Adult Adhd Alternatives To Meds

adult adhd alternatives to meds

Can’t afford ADHD meds - any alternatives?

I was diagnosed with adult ADD (inattentive) and prescribed Adderall for it. The Adderall worked pretty well, though I took much less than was prescribed. But my insurance doesn’t cover it (or any other ADHD meds) because I am over the age of 21. Great huh? So the cheapest generic ADHD med costs me about $90/month, which is a fortune.

I have been trying to drink two cups of coffee per day right around the time I would be taking meds, and that helps but not like the meds did. I’m also trying to eat more protein and that helps…a little…

Has anyone found any way of getting ADHD med-like results, like with caffeine products maybe? I really can’t afford $90/month (and the doctor’s visit it takes to get the prescription, since they can’t give you refills on a controlled substance) but I am struggling.

Thank you.

Since you don’t have insurance that covers your needed meds, contact the drug company that manufactures Adderall. You can find out by doing an internet search for it. Most pharmaceutical companies have programs where they supply people with their drugs at low cost and sometimes no cost.

Also, contact The Partnership for Prescription Assistance (toll-free, 1-888-4PPANOW. It is the only source that provides a single point of access to more than 475 patient assistance programs, which include more than 180 programs offered by the pharmaceutical industry.

Good luck!! : )
