Adhd Treatment
Modern Diagnosis and Treatments for ADHD
Currently, one of the most common childhood disorders in the world today is ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). It affects almost up to 5 percent of the world’s population of children and as much as 4.7 percent in America are adults with ADHD. The Colorado psychiatry research is continuing to study its cause, effects and treatments. According to the National Institute of Mental Health,
ADHD consists of three distinct types:
- Predominantly hyperactive- impulsive – Where children tend to be active and non-stop movement and/or talking
- Predominantly inattentive – these children mostly keep quiet without paying attention to what they are doing
- Combined Inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive – The most common type of ADHD where children has both symptoms of hyperactive-impulsive and inattentive
Although there is no cure for ADHD, treatments can alleviate most of the symptoms of the disorder: Pharmacologically, where doctors recommend taking a daily dose of medicine which could have short or long periods of efficacy. These, however, could have side-effects like loss of weight, insomnia, among others. Doctors should be monitoring the intake, requiring follow-up visits. Another treatment method is through alternative medicine. The alternative treatment is becoming well known for not having the side-effects of prescribed medicines. Alternative treatments make use of diet and nutrition, social skills development, bio-feedback and changes in behaviour. Alternative medication also exists, including Omega-3 supplements.
The Colorado psychiatry clinics are one of those that adopted a third method of treatment for ADHD patients, which is the ADHD Treatment Centers. ADHD Treatment Centers focus solely on ADHD and ADD cases and provide specialized care for those suffering from the disorder. A Colorado psychiatrist, for example, opened up Wyse Psychiatry, operated by Dr. Brian Wise, for the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD. The Colorado psychiatrist makes use of the latest in techniques and treatment method in order to properly diagnose, and treat the disorder.
The ADHD disorder is not simple to diagnose due to the fact that most parent hesitate to accept the disorder in their child and often don’t agree with the assessment of their child’s behaviour. The Colorado psychiatry clinic uses Quantitative EEG (qEEG) with success for most cases in the proper diagnosis of the disorder. After the correct and specific diagnosis is made, the proper treatment plan can then be formulated. The treatment plan will be unique to the specific condition of the disorder and can be used to assess what particular psychotherapy techniques and/or medications are needed.

Can an Epidural given too late or given at all cause ADHD?
My son has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ( ADHD) and I have always wondered why?
Then it hit me the other day that my wife was refusing an Epidual for quite a while then later she agreed when she was at eight centimeters dialation and they told her it was her last chance so she she took it becasue the labor had been so long.
Now I am wondering if them giving it to her later in the labor if could have had an effect on my son’s brain?
I am in the Medical Field and there is NO known link to ADHD and the epidural.
