ADHD or the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a kind of condition wherein a person is having trouble in paying attention and focusing on task. This kind of condition may begin in the early childhood and continues on adulthood. If left untreated, this can cause problems especially at home, in school, work and even with relationships. ADHD is diagnosed when a child is between 6 and 12 years of age. The child will have to take a physical exam to make sure that he or she does not have problems in learning. The doctor may look at the written reports about the behavior of the child.
There are three types of symptoms that ADHD has. These are:
- Trouble paying attention. Individuals that have ADHD are easily distracted and have a hard time to focus on any task. When the demands in school or home increase, the warning signs include the inability to listen to instructions, failing to finish projects, homework or chores, getting poor grades, being unable to organize things and being isolated from peers because or secondary depression. Adults with ADHD have a hard time to finish tasks and they often forget things. Sometimes, they are also curious and creative. They love to ask questions and learn.
- Trouble sitting still for a short time (Hyperactivity). Hyperactivity may vary depending on the age and developmental stage. Toddlers and preschoolers tend to be in constant motion. School-age children are unable to remain seated. Children with ADHD may fidget or run around at the wrong times while teens and adults are restless and do not enjoy reading or do quiet activities. The impulsivity symptoms are impatience, blurting out answers before the questions are completed, difficulty in waiting turns, problems in social works, initiating conversations at the times that are inappropriate. Hyperactivity may lead to certain accidents like banging into people or knocking out objects. In normal youngsters, these symptoms occur.
- Acts before thinking and Talks too loud. People with ADHD acts before thinking. They may talk too loud or becomes angry when situation calls. Children who have this condition cannot wait for their turn or even to share. They have a hard time to play with other children. For teens and adults, they seem to leap before they look. They may make decisions that may have an impact to their lives. Sometimes they spend too much money or change their jobs often. They have trouble at work and at home. Adults with ADHD have higher divorce rates. They are also most likely to smoke and have abuse problems. There are only a few ADHD adults who go to college and graduate. It is really important to treat ADHD through medicine, behavior therapy and counseling.

What ADHD meds can be taken with Wellbutrin?
I am currently on Wellbutrin for depression. All anti depressants seem to work for about a month or 2, and then the effects wan. My mom told me a few days ago that I had ADHD pretty bad when I was a child. I had the really bad kind, where I was cruel to animals and destructive to property and such. My parents never treated me, so I truly believe that I have Adult ADHD and since it went untreated, I now have Major Depressive Disorder as a co-morbid condition. I think that the antidepressant meds are indeed working, and its not the depression thats coming back, its the ADHD symptoms that I am confusing with depression. I dont want to go off the Wellbutrin, I was just wondering what meds that they would most likely prescribe in addition to Wellbutrin to treat the ADHD? Straterra is scary to me because I have a very sensitive stomach as is, and It works kind of like an antidepressant from what I have heard. Are stimulant meds the way to go?
I think you can take stimulants with it, although you may get a more calming effect from Clonidine. That comes in pills and patches…
Talk to your doctor about it. There are so many meds to choose from, nowadays, that I wouldn’t want to mislead you.
