Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, circulatory disorders, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome, depression, and hormonal problems are diseases commonly related to chemical exposure.

Pesticides only have to include active ingredients on the labels, even though the inert (inactive) ingredients may account for 99%, many of which are toxic and poisons. More facts follow from Indoor Air Pollution Seminar. Our homes should have a complete change of air 3 or 4 times a day. New homes are built so airtight that it is impossible to get a complete change of air. We should leave our windows open on each side of our house for better cross ventilation.

In Alberta last year accidental poisoning statistics were as follows:
Between the ages of:

0 – 4 years – 11, 515 poisonings
5 – 10 years – 1,524
11 – 19 years 1,019
20 and over 7,799

The top three culprits according to Poison Control: Household cleaners, bleach and medications. In the USA the #1 cause of accidental poisoning is Dawn Dishwashing Detergent (c). WHY? Because it is the #1 seller. Tide contains Lye and is the #1 polluter. It is also the #1 seller.

Deep Woods and Off have an ingredient called DEET. DEET causes seizures in children and adults. Inert (or inactive) ingredients in products are protected by trade secrets and very dangerous. In the work place Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) must accompany any product used. The work place and the outdoors are considered “legal environments” while the air in homes is not. So regulations for outdoor air pollution and toxins in the workplace are much more strict than in the home.

The ideal humidity rate is 35-45%. Higher rates cause mold. Use of humidifiers and dehumidifiers with standing water encourages mold growth in the water. The ideal temperature for homes is 68-72 degrees. Higher temperatures make chemicals more active. When we shower, the hot water aerates the chlorine and can cause headaches as can the use of aerosols. Steam from our dryer vents is extremely toxic from the chemicals in fabric softener sheets and residues from detergents and bleach.

Chemicals used to dry clean clothing are very dangerous and can cause cancer. When you bring dry cleaning home you should hang it outside for at least 3 days. Dry cleaning chemicals are the same cancer causing chemicals in mothballs. There are 4700 chemicals in tobacco smoke. Formaldehyde is one of the largest indoor pollutants in our homes. Products containing Formaldehyde include:

Antiperspirants
Mouthwash
Toothpaste
Tupperware
Permanent Press clothing
Floor waxes and furniture polishes
Baggies
Coffee
Wax Paper
Paper Money

Symptoms caused by formaldehyde are: Allergies, cancer, immune system failings and asthma

Phenols are a major indoor pollutant. Phenols are absorbed by lungs, and skin. Symptoms include caustic burns, kidney and liver damage and hyperactivity. Products containing Phenols include:

Acne medications
Baking Powder
Computers
TV sets
Mouthwash
Sugar substitutes
Wallpaper

Do you think the major products are safe? WRONG! Lysol (c) is even more dangerous than we thought. It contains phenols and dioxin (Agent Orange). Bleach must be safe because people have been using it for years, right? WRONG! When using bleach, antiseptics or chlorine in industrial areas you are required by OSHA to wear impervious protective clothing, hard hats, boots, gloves, apron or coveralls, chemical goggles or full face shield and use only in well ventilated areas.

When using Easy Off (c) make sure all your skin is covered, wear protective clothing, do not breath in and don’t get on your enamel, (if this product will hurt the enamel on your stove, can you imagine what it will do to us?).

NTAs were banned in 1970. Lobbying by Proctor & Gamble in 1980 put them back into home products although they are extremely cancer causing. What are they for? ONLY to make more suds in detergents to make you think your clothes are getting cleaner.

Our immune system is very powerful, like a janitorial system. Giving our bodies good nutrition means our body can repair itself and be able to handle what we face in the world. Household chemicals cause all kinds of symptoms – from cardiovascular problems, panic attacks, and anxiety attacks to bedwetting.

Eliminating the cause of the environmental illness is more effective and much less expensive than treating the symptoms. Prevention – 80% – 90% effective. Treatments – 50% – 60% effective. What seems to make the most sense? How can you find help?

Throughout Dr. Woods’ entire presentation, she never mentioned our company’s name. At the end, when asked, she pointed at a display of the products we recommend and said, I use these products. adhd doctors denver

what is the difference between thetwo?

my mom and my doctor says i have both ADD and ADHD. but every one at school says they are the same thing but they are not. what are the differences between ADD and ADHD? i really need to know. to prove them wrong

The difference between ADD and ADHD, in short, is a simple “nothing.” But since I’m sure you want a more of a detailed explanation, I will elaborate.

Through the years ADHD (Attention Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder) has had many names. ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) is one of those many names. ADD has been used so recently and so frequently that many people still use it instead of ADHD. This has naturally created confusion among adults with ADHD and parents of children who have ADHD. It raises the question “Which one do I have?”

Imagine there is a new disease in San Francisco. The doctors study it and call it “Disease A.” Later that week, in Denver, doctors discover that same disease and not knowing that disease already exists, call it “Disease B.” Everywhere this disease shows up it is called by a different name. No one has made the connection that Disease A is the same thing as Disease B and C and D and etc… One day all the doctors get together at a conference and decide that all these alphabet diseases are the same thing. They call it by one name since twenty names for the same disease is confusing.

Now, try to relate the fictional story to ADHD, previously known as ADD, brain damaged syndrome, minimal brain dysfunction (MBD), hyperkinetic impulsive disorder, and so on. Since all of these have no major differences and are almost exactly alike, they are given one name. While the diversity is not as substantial, there are different types of ADHD just as there are different types of cancer. Could you imagine if lung cancer was called something totally different than colon cancer? It would get very confusing.

Some professionals still use the term “ADD” but it is the same as if they used “ADHD.” To sum it up, ADD technically is ADHD and vice versa.

There are two main types of ADHD: Inattentive and Hyperactive. Both are considered ADHD. If someone is diagnosed with ADD it’s the same as “ADHD: Predominately inattentive.” Predominately inattentive means that the hyper-active elements of ADHD are not as relevant

Why Do People Hate Hearing Honest/Truthful Answers?

This is more of a rant, than a genuine question, but…

I notice that people on yahoo answers hate reading truthful answers. This is just an example, not something that really happened: Someone will ask a question about how to lose weight. I’ll get a pile of thumbs down when I answer with “Eat less and exercise.” while other responses will be feel good answers like “take these magic pills, but neglect your calorie count, because the pills should work” will get thumbs up. Unbelievable.

If I ask a question, I don’t want bullsh** or feel good answers that are sugar coated. What gives?
Not to mention it gets picked as the best answer

You are so right! It’s because we’ve become a country full of narcissistic people who need to have their ears tickled all the time! Consequently, we either have to stroke everyone and tell them how wonderful they are, or weigh our words so that we’re politically correct, or we are considered to be mean-spirited and prejudiced and who knows what else! It’s so ridiculous — plus, the added down side is that our children are being brought up to believe that they should feel happy at all times, they should not have to compete, and they shouldn’t have to eat what they don’t want to, wear what they don’t want to, or DO what they don’t want to. The result? Mediocrity at best and the great probability that we are raising our children so poorly that they will not be able to compete in this global society. As soon as we succumbed to the notion that we need to feel good inside and out at all times and if we don’t, we have some alphabet soup psychological disorder that must be explored ad nauseum…well, we were on our way to ruin! ADHD-ADD-OCC-OCD and on and on. People need to find self-control and self discipline…How’s that for a continuation to your rant? I SO enjoyed your ‘rant’…Thanks for starting my day with all my blood circulating and raring to go!!!

adhd myths and facts

Has a lot of myths about ADHD and there are many people who believe that ADHD is nothing more than an excuse or a way to allow some children to get away with bad behavior.

I can tell you first hand that this is not true. But I understand why people can think that way. A lot of people do not understand ADHD and how children are affected.

For parents of children with ADHD much more confusing and destructive than trying to figure out what behavior you expect from your child. Who work with families affected by that. ADHD, I can tell you that this is one of the most common questions and struggles that parents face.

My child in this manner is not why Is there anything I need to do. They had just received it or not.

Let 's Get one thing straight right away. ADHD can and should not be used as an excuse. But it can be a powerful explanation for what happened.

I always recommend that parents look at the behavior and ask a question, "this behavior is acceptable?".

When we have an answer then we can figure out how are we going to manage. To behave and what influences ADHD on behavior only.

Sorry Vs description.

The most important step right now is to truly understand. And agree that ADHD is a real biological condition. Whether you see it as a disorder of the illness or lower depending on you. But I do not use those words.

I'd rather focus on the differences in the brain and differences in behavior as a result. To me, ADHD is a brain process and experiences in the world in a different way. But that does not mean that there is a challenge not only for people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

I'm not saying that at all. But I believe that the behavior of All the company can control,. Form, learning and management, no matter what. That's the hard part.

Most people focus on the symptoms of ADHD brand,. impulsivity, and inattention Unfortunately, these As a result of what is actually occurring for children with ADHD.

The real battle comes from the difficulty with time management,. Organization, planning, decision-making,. Memory function and other related. That we associate with "executive.."

When we understand and accept this, we can change the idea that behavior is not part of ADHD. And really just the effect of these challenges children face too real, and often with less help and support.

The next time your child that you do not behave. You do not want to accept it and you certainly do not have to stand for them or others. By using the excuse that "Oh, it's my ADHD child.."

But now you know. And can work with your child to be more aware of how and when they are more motivated,. The hyperactive and inattentive Now that you know exactly what tasks and activities that lead to such behavior is possible. Effects of ADHD children have been very disappointed.

Just wondering. You will have an interest in books written for them by the mother. With attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in children. Experience an error, students have learned what works what does not. Facts and myths. What say you?

แnnnonฉanha! I love books like that. That represents something other Other has been associated with different situations. I think it's a great idea. If you are thinking about writing the next one. Adhd Signs In Adults

adhd signs in adults

adhd signs in adults

Add/adhd:children – Adolescents – Adults

In the past decade, prescriptions for Ritalin, a stimulant medication commonly used for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), increased five-fold, with 90 percent of all prescriptions worldwide consumed in the United States. As many parents grow leery of the traditional drug approach to ADHD, promising results with non-drug treatments that focus on postural stability, nutrition and lifestyle changes that affect brain activity are emerging. Some children may simply have difficulty learning certain subjects, but the current system, in a sense, prompts school officials to encourage their parents to have the children diagnosed with ADHD. The higher the number of disabled kids in the school, the more funding the school can apply for. Some teachers might also have difficulty with students who have a different style of learning. If the child is a visual learner and the teacher is not, perhaps the child is not being taught in a way he or she can learn from. Before diagnosing the child with ADHD, several questions need to be answered, such as is the child too active? Bored? Does the child suffer with dyslexia or a different learning pattern? It can be a behavior problem, problems at home, or frustrations with the teacher’s style. If we went to a conference where the speakers taught in a way we can’t learn, we would be frustrated and would misbehave, we’d get up and leave or chat to the person sitting next to us.

The traditional medical model, however, seems to follow the cookie-cutter principle. The diagnosis of ADHD is based on a questionnaire. But this is not enough. True ADHD patients have other signs, tics, tremors, balance or postural problems, or unusual sensitivity to touch, movement, sights, or sounds. Unfortunately, although medications can keep ADHD under control, they don’t cure it. Eighty percent of patients have ADHD features in adolescence, and up to 65 percent maintain them in adulthood.

Our office offers a non-drug and non-invasive integrative functional neurologic rehabilitative treatment alternative for ADHD patients that targets the underlying problems, not just symptoms. Motor activity, especially development of the postural muscles, is the baseline function of brain activity. Anything affecting postural muscles will influence brain development. Musculoskeletal imbalance will create imbalance of brain activity, and one part of the brain will develop faster than the other, and that’s what’s happening in ADHD patients.

Chiropractic neurologists are trained to identify the under-functioning part of the brain and find treatments to correct the problem, to help that hemisphere grow. On every patient, we perform a brain function exam. We test visual and auditory reflexes through, for example, flashing light in the eye, or asking patients to listen to music in one or the other ear. When the problem is identified, patients are placed on a treatment program, and most of the therapies can be done at home. Patients are asked to smell certain things several times a day … or wear special glasses. We also focus on their individual problems. Some children, for example, have difficulty with planning, organization, and coordination, so they benefit from timing therapies. They learn to clap or tap to the metronome, perform spinning and balancing exercises. Although currently no studies comparing chiropractic neurological and drug treatment for ADHD are available, chiropractic neurologists are compiling the data. We test children before they start the treatment and then every three months. Within the first three months, the children get a two grade level increase on average, which is pretty dramatic. With children on medications, the improvement in academic performance is short term and lasts only as long as they take the medication. Our programs change brain function and the improvement doesn’t go away.

Adults taking methylphenidate (Ritalin), NOT related to ADHD?

I had a golf-ball size non-functioning pituitary tumor removed 2 years ago. The only hormone I have become deficient in so far is growth hormone, which I am replacing with Humatrope. I thought that would be the answer to how lousy I was feeling but I am still extremely tired all the time, have no motivation, lack of interest, can’t concentrate at work, can’t remember anything; basically all the signs of what I’ve discovered is called “apathy syndrome”. The research I’ve done indicates that methylphenidate, or Ritalin, can help people like me get some function and quality of life back. I have found very little info on use in adults and would like to know if any adults out there have been on Ritalin (or a related drug) and if you know what the long-term effects and side effects are? I hate the thought of taking drugs but I hate feeling elderly at age 33 even more… I need to find an answer…

I have not tried Ritalin before but you can check this website for people’s experiences with it. Most of the experiences written are about recreational uses, but some are health related and even looking at recreational user experiences may give you an idea about the side effects of the drug:

Where to Take the Best Adult Dyslexia Test Online

Maybe one of the Problems with the dyslexia adult learning disability is that educational programs frequently teach to the majority, ignoring different kid and adult learning styles. Dyslexic people are sometimes really smart, but are branded as “slow learners” since they’re nervous, distractible and confused. Later in life, folks are fearful of taking an adult dyslexia test because they do not want people to judge them. Yet, understanding how one’s brain is wired and which systems can help an individual overcome a road block can be very beneficial.

An adult dyslexia test can be useful to explain one’s condition. Often times, someone with dyslexia signs gets a false diagnosis. Right off the bat, many people are perceived as “underachievers” who just don’t care about achieving quality marks in school or getting ahead in life. These stigmas and stereotypes can forestall an individual from rising above the labels. Kids are often diagnosed with ADHD nervousness because they’re perceived to be smart but fidgety and under-performing. Being put on medication such as Ritalin is no way to triumph over basic reading problems. Other people with dyslexia are even seen as having adults Asperger syndrome, depression or even mild psychological retardation since they seem “different” from others. With a correct diagnosis, individuals can expect more reasonable goals and achieve more and more before.

There are 2 primary places to find an adult dyslexia test; either through a therapist or on the internet. Chartered therapists may own a practice or operate through a local college. College psychologists are generally doubtful of evidence of dyslexia and wish to send disabled adults to their one-size-fits-all reading and writing centers instead. Private practice therapists are often much better with their assessments and reporting, though they’re also more dear.

Online adult dyslexia tests may seem dear, but not compared to an office visit. Once the test is finished, the results will be determined and you will then get a diagnosis and be informed about the different adult learning styles. There’s more than one adult dyslexia test used to diagnose adult learning disabilities, but one of the most frequently recommended is the Amidyslexic Adult Dyslexia test. It takes about 25 minutes to complete and, unlike most dyslexia screening tests that can be taken on the internet, assesses your performance, against one of the largest samples ever collected for dyslexia testing.

Video Games are the Future

*Thirty Five Years Ago

The fledgling video game business was struggling to make a name for itself as it competed with toys, playing cards and board games for customers. The early games like Pong, Pac Man and Donkey Kong were very basic in terms of technology, and they had very little creativity involved with their designs and functions. Today, the computer online game industry is a multi billion dollar extravaganza that has progressed increasingly, and it is starting to steal some of the spotlight from the glamorous motion picture industry.

With technological advances like the next generation motion capture systems, high definition graphics, Dolby Sound and Motion Sensor Remote controls that enable the players to actually get up off their chairs and get some exercise as they kick, punch, jump, fish, swing, golf and dance their way through sessions, video games have become more than just toys. They are an escape that offers a whole new reality. Kids and adults alike are playing Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii games more than ever before and the industry itself is getting bigger and bigger every day.

But there is one great advantage that video games have over movies, and that is that they offer interaction. You can actually be involved with what is happening on the screen, instead of just watching it like you do at a theater. This gives you the feeling of empowerment that you just do not get from watching movies. These games offer more than an escape, they offer a journey into another world where your actions have no real negative consequences on yourself.

Video games have come a long way since the days of Pong, Pac Man and Donkey Kong. While the Video Game Awards are not quite the Oscars yet, they are certainly on a pace to give them a run for their money in the future in terms of publicity. Celebrities are starting to notice that the spotlight on Hollywood is being shared by a newcomer to the world of entertainment, and they are following the light, as they do naturally. It is an inevitable natural progression, much like the relationship between a whale and a pilot fish. Big celebrity names are starting to integrate into the computer game industry, and as this happens it only means more publicity for both parties involved. This is ultimately good for gamers too, for as the industry gets bigger and bigger, the games and the consoles will only get better and better.

Recently, many new online gaming services have been introduced. The world is having a visible affect on the online gaming industry, as more and more people turned towards playing and enjoying online games. Games on the Internet were once an imaginary phrase, but since the introduction of thousands of user friendly and easy operating games on the Internet, people are finding that fiction has become reality.

*Chill out and Play Games

One of the best ways the majority of us relax, stay engaged, stave off boredom, or even burn away hours at work is to play games video games, online computer games (if you dont know there are probably a few addictive games in your word program, right?), or online games.

While we now know, too, that when you play games (of any mode and of certain types), those games help to sharpen some of our mental faculties, Alzheimers, and, in my coo-coo world, the insanity of such needful mental aberrations as ADD, ADHD, and OCDthough this last benefit is not necessarily empirically proven. There has been quite a bit of research done on this topic and you can bet there will be a whole lot more to come.

So lets sit back, kick our shoes off, and relax playing your favorit games.

Golf is know as a sport that is more mental than physical. I have the physical part down pat. I get complimented on my swing a lot, and can hit the ball well. (I’m not trying to brag, I’m just trying to give you a better sense of the situation.) However, whenever I go out and play eighteen, I have such a hard time focusing on what I want to do. If I do manage to focus on some holes, I play much better than I do otherwise. Even if I go and tell myself I’m going to focus all eighteen, I forget and don’t do it. I have ADHD so I don’t know if that contributes to it. Basically I want to hear from people who had this problem and fixed it, or know of a proven method to fix it.

Thanks

I usually focus on the shot at hand, and not the entire 18 holes.

natural adult add supplement

Natural ADD Remedy! Any Suggestions?

Is there any natural remedy/supplement that helps with ADD? I have Adult ADD (who doesn’t now days)! This has been a big problem for me lately, I think it’s the stress and such but, I am determined not to go on prescription medication. I’m sure I’ll get silly answers but thanks in advance to the serious advisors 🙂

I’m from Australia and they have started to treat children with fish oil instead of ritulin(or however you spell it) and dexamphetamine. This might help you. You can get it at Pharmacy. Morman Tea is also filled with Ephedra if you could get this it might help.

adhd diet foods list

Is There a Diet for Adhd ? – Some Research Findings

I bet that many parents who have children who suffer from ADHD think that diet is marginal and that an ADHD diet can only make life more complicated than it really is! Let me try and persuade you that the food children eat really does have an impact on their development and especially as regards hyperactivity and other related ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) problems.

I want to list some of the research studies done in this area and if you already are converted, you can take a pat on the back. If you are skeptical, you may want to reflect on the information here.

We now know that there is a lack of essential minerals and vitamins in many children’s diets. This is mainly due to snack and junk foods. The main ones lacking are magnesium, amino acids, vitamin C, omega 3, iron and zinc. In one research project a group of children were given 200mg of magnesium for a trial period of six months. A second group were given the usual placebo. At the end of the trial period, there was notable reduction in hyperactivity and restlessness in the group who had been given magnesium. Similar results were found for all the other essential minerals mentioned above.

A few studies have been done to show that an excess of sugar can lead to hyperactivity and impulsiveness. Even though these studies are somewhat controversial, we will be doing our children a great favour in reducing sugar intake to avoid other problems like obesity and diabetes. Sugary drinks like Gatorade and other pop should be replaced with water.

The British Food Agency carried out a large scale study and they found that certain colourings and additives (E102, E104 and E110 in particular) found in children’s snacks were to blame for increased hyperactivity and other attention deficit disorders. This received a lot of attention in the press recently and raised awareness of the importance of an ADHD diet.

We should help our children to avoid exposure to certain metals and aluminum. Tooth fillings (the amalgam type) and even crowns and dental braces are known to contain certain metals such as nickel, cadmium and mercury which is the most toxic of all.

Omega 3 is contained in fish, fish oils, borage oils and also flax seed oils. When you are preparing food, you can easily add them, eg, as salad dressings.

Do you need more help with ADHD? If you are unsure where to turn and what treatment is valid, you should bear in mind the FDA warning about psychostimulants which are often prescribed without sufficient guidelines eg. these drugs have possible cardiovascular risks and risks of adverse psychiatric symptoms! For more advice you should visit the site below which will help you through the ADHD jungle including advice on medication and a suitable diet for ADHD.

Do you or have you used the Feingold diet to help conquer ADHD?

Do you know where I could find a list online? Or could you tell me some of the foods that you used?

Yes, I have used the Feingold diet for my daughter. She was never really diagnosed with ADD or ADHD, but she can be a handful. I noticed that when she had any candy with red dye 40 in it, she would be bouncing everywhere and not listen to what I had to say. I was shocked to find out that white cake frosting has red dye 40 in it. You really have to watch the labels. If you go to ask.com and punch in Feingold diet, it will lead you to a list with symtoms and also foods that you can use.

Artists telling the truth about Attention Deficit Disorder

Their videos communicate to lots of people as the number of “views” on Youtube sky rocket.

Artists have often been the trend setters for any current-day issue.  Now, they are standing up for the children who can not express for themselves, the pains of being labeled and medicated.

The Citizens Commission on Human Rights of Florida (CCHR Florida), a non-profit organization that investigates and exposes psychiatric violations of human rights and co-founded in 1969 by Professor Thomas Szasz, Professor of Psychiatry Emeritus, and the Church of Scientology, has launched a music/performance video contest to help generate more and more art that speaks to the public and gets them fully informed about the harmful side effects of psychotropic medication.

Millions of children worldwide are placed on mind-altering psychiatric drugs. Their parents are never given the full information on the FDA warnings and side effects.  This leads to tragic consequences.  Parents are not told that there are no medical tests to prove that one single mental health disorder exists.  They are not told that there are medical tests that can be done to detect underlying physical causes, such as nutritional deficiencies, allergies, thyroid problems and more.

To find out all the details of the contest go to www.cchrflorida.org (scroll half-way down the page)

The winner receives 8 full hours of studio session time at one of the Top studios.

Can someoe please help me with the ADHD diet?

Hello. I am a mother of 3 young boys. One of my children recently saw a doctor who said he is sensitive to life:), could have ADHD..It was a crazy visit. Anyhow I have been google searching for weeks on the ADHD diet. I figured what could it hurt to try it. Also something called FEINGOLD? In order to recieve any of the FEINGOLD diet info I must pay 70.00..anyhow, the Adhd diet basically says no cow milk, sweet, fried foods, anything with sweetner of artifical coloring yellow, blue, ect. I am afraid that I am messing up. If I read the diet correctly it seems to me as a low carb diet. Lots of protein, but can I still give him fruits and chesse(cosidering it’s dairy). I just need a correct menu on what to feed him for the first 2 weeks! Anyone with any exact meal plan..Agh it would help so much! Thanks for any answers!

My son is ADHD. I think overall it’s important for your child to have a well balanced diet. At his age, calcium is still very important.

I’ve also seen diet programs that put ADHD children on high fat diets.

Ourselves, we elected to, with the help of our sons doctor and psycologist to proceed with medication. That may not work for your son as well as it as for our own son. There are risks along with the benefits and you have to make the choices that are best for you and your family.

Enjoy this challenge! Seriously, enjoy the challent and rewards of working with a spectacular individual!

what is adhd disease

Does anyone else think ADD/ ADHD is a fictional ‘disease’?

Ok, ive had, and my parents had, and their parents had, and their parents before them had trouble focusing in school. I mean HUGE trouble , like they (and now I) brought in tape recorders to record the lessons because 90 percent of the trouble of school was focusing. They (and me) would study hours a day to get Bs, while other kids seemed to slip by with As and Bs effortlessly!

BUT I find when im interested, I have less trouble focusing and my mind dosent wander that much. Does our family really have a case of inherited ADD? I see kids who have been diagnosed with ADD, but it seems really stupid because I dont think there really genetically disabled, their just bored. Thats my families problem, we just get BORED in school! We all have our own attention defecits, mine is Mathematics. Do we take our attention defecits and blame it on a disease, and take pills?

What do you all think? Are we a nation that has been ‘infected’ with ADD or do we all have our own attention defecits?

ADD is a genuine psychological condition – the problem is mainly that the standards for diagnosis vary a lot, and doctors are really quick to prescribe medication, so in some cases, it really might just be a problem with being understimulated.

And everyone has an easier time focusing on things they like, regardless of wether they have ADD.

best natural adult add supplement

What are the best natural supplements for adult ADD?

I’m a 21 year old with ADD, I was diagnosed in the fourth grade. I haven’t been taking any drugs for about two years now, but since I started college I was thinking about taking something to help me concentrate. I’d prefer natural supplements, as I do not have health insurance at the moment, and when I was taking prescription meds I hated them (Name an ADD medicine, I’ve probably been on it). I’ve heard something about Sam-E, I think it was called, but I don’t know much about it. Any advice would be great, thanks!

Beware when trying Serotonin inhibitors. Sam-e and St. Johns Wort tend to be more beneficial for depression so they increase the activity of your receptors instead of stabilizing them. So you could put yourself on edge. Which will cause a bigger problem in concentration. L-Theanine is a relaxant that is said to make strives in ADD. You could find it at your local Vitamin store.

Diet in adults is a big factor. Adult ADD tends to lead to a bigger craving for carbohydrates. Cutting down on Carbohydrates, sugars, dairy and saturated fats will help you to regulate your focus. Also DHA, Magnesium and Amino Acids will help with brain function to maintain concentration. It sound’s like a lot of work. Unfortunately there is no cure all for it, just a remedy to suppress symptoms. Simply following all these steps will make enough difference that you will notice a difference and your peers will too.

Children should learn mixed martial arts?

Activities for children in the program helps them become the person knows. In addition to basketball or boxing You can try different sports to Mixed Martial Arts.

What mixed martial arts? Is a combination of techniques that include martial arts, karate,. Martial arts form, judo, tae. Kwon do, and some others when the individual takes the children to learn to learn the basics of one before moving to the left.

But why mixed martial arts? This is because activities that stimulate not only your child's physical health. But despite severe mental will to sweat at lower risk of diabetes, heart disease and even cancer. Obesity

Kids usually think twice about. bullying them because they know how to defend when they are threatened. They are more self-confident and more brazen. After completion of the three

Be trained in mixed martial arts to children violent? The answer is no, because most studies have found that people who start a fight in school. Normal people with no training, no discipline and no self esteem. This is a way of seeking attention even with other methods. Will get it.

The study found mixed learning. Martial arts have affected especially for children who are suffering from increasing and ADHD because it helps them stay focused and do anything after duplicate Which in the long run will help in the future. In life, as this will help control the symptoms of both diseases.

Before registering your child in the mixed martial arts, do some research by examining the various gyms or Dojo's offer to children.

Should ensure good academic performance to participate in sports after school?

My ex and I have differences on this idea. Age: 12 years I have always fought with the school. Very bright, but he has been diagnosed as having. ADHD and BiPolar. He just come home better grades and his teacher said that if he can learn at home than to receive and B The Last time he played football and mark the bad grade. He applied to basketball, this time marks. ….. But I said no to his good grades and he can show me that he can maintain. Good grades while playing sports, he will not be able to participate. My ex thought it was too strict and think sport is good for his self esteem. (Which I agree) but if we. Actually believe that he will opt for sports teams. pro when he was older – and I think that academics are important and the two sports. I Am wrong.

Sports qualify students to show they can manage time well enough to get homework done and study for school If your child does not get the grades they need, he should not. Permission to engage in extracurricular activities at the consumer from time to his work in school When his grades, he will be allowed to start again They do in college. If sports scores dropped below a certain level of athlete they will stop playing. . Reflects the fact that colleges do better in school and entering college and finishing. Is the biggest factor in helping you have a good job. Things to add to their pride to football is not. counterract damage to his own pride to do bad in school building.

what is adhd stand for

Natural Remdies for ADHD Children and Lifestyle Changes are an Alternative to Medications

Natural remedies for ADHD children do exist. As most people are aware, ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Children affected by this disorder have a difficult time keeping still, maintaining their concentration, forgetfulness, impaired judgment and learning disabilities. The majority of children diagnosed with this disorder are put on Ritalin or other pharmaceutical therapies.

Studies have shown that ADHD is caused by a problem in the area of the brain that is responsible for coordinating external stimuli. Norepinephrine, a chemical in the brain, carries messages back and forth between different areas of the brain. These messages activate the needed areas, while telling unneeded areas to shut down. In ADHD, this process is impaired, allowing different areas of the brain to compete with various stimuli. The result is confusing for the child, and they can get irritated, aggressive or anxious.

For those who wish to use natural remedies for their ADHD children, there are diet and lifestyle changes to make in addition to herbal remedies. They have been found to be effective, and don’t lose effectiveness over time like pharmaceutical drugs.

First, the child should avoid sugar. There is evidence that children with ADHD may not process sugars properly, resulting in aggressive and restless behavior. Soft drinks should also be avoided, even the sugar-free varieties. Soft drinks contain phosphates that cause exaggerated muscle activity due to the fact that they displace calcium and magnesium levels.

Make sure your child gets enough sunlight. Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is sometimes misdiagnosed as ADHD or ADD. Full-spectrum lighting can be used if the child cannot go outdoors.

The herbs that have been found most useful in treating ADHD naturally are Skullcap, Gingko biloba, German chamomile, Oatstraw, Gotu Kola, Rooibos, Valerian, Lemon Balm, Ginseng (both Siberian and Panax) and Hawthorn. Some of these herbs can be found in combination remedies.

Gingko is well-known for improving memory. It also increases blood flow to the brain and increases the neurotransmitter levels, which will improve a child’s ability to focus. Gingko also tends to make these changes permanent, so it doesn’t need to be taken forever.

Gotu Kola also helps memory and brain function, while decreasing anxiety. Research is also showing that Gotu Kola helps increase circulation.

Siberian Ginseng is another brain stimulant (amazingly, stimulating the brain actually helps those with ADHD to focus). It also helps moderate the body’s release of energy. Panax Ginseng normalizes body function and relieves stress and fatigue.

Yet another facet of natural remedies for ADHD lies in homeopathy. Homeopathy distills the essence of plants into small beads that melt under the tongue. Homeopathy is based on the theory that like cures like, so if you had a fever, you’d take a remedy that was known to cause heat. That is a very simplistic explanation, but it conveys the gist of it. Many parents have had good results using homeopathy for ADHD, and the remedies are extremely gentle. Nux Vomica, for example has been used successfully for ADHD, in the 6x strength, which is available over the counter at any health food store that sells homeopathic medications.

Try out some of the natural remedies for ADHD before subjecting your child to the pharmaceutical alternatives. Whether you choose homeopathic or herbal remedies, you can find something safer for your child.

Adhd Secrets Of Success

adhd secrets of success

Some people know how to advance. It is not common knowledge. Why is it kept secret?

If this behavior is that which is rewarded, why is the truth obfuscated? Is it because those that know the secret benefit from those poor fools who try? What justice is that?
Hi idiot college student. To me, advancement is professional. Entry level to leader. To supervisor. Then to management. Management experience means more skills, and more ability to climb. When you don’t advance, you not only are not qualified for high positions by coming into company from outside, you look defective for not having advanced.
Now, if someone knows the business well, works their tail off at being the most productive and is fought over by management by never promoted, this is punishment. It always happens to me.

How to succeed is hot hidden or kept a secret. It’s all there if anyone wants to listen. How many times parents tell their kids something and they ignore it. This happens into adulthood. A boss or mentor can instill some professionalism into a person. The more advanced stuff takes a head for organization and business sense. Those who accept that they are lacking in these areas and are serious in learning might pick up the lessons, the rest, well…….

Sometimes, it starts with fixing the person themselves, the environment in which they were raised has given them a negative view (maybe sour grapes) on real success. Others have physiological or psychological obstacles they must overcome.

I have a friend that is obviously ADHD. I’ve tried to give him guidance for years. If I want to confound him, I let him make a decision instead of taking the lead. He’s a life long pal but, he’s not on a track to success. Until he can fix himself, the rest won’t have any chance to set in.
